I start to freak out if traffic is backed up on an overpass. I look down on the freeway below and start to sweat if we don't start moving. I just know the whole thing is going to collapse and send us all hurtling to our deaths.

Ever since the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis in 2007, I worry about ageing infrastructure.

Thanks for the offer, PatsyandEddie, but I'm going to work against this Incompressible ShitGibbon (HatTip to the high-flying Scottish Twitter Insult Squad) until the wheels fall off my granny trike.

The common misconception for many grifters is that world domination is as simple as the rubes you're fucking with.

Hey, for any Preverts looking for a good, creepy Netflix binge, you should check out Stranger Things. It's a sci-fi mystery set in late 1983 Indiana, and has shades of Stephen King, Poltergeist, E.T., and Stand By Me among other influences. Those of us who grew up in those years will recognize the music and the clothes, and the general ambiance of the era. I was 13 in late 1983, so it really brings me back to those awkward geeky years. Be warned, though: if you're at all creeped out by Mr. King and the like, I wouldn't watch if you're by yourself and it's after dark O_o I sat outside this afternoon and watched two eps, and I was still creeped out!

Today was REALLY good, REALLY REALLY GOOD.

Or that may be the percocet talking.  Fell off my back step after I put up a new screen and stood back to admire my handiwork.  The sort of thing Dullan would do.....in a half cast until I see the ortho guy.

After the percocets wear off, my cranky meter is going to go HIGH!

So, last week Show was telling us Chelsea was the Con of Cons, the merciless avenger of her husband, Nips Newman.  Now she's a brainless dolt, drawn in by Chloe's pity party.

I never did buy Chelsea as smart.

TRIGGER WARNING FOR PET OWNERS!!!

Am I crazy for being disturbed by what I'm about to share?

My brother's family has a couple of pets. They live in a smallish town close to the wife's parents, who happen to be rich as fuck. There is a vet in town and still more within a half hour of town. The pets are not old. One pet started peeing around the house, no other symptoms. Did they take pet to the vet? Nope. "They can't afford that!" Never mind all the major life purchases bestowed upon bro and wife by the in-laws, apparently asking for help with a vet bill is a bridge too far. One of sil's family members took the pet out back and I don't think I need to fill in the rest.

Now, no one in sil's family is a veterinarian or grew up on a farm. They don't live out in the sticks. I don't understand how this is an acceptable solution to a loose bladder? Am I overreacting?

^Oh my...unfortunately, I'm rarely surprised by stories like that anymore.  And I'm no expert, but couldn't that have been merely some behavioral issue?  Like territory marking or something like that?  And that kind of thing isn't so difficult to correct.

I'm sad now...

Oh noes, boes!  Being in a cast is never fun, but spending August in one must doubly suck.  Feel better, and enjoy those fabulous narcotics while you have them.

I hate to admit it, but this happened in my family as well. Some people are just too cowardly to ask a vet to put an animal down if it becomes inconvenient. Although by the same token, when I was a vet tech we had a client who had us put down a beautiful three year old Westie because they didn't want to have to give her a pill every day. RIP Lizzie Smith.

Shit boes, that sucks! Take it easy and don't use a un-bent coat hanger to scratch it ( a ..uh... friend told me this).

This was a very cruel thing to do, Ninja. I'm trying not to think of all the pets who's lives are ended for similar reasons.

I grew up on a ranch and I don't think you're overreacting. Nationwide the Humane Society and no-kill shelters are filled with former pets with a variety of behavioral issues and health problems because the owners choose to dispose of their pet and abandon responsibility.

Owww! Take care, boes.

Here is my pet theory; picture it:

Bill and Trump are strolling down the back nine:

Bill: "Aw shit, Donnie, if Hil don't win this time I'll never hear the end of it."

Trump: "I could get her in."

Bill: "The hell you say!"

Trump: "I could!"

Bill "Yeah, right"

Trump: "Wanna bet?"

Bill: "Sure, how much?"

Trump: "One dollar."

Bill: "Ha ha, you got a bet!"

*they shake on it*

Trump proceeds to run the worst campaign in the history of campaigns. Hillary gets in.

Trump: "WINNAR!"

Holy fuck, that puppy is cute.

Let's just say that I boycott family events attended by certain members of sil's family, like the jagoff who thinks passing around his shiny new handgun at my nephew's birthday party is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. Now this other guy, the one who put the poor pet down, I don't even know how I can look him in the eye. Thanks all, for your input, though I'm depressed to know just how common this brand of assholery is.

That kind of assholery really deserves something as awful in return.  All of our dogs are rescue and have been for the past 30 and more years.  Twice we've adopted "unadoptable" dogs who gave us more than I could ever give them for all the years they weren't supposed to have.  Back in Dubuque a woman brought in an elderly dog to be put down because she'd gotten new carpets and didn't want to chance her peeing on them.  Lucky for the dog, the shelter people publicized it and the dog ended up in a good home.  And that woman lost a lot of friends.

