Monday Recap.

The show starts with a SNL clip of a parody of Meet The Parents with Robert Deniro as Mueller.

Mika & Joe  are in the studio. Mika is giddy & re wearing her dark blue top with a V neck. Heileman is on set. Ignatius is in Washingthon. his hair is a mess.

Heidi is also wearing a dark blue dress in a cheap library.

Joe said that 20% of the money Trump raised this year is going to pay legal bills. No proof of that stat provided.

Mika is happy that Trump's approval rating is back to 39% from 43%.

Joe discussed the Rasmussen poll which showed Trump at 50%. Joe admitted the Rasmussen poll was correct in the last election because GOP turnout was higher than expected.

Joe said that Rasmusen usually skews GOP by 3-5%

Heidi said the poll is less accurate . Really? Joe went on many rants after the election that the polls were wrong because Trump voters did not tell pollsters that they were voting for Trump. Joe should have brought up his talking point today.

I think it's a bizarre analysis. If a poll gets closest to the actual result, shouldn't that poll be more reliable? Heidi is showing her bias.

What is the point of using polls that skew more Democrat, when the actual result is different?

Comey is the top story today. Heileman is mad at Comey for trying to sell a book. He is upset that he brought his wife & daughter on the interview last night.

It makes him look like a leader of the resistance.

Heileman said Comey made bad choices before the election. He should have stayed quiet when no charges were brought up against Hillary.

He should have stayed quiet .

Joe is ranting about Obama interfering in Hillary's investigation.

Secret Agent Clint is on the set. Clint is shocked that Comey is too front and center. FBI directors are supposed to be quiet.

The theme from the panel is that Comey is making Mueller's job very tough. He comes across as biased & Trump will pounce on Comey.

Heileman said that Trump is being kept away from TV's & is being left in Florida to meet with Japanese pm Abe.

Pence was  supposed to be in Peru not in stock photos of being involved in the missile strike.

Mika is healing from her latest plastic surgery. Her cheeks look rounder than normal. Skin tone is good.

Mikawas mumbling to Haas while Joe was mocking Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Joe is mad at Trump saying Mission accomplished.

Haas is mad that the missile strike won't fundamentally change the situation in Syria. Haas said the USA didn't change immigration policy to allow more Syrians into the USA.

Joe liked Trump's speech.

Ignatius liked Trump's missile strike.

I originally started watching  Morning Joe because it was interesting to see a Former GOP Congressman from the "Redneck Riviera" host a show with a "respected journalist" who was a daughter of a well known former National Security Adviser to a Democratic President & the son of CBS journalist Mr Geist host a show. Willie used to have a daily , "News You can't Use segment" which was hilarious during the early days of Morning Joe.

I agree Oakville, the show used to be more organic and different from other news shows.  I don't know why they got rid of "News You Can't Use" segment as it was always funny and Willie's delivery was always spot on.

MJ has become must less of a "news show" and now has become a pundit controlled rant about the topic du jour.  I don't mind a snarky comment or an eye roll, I don't want people to be robots but I also don't want to feel that the news that is being delivered is coming from a personal agenda of the pundits.  That is for the evening shows, I want hard news in the morning.

I've already switched over to CNN and am enjoying Alyson interviewing Mike Rogers.  Great interview (with a tiny touch of snark).  You are right Oakville, the show has just totally jumped the shark.

Joe is mad at Comey for making fun of Trump's hair & bad tan . It's not a serious discussion.

It's OK when Joe makes fun of Trump's hair.

Joe reminded viewers that the UK & France particiapated in the missile strikes.

Thanks!. The achilles heel of Mika & Joe is that they get too personally close to the politicians they cover. It backfired spectactularly over Trump.

They also went "gaga" for Chris Christie, Mark Sanford, Gov McConnell.

Joe is talking a lot today. Mika showed off her ring & drank from her Red Sox glass.

Uh-oh, looks like Scarborough has some competition in the rock star category as Lester Holt has his own band:

The Rough Cuts, led by "NBC Nightly News" anchor Lester Holt on the bass, performed for a packed house at Hill Country BBQ in NYC Sunday night... The band is comprised of NBC News producers, editors, and reporters... It's almost time for the band's first "road trip," in DC during WHCD weekend...

Rock on Lester!

eta:  I can't believe Joe wasn't invited to perform at Coachella . . .

This discussion really summed up what’s wrong with this show for me. Rasmussen polls different results than other polls why?Excellent question, one I’ve wondered about. Heidi is put forward as the knowledgeable person to answer, after some insider snickering as if there is something they all know about the poll, don’t want to say and pick Heidi to answer.  She doesn’t actually say much, maybe robo polls, small sample size, it comes off as if  she doesn’t want to say exactly.

Rather than follow-up, they all snicker some more, Joe says about 100 words that, if written out would not form a coherent thought or even complete sentences.  Mika simpers and Richard Haas babbles something obvious and repetitive to try to cover for Joe and it’s over.

Not to mention the poll numbers they did show were incrementally changed and pointless.

