And no, I don't want the show to end and to put all those people out of work. I do want the show to be better that's for sure. Well said. I don't believe S13 is it in any way, but I do think there is a reason for this pretty much unprecedented publicity and appearances beyond them just happening to be in LA, or NYC. Could we be wrong? Sure. But I don't think it's speculation without foundation or as ridiculous as some people like to imply it is. To not consider the possibility of there being major news coming is just whistling past the graveyard, IMO. 5 Link to comment

MysteryGuest March 13, 2018 Share March 13, 2018 I honestly don't know what to make of all the publicity right now, but I just can't see them taking to the talk show circuit to tell their fans bad news. That doesn't make sense to me. It's possible that after 13 seasons, and with the fact that their audience is growing through social media, Netflix, etc., that they're finally "relevant" enough to be invited on. They've gotten an awful lot of publicity this year, and most has been very positive. I just can't see them all of a sudden showing up on all of these talk shows just to say that they've been cancelled. If they have already made a deal for shorter seasons, and they want to play that up, along with the Wayward spinoff, then maybe I could see it. But promoting all of these interviews only to have them drop a bombshell on their fans seems a little cruel to me. 4 Link to comment

But promoting all of these interviews only to have them drop a bombshell on their fans seems a little cruel to me. My feeling is that it's almost like a victory lap for them. A little extra push from their agents (and themselves), and a little gratitude from the studio/network heading into a final season (14) of the show - and *if* they are ending it on their terms, then it's not really a cancellation, per se. That's not nothing. They are getting their faces and names back out there in the ether, maybe reminding the world who they are. I don't expect them to announce anything on a morning chat show, but something big like Paley, or the Up Fronts, well, I can see that happening. ALL of this is my speculation only, and it doesn't mean I want the show to end. But if it does, then I hope that both Jensen and Jared get to do it on their terms and wish them nothing but success and happiness in whatever comes next. (Still gonna cry like a little girl if/when it happens though) 3 Link to comment

Its about time we got noticed. Yes, it's good for our guys to get their faces out there. This. The WB and the CW figured out that the SPN dog "hunts". That means it gets free publicity and this is nothing but good news. Also, I suspect that success breed success. Entertainment Weekly has had these guys on like 3 or 4 covers in the past year. These shows GET that magazine and so the "buzz" is upped. And EW invited the boys to their one and only "EW Popfest". And the boys were a big draw -- because SPN fans travel. Imagine if it was a football team, my school (the University of Michigan) "travels" well. So they get invited to the bigger bowl games, sometimes when (IMO) it isn't necessarily obvious. But Michigan brings the fandom and "butts in seats" is huge. So, EW has been VERY VERY good to us. I suspect the cover competition in 2016 helped. The other element of this is the boys' contractual responsibility to do press. If they are leveraging the LA press around Paleyfest, they may not show up at the Upfronts. Or maybe the Paleyfest is in lieu of the Winter upfronts. OR they might show up in New York as well. As posted above, it "fits" the schedule although the schedule if freaking AWFUL from a personal perspective. Waaaaaay too much time away from home or they fly back from JIBCON to Austin and then back out to New York. Going back to the "travels well", look at the crowd outside of Conan for SDCC. That was the first time the Wednesday night Conan was almost immediately out of seats. Usually the line processed thru people showing up as late as 5am. This past SDCC, the seats were filled by fans who showed up at 10-11pm. I imagine the publicity people at NBC noticed. In fact, I seem to recall a comment by Conan about it. So, it's like Jensen said back in November at SPNDC, suddenly Supernatural is an "overnight success" in year 13. He shrugged his shoulders with at "whatever, it's all good" kinda look and moved on. And they had JUST been invited back the week prior (they have to secure their contracts well in advance). So, all the press last fall was independent of the "what is the last season" bit. As for this spring, their in LA. They are FREAKING FANTASTIC guests. They've already sold out the live audience for The Talk. They'll be fans standing at the door. This is the buzz that talk shows like. And it'll be the same for Kimmel. The show is probably already sold out and there will be people waiting outside for Jensen. 6 Link to comment

I agree with you both--the new bunch of PR is just our boys and our little show getting some of their just due finally...not some imagined "gift" before quitting. We ALL know the show will end in a year or two or three and the end is possible soon--but this PR push is not a sign of it...it's just the boys getting some love. In fact one could argue this love is the CW+WB giving the boys a push and love and reward so they stay a few more years doing a show which is golden for both companies. That said it's not a sign of anything--just what it is...overdue love for the boys. Edited March 14, 2018 by Jakes 3 Link to comment

I don't think Misha is ignored at all. He's just not necessarily noticed for his great acting skills, but for his charitable contributions instead. He's admitted that he does the show because it allows him the freedom to do what he wants to do with his charities. I think when he's interviewed (which seems to have been quite a bit lately) about his charities or his art, he's getting exactly the recognition he deserves and wants. For him, IMO, the show is a means to an end. I know that you're not a brother fan, but I do believe that the brothers are what makes this show continue on for the majority of viewers. Yes, we all love Cas, and we don't want him to leave (we didn't want Mark to leave, either), but as much as we'd all hate it, his leaving wouldn't really effect the basic story at this point. But the fans love him, so he gets to work enough to earn what he needs in order to continue the work that's most important to him. This is not in anyway meant to bash Misha. I love Misha. But I think his acting career is secondary to everything else that he does. 10 Link to comment