Right now Hazel - our half - doberman, half cockerspaniel rescue (SHE thinks she's half dobie, half lab but we did the DNA test and I haven't had the heart to tell her the truth) is afraid of me clomping around with the crutches and the walker and will only come to me when I'm on the bed.  I see the orthopedist on Friday who will cast it - break in the ankle - and hopefully put on a boot that will be less cumbersome.

Everything is always bearable with an animal at your side.  Too bad those asshats don't know it.

BOES! Take care of yourself! No bent hangers, rulers or knitting needles! Take your meds  and stay comfy! Smooches ! ( Retired ortho nurse)

Ninja, give that "person" a boot in the arse for me! I have two cats who are habitual pissers, related to illness and anxiety. I wouldn't put them down ever. Our vet would refuse. The animal could be ill with several problems that some medication or diet change could have fixed. Jesus, that's appalling!

Petunia, your fur baby is darling. Give him/her a belly rub for me.

Thanks Cupid! Geez,such a maroon!

Boes, Hazel sounds awesome. I love how some dogs have delusions about themselves, like my aunt's German shorthair pointer who really thought she was a lap dog.

I get that some people are not animal people, which is fine. But to casually dispose of them like a candy bar wrapper creeps me out.

My mastiff thinks he is a chihuahua and should get to sleep with his head in my lap. Yes,picture that. All 215 lbs. of him on me,100lbs.

Anyone who can casually dispose of a living being has a screw loose IMO.

Kudos to the Canadian women's soccer team! Go ladies!

DH took me out to lunch yesterday after i got my haircut (crappy job, it's uneven now and i hate that).  we went to the pub cause we play the texas hold 'em game while there and the soccer game was on.  watched when captain christine ran with the ball and got the second goal...crikey, she's good.  isn't this like her 3rd or 4th olympics too?  anyway, she makes me proud.

LOLOL  i saw on my facebook page, one of the 10 trending topics was donald pics with the 30 rock character jenna maroney (?) quips underneath.  funny how it all seemed to fit...

Hey!! Sorry for being silent. I was so sick of this shit show and we were heading out on our summer vacation so I took the opportunity for a break. I did come in to read on occasion but even that fell away because Rage Blackouts.

Sorry to hear Boes is hurt. :( And Valley -- hope you feel better soon, too.

All is well!! We bought a sailboat. I don't sail at all but my husband does so I will soon learn apparently. ;)

And my dad is almost home (discharge papers ready for Monday!). It's busy as hell. We need to get him sorted out with a walker and oxygen (for a short time hopefully) and all that other stuff in the house to help him get around while he recovers. But it's all wonderful. It got really bad in the last few weeks as he rapidly declined -- we had to have some tough conversations with doctors -- and then BAM he had a turnaround. So, fingers crossed this continues. In any case, I'm just thrilled he'll be home soon. He's spent the past two days at home on day passes and it's gone really well.

That is great about your Dad, Miamama, really great.  It's been such a long road.  That turnaround.....that's the sort of thing that just puts me in awe.  I'm very happy for you and your family.  Keep us informed about your sailing experience.  I've gone sailing a couple of times in the distant past.......I don't know if I was Gilligan or Ginger or one of the Howells, I just know I quickly became the last one to be given a life perserver.....

Got my compression boot today - Hazel the dog is not pleased with my new accessory.

In a speech at the University of North Carolina, Trump suggested gun owners could take Clinton out in order to prevent her appointing judges to the Supreme Court.

He's a turd. And comments like that should disqualify him from the race.

I got my hair done today and my hairdresser did a really nice job. The happiest I've been so far with him. When I got to the cash, I told the girl to add 15% to the bill as his tip as I was paying with debit. First she put the wrong amount before tip, then she forgot the tip, and the third time it went through. And she gives him $3.00. Confused and sleep deprived, I ask if she added 15% and she insists she did and 15% of $131.00 is $3.00.

He's trying to mask his disappointment, I'm still confused, and she's insistent. So I scrounge up another $3.00 out of my wallet and end up leaving. Until, finally, sitting the metro, I look up an app for tips and no way in hell was she right, which I knew and might have insisted on if I hadn't had just 2 hours of sleep the night before. Now, I'm going ot have to pass by tomorrow and give him the remainder of his tip because I feel bad. Stupid girl.

I'm surprised they even let you use your debit card to leave a tip.  Most places (besides bars and restaurants) won't do that.  Tips have to be in cash.

The NYTimes compiled a video of the crowds from many of his rallies.  It's pretty disturbing.  Let's just say he knows his audience very well.

Yeah, they usually add the tip (percentage or dollar amount) to the amount charged, and then remove the difference (the tip) from the till in cash and give it to the hair dresser. Never had a problem before and was asked many times in the past if I wanted to add a tip while paying debit but the girl looked new. And apparently can't do math.

In salons I've worked at when they did let customers do credit it or debit tips the owners kept it or didn't report the true $ to the stylists

that's the only incentive management have for taking it. It's always best to slip the money to the stylist or tech directly

I put my hair services on plastic, but always tip my hairdresser in cash.
