Other girls she mentored that I can think of are Kaleigh, Selina, and Chandler. None of them made the team. We'll have to see if Selina makes it this year. ETA I think she was also shown mentoring Simone once last year and talking about her injury. So there's another who made it and is still there this year. jmom July 19, 2016 Share July 19, 2016 Hi, just wanted to make a comment. My daughter went through training camp, actually started right before high school graduation, was on MTT and became a DCC. I am new to this blog, but have read some of the posts. My daughter was a DCC several years ago, but even back then there were things that were said about the girls. Which I completely understand, due to being on TV and putting themselves out there. There were comments about my daughter, and she understood. But, what is seen on TV is such a small glimpse of what goes on during training camp and shows very little about the who the girls are as people. My daughter was shown crying after being called in the very first time anyone was called in that season. Luckily, that was the only time she was called in until the next to last night. But, she cried, and I can tell you that she is NOT a crier, at all!!! So, just a food for thought, we may not get a very true picture of who the girls really are during MTT. 15 Link to comment

MyFavShows July 19, 2016 Share July 19, 2016 I'd love Auto Amy if not for those crying "I want this team more than anything, I can't marry the man of my dreams cause I'm so dedicated to this" bawling scenes. I guess I don't like to see girls crying like the world is ending on the show unless they've actually been cut, called in at a really bad time (like now for instance!) or told something seriously disappointing or harsh by K&J. Like when Taylor cried at the end of last year, I felt for her - same w/ the non-Chelsea vets told not to come to cameos, Danielle being told she wasn't picked for the squad, Ashley Pro about those mean things some ex-dance director said about her, anyone who is cut, etc. all reasons to cry. But Auto Amy crying while still in prelims about how much more she wants it than everyone else - yuck. Also crying about being told you aren't perfect in every way on the first night of training camp - a turn off to me too. 3 Link to comment

Don't get me wrong I like Melissa, but I don't know how much she's actually helping these girls as professional dancers. It almost seems like her 'mentees' that do make the team make it because Melissa has pull rather than Melissa transforming them into great DCC. M1977G July 19, 2016 Share July 19, 2016 I suspect Kelli Q git passed over in years past because of her look, not her dancing. As for Selina, weight may have been a factor (not that I noticed this last season), but she also rushed her counts and looked younger than other TCCs. I think she looks more mature and prettier this year, and I hope her dancing has matured as well. She was a good dancer, from the glimpses I saw last season, so I'm hoping she's advanced to great--on the beat, power in her moves, and livelier to watch. Not that I'm a Melissa fan, but I don't blame her for so many of the girls she's tried to help getting cut from TC or only making it one season. They are sent to/selected by her because they're struggling in the first place. She's a reality TV "star" and former DCC, not a miracle worker. That said, as a TCC, I'd be pretty bummed to be sent to her, given this history of minimal success! I just rewatched the episode where she met with 6 or so TCCs last season and LOLed at the way they edited her advice to Kaylee - - "Break out of your shell" - - like, gee, why didn't she think of that? 3 Link to comment

MTT should show a scene after the first game of all the DCC avoiding Melissa in the locker room like she's got the plague. Haha! I hope for Kat's sake she truly did make the team on her own merit, but you got to wonder. Do you think Breelan would have made it w/o Melissa? She may be a former DCC, but I think at this point her first priority is her role as a reality star and she participates as part of that pursuit rather than her love and loyalty for the DCC. Not the fake coffee and tea parties but for instance when they show them at their jobs or moving to Dallas. I think what Yuko is going through would be fascinating. I bet most people don't know what it takes to get a visa when you are unsure if you're going to have a job or not. The show makes it seem like you fly to America, try out, and if you make it you just start a new life here without any real challe he's. She possibly has more stress, more uncertainty and more on the line than anyone! What if you get the spot on the team but not the visa? What if you spend thousands of dollars flying back and forth getting a visa only to be cut? Also I'd like to know more about Tasha's long distance marriage and long distance parenting Link to comment

And like you said, the show is going to air the most extreme (and edited) reactions of each girl. They obviously have to all be hard working and smart to even make training camp! My opinions were really formed from not so great interactions at Allen American games where Amy wasn't the nicest, but again those could have just been bad days where we were interfering with her job. I agree on the color. Kelli seems to always wear those dresses that are made out of the same material that fits tight (but not unflattering). I'm guessing rehearsal was so long cause they had to film specific thinks with Kelli pickler i don't see raylee but maybe she just went to the bathroom or something. If that group shot was the one Kelli posted it was probably done at the end of filming and everyone was tired and that shot was the best of the ones they took. Link to comment

Thanks for sharing that with us, JMom. I always take with a grain of salt what we see on TV. I've always felt like they played up Kelsey's "dumb girl" moments for drama on camera. She doesn't appear to be that way at all and I'm really rooting for her this year. Same with Amy Simone. She is a sweetheart on her social media and I think she just really wants to make the team. I've read enough Reality Steve (he spoils the Bachelor(ette) series), watched UnReal on Lifetime and read enough interviews with people who were on reality shows to know that there is a lot of editing and things done to manipulate emotions and situations. People always says "well, they know what they are in for! they said such and such, producers didn't put words in their mouth!' but I don't think anyone can understand what it's like until they go through it. NOT that i'm saying Kelli and the producers are mean terrible people taking advantage of girls' dreams and emotions, but it IS a TV show after all and drama sells. The one good thing I think that comes out of it is it truly does help the girls bond :) They may not all be omg total BFF but I do truly think that 99% of the time they genuinely care about each other because they've survived the process together lol Sorry for all of that!
