Superman: Legacy is due to begin filming in January 2024. The Rookie, meanwhile, best case scenario — in a world where the WGA and AMPTP resume talks soon and somehow reach a deal by the end of July — might start up production on Season 6 in, say, early October. But again, that is a highly optimistic timetable, seeing as there have been zero negotiations on the WGA/AMPTP front since that strike began.

And that’s not factoring in any delays that might be result from a possible SAG-AFTRA strike, which could last beyond any WGA/AMPTP resolution.

There are a lot of variables at play at this early date, but TVLine reached out to ABC for comment nonetheless. UPDATE: The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley, meanwhile, has responded to our tweet with a simple, “Nope!”

"‘The Rookie’ and ‘The Rookie: Feds’ cast to compete on ‘Celebrity Family Feud’" (woodtv.com/abc4/on-tv/abc/the-rookie-and-the-rookie-feds-cast-to-compete-on-celebrity-family-feud).
No, Nathan Fillion will not participate, but 5 cast members from each show will.

The second half hour of the show will have a competition between the associates of actors Lauren Lapkus vs. June Diane Raphael.

Both competitions are on behalf of charities.

3:23 PM: Cox says it was like art imitating life when her character gave birth at home—she did the same. (Less dramatic than Nyla’s experience, hopefully.) Hawley says it’s one of his favorite moments of the show.

3:25 PM: “More and more like John, if John’s knees are really starting to hurt him,” Fillion jokes. In all seriousness, the stunt coordinator has helped avoid Nolan end up on his knees in scenes; he also says he doesn’t run much anymore.

“I think the people like the show because of the characters, because of the relationships…the fact that we are a procedural…it’s just the form,” Fillion says.

3:28 PM: How do they balance the many characters? Hawley notes some episodes lean more towards other characters, but he hopes the actors don’t feel underserved. Cox praises them for making it feel well-rounded.

3:33 PM: “This show is lightning in a bottle…I feel very taken care of,” Dewan says of working while pregnant. Hawley jokes that every time they’ve thought about making a character pregnant, their real-life portrayer winds up pregnant.

3:39 PM: Winter says he loves this current season is putting Grey out in the field. He notes it’s hard to keep a show interesting this deep in, “but they continue to elevate every season.” He has learned a bunch about Tim this season.

Lopez and Tim end up in a ride or die situation season, Hawley teases. “Any time we put different actors in a car together, it’s a different dynamic.”

“He is a very rare leading man who is willing to fall down, who is willing to fail…who is willing to be human,” Hawley says. “There’s such humanity to Nathan whether he’s the captain of a starship or a mystery writer or the oldest rookie.”

3:49 PM: “I created this show in the shadow of Philando Castile’s death,” Hawley says. He wanted to create an aspirational show of seeing officers do things the right way. But after George Floyd’s death, he notes they had a responsibility to do more and be better—because they’re a patrol show, they had the ability to do more. They continue to tell stories about police reform: “We have now established there are consequences to police officers that do things the wrong way.”

That was so great. But I was a little shocked because when Nathan was Castle, he was full of pranks. I didn't get pranked at all on The Rookie; I was waiting on it, but it didn't happen. So when they asked me to come back, I was like, "Heck yeah, I'm there."

Jones appeared as Yvonne Thorsen, Aaron's mother, in season 4, episode 11, "End Game," and season 4, episode 16, "Real Crime." She was part of the young rookie's storyline involving the murder of Patrick Hayes, for which her son was a suspect prior to his exoneration. Given that Aaron was critically injured in The Rookie season 5, it's possible Jones could make another appearance following her on-screen son's injury.

“Did I mention the light?” he stresses. “Because I really believe the mood lighting was 20 percent responsible.” When it comes to her reaction, he describes it as “not good. The look she gave me was somewhere between horrified and really horrified.”

However, when Blair tries to confirm that Celina doesn’t share his feelings, Thorsen reveals, “I’m not sure I share my feelings.