Jumped the shark indeed.

This.  Rasmussen has skewed conservative for quite a while as it only calls land lines which are for the most part owned by older folks who have a tendency to be conservative.  Polling is another time filler for shows these days.  I can't imagine how you can even gather accurate data anymore with so many ways to screw with/create fictitious data.  I know they love showing those slides but let's face, until Mueller's final set of indictments comes rolling out it's all kind of meaningless.  Come see me in August or September.

Exact! I would have thought that focusing on polls would be verboten after 2016.

I am a statistics geek. I started following the Rasmussen poll in 2004. It came very close to the actual result. Bush up by a couple of points but he won because of a 100k lead in Ohio. If Kerry had won Ohio , he would be President.Bush would have won the popular vote but Kerry would win the electoral college.

Its true that Rasmussen skews conservative. I think they also poll the same people every day.

In my opinion, it’s useless to focus on a national poll when you have an electoral college system.

Joe should remember that the Midwest states swung 5 or 6 points towards Trump that wasn’t picked up in the national poll results.

I find it very annoying when Joe doesn’t remember his own talking points.

Joe kept hammering the point that Trump voters were embarrassed to admit they were voting for him. Thus polls would underestimate Trump support.

The exit polls at 5 pm on election night were wrong.

The NBC poll was wonky. It showed Trump gaining 5 points among the 18-34 age group. Why ?

Are young voters excited about Trump  fooling around with porn stars?

She got into with Stephanopolous on GMA too. I have never seen anyone talk as fast as she can.

Back to topic - who was Joe yelling at in the first 10-15 minutes? I was in the other room and just heard "go to the basement, go to bed pull the covers up, you're too stupid."  Is it really a good idea for a tv host to call people stupid?  Considering the ill informed comments he makes on a daily basis, that can be refuted with a two minute search on Google?

I'm surprised they haven't booked Comey. He's on Rachel tonight, GMA tomorrow, Colbert tomorrow, hell he'll be on Kelly & Ryan before the week's over.

He does come across a little too aww shucks -  boy scout ish for me.   It's not his job to judge Loretta Lynch, or what may or may not have been on Huma's lap top. It's his job to oversee an investigation and turn the findings over to the Justice Dept. END OF STORY.

I know why Trump fired him, but tbh,  he should have been fired, not for Flynn or Russia but just for not doing his job.  If it hadn't been for the extreme situation of the election, I bet he would have been fired by Obama/Lynch, just for overstepping his bounds on the investigation.

It will be a fiasco if Morning Joe can’t book Comey. It’s a gossipy book for politics insiders. Is Morning Joe so lightly regarded now, that they can’t get a book seller like Comey?

So true.  The electoral college system has run its course.  It was probably a good idea in the horse and buggy/pony express days, but we all have access to all information 24/7 and why should the populous areas be punished for being......populous.  People live where people live.  I cannot stand - nor ever make any peace with - the idea that the popular vote does not actually count.  It's all about the loudest voice in the room in whatever state a candidate needs to push her/himself over the 270 vote threshold.   It's bizarre in this day and age.  YMMV, fellow posters.

I just realized that, in my zeal, this rant is off-topic.  I will try and reign myself in regarding MJ.  I find their (daily) skewering of tRump ironic, as during the campaign I was railing against them for giving him a free platform to spew his hateful, lying nonsense, back when they were all still BFF's.  Thank god that's over.  I thought Meek-a looked kind of nice today and I wish Joe would go back to parting his hair on the other side.  It does not like being swept from right to left; it just puffs itself up and looks like he has a tumor on top of his head.

Agree 1000%.  What difference does it make where we live? one person one vote. This "oh california has an advantage".  Not if you stop thinking about it in those terms.  The person who gets the most votes wins. Period. end of story.

It’s unlikely that the electoral college will be eliminated. I could see more states splitting their votes like Nebraska & Maine.

Yesterday, when Joy Reid was signing off, she referred to her show as Morning Joy, then clapped a hand over her mouth and said, "I mean Am Joy", and then as they faded out she said something like "Man, I almost said Morning Joe".  Does this mean something? I've got a land line.  It's such a luxury because I work from home.  I'm always the person on conference calls who you can hear clearly and who can hear you.  I get polled quite a bit, and much of those questions are by and large horse shit.  There will be 4 "normal" questions about political/economic/cultural things that are rationally constructed and not too biased.  Then there will be two others that are like, "Do Democrats hate our troops?  A lot, or a little?"  "Is MSNBC a little evil, or very evil?"  Sometimes they are more subtly phrased but are very very leading and are meant to hit Fox News as "truth."

So kind of random story...a girl I met on another forum told me that Joey DM’d her last summer at 12:45am on a Friday night. I guess he’d also liked a bunch of her pictures on IG too. And then loved some more pictures on Facebook. She’s pretty cute and blonde and a doctor or something. I think he DM’d her a couple of times in January too. When I checked the date it was one of the many days Joey was in the bunker. What the fuck is up with that? Do you think Meeks knows what he’s up to? It seems kind of fucked up to me. She sent me a screenshot of some of the posts and it was weird. Maybe something is going on...

I'm glad somebody said it outside of us.  When asking if Comey's words reflect self-interest over national interest, Joe might want to look in the mirror and ask himself the same thing.  There sure as hell was no concern whatsoever for national interests when he and Meek-a were overtly shilling for Drumpf during the campaign while dumping on Hillary at every opportunity.  But, of course, their self-interest overruled any of their Joe-come-lately common sense moments.  Several of us wondered if something happened when they visited the Tower of Doom in September 2016 because their coverage of Drumpf was sycophantic at best, and worshipful at worst.  I even wondered at the time if they were auditioning for the future Drumpf TV that Jared the Brain Dead was shopping.  After all, no one close to Drumpf--not even Drumpf--expected him to win and they were actively looking for their next gig.  I don't EVER want to hear the words "emails" or "Goldman Sachs" coming out of Joe and Meek-a's mouths ever again.

I've thought about this and I do think they were offered juicy bits at the new Trump TV network.  And, it's almost a certainty that they had hoped to be offered appointments (that they would turn down because this TV gig is sweet), but expected to remain Trump's on air advisors.  Joe presumably grew increasingly resentful when he realized he and his lover had been used and sold a bill of goods, and he'll be the tail trying to wag the dog.  And that's when he began attacking Trump's advisors, and when that closed all routes to Trump, he went full on oppositional.
Also it's worth remembering that besides Joe's flirtations with and admiration of Trump the candidate that worked to legitimize that clown as a candidate through so much air time, they have spent the past 4 or 5 years attacking Hillary Clinton, providing weight to the long list of baseless accusations against her.  Joe certainly worked to prevent Clinton from being President.  Mika helped by normalizing, "... but emails, sigh."
Comey surely had a greater immediate effect, but our two dummies had their fingers weighing down on Hillary's side of the scale and were pushing upward on Trump's side.

Interesting.  I had read somewhere that these contract negotiatons often start a year in advance, so if Joe and Mika's contract expires at the end of the year, they would have probably started re-negotiating by now. So, if Joe and Mika either have already told MSNBC they don't want to return, or if MSNBC is unwilling to meet their demands, this may already be known.

Having said that, I am not a Joy Reid fan. I would much prefer Stepnanie Ruhl as a replacement. There's nothing wrong with Joy, she is just not my cup of tea for some reason that I can't pinpoint.

At least now we know why Joe hates Avenatti so much. He's jealous that Avenatti is going to help Stephanie screw over Trump, while all Joe  accomplished was getting his fiance insulted about her face lift and a cat fight with Maggie Haberman about being at Mar A Lago.

What an idiot.

why does Joe keep getting away with the ridiculous claim that President Obama was "divisive?"  "Divisive" to whom?  And, how?  It's ridiculous that no one on that panel challenges Joe when he makes this ludicrous claim.

Just more of Joe's insane jealousy of Barack Obama.  Divisive in that he divided the country into two camps -people who believe we are all equal, and the racist misogynist assholes who couldn't stand to see a black man as President, and thus became Trump supporters.

Jonathan Capehart used to be a lot and then one morning Joe went way overboard in mocking how well Jonathan was dressed.  I remember the look on Jonathan's face and he never came back on the show again.  He was a great guest and didn't take any crap from Joe.  The show has faltered from running off these types of guests.  I mean who wants to get up at that time of the morning to be mocked and talked over by those two?

Anyone else catch Mika's Instagram Live with her and her animals, guest-starring her housekeeper? She was chasing around her roosters and cuddling Pierre and I'm pretty sure I got a contact high just from watching. (I mean this in the best way possible. Mika is her peak self when she's letting loose with her farm crew.)

Christmas just came early for Scarborough as Sean Hannity was just named as Cohen's third previously unnamed client.  He's going to have a field day with this.  Tomorrow is gonna be LIT.

I'll supply the Egg McMuffins and Mimosas for everyone!  The bunker will be on FIY-AH!!

The mystery client? Why would Cohen be repping Hannity?  OMG this  party is going to be off the hook!!!  I saw Stephanie standing in the doorway of the courthouse a while ago on MSNBC.  Maybe they'll get Avenatti tomorrow since they can't get Comey.  It's gonna kill Joe to have to admit Avenatti knows what he's doing.

Today New York's hottest club is the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse. This place has everything: Pee tapes, porn stars, shady lawyers, magazine spankings, the cast of the Apprentice, shirtless Russian men riding bears, tanning beds, disgraced former FBI director  and  Dreamsicles. What are Dreamcicles? It's that thing where there's orange all the way around the outside and then it's white in the center.

HEE!  Too bad he pissed Avenatti off, he could have come in mighty handy tomorrow.  I am in the process of creating a portable shower for days like today because I feel like I need one about ever 15 minutes.

I just watched the one on Facebook.  She compares pestering barnyard animals until they scream in objection to teaching woman to speak up so they know their value?  Seriously you can't make this shit up.
