Both of my cats are on Science Diet C/D. It's good for urinary health maintenance. The antibiotics will take care of the crystals- don't worry!💓

Yes I spoke to George’s doctor this morning and he said there were so few of them the antibiotics should take care of it and not to be too worried. I think I’m going to buy him some broth (they sell organic ones in tetra packs at the pet store and Whole Foods) or have some made for him as well so he can get in more liquids.

That's a great idea - I'm going to try giving my cats some broth, too!  For my two cats, and I'm assuming most, they develop the crystals particularly if they eat dry food and aren't taking in enough water.  Mine won't touch wet food, which would help.  I think broth is a great idea!

Are your cats both males?

No...they're siblings, a male and a female.  Why do you ask?  I was sort of caught off guard that my female cat had this issue - her readings were way worse than her brother's!

Here they are as little ones.....they still sleep like this occasionally.

And this is them about a year ago......this is the only time I've ever seen them asleep like this!

So sweet! I love black cats and your tortie looks a lot like my Peaches. I asked because back when I was a vet tech we generally saw the crystals in male cats. Sometimes we had to make them in"females" if you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean!!

It was a lengthy process to get them diagnosed.  They went in for their annual checkup, shots, etc. and a couple of days later we got a call from out vet that their urinalysis came back with readings that looked like they were much older cats with much older kidneys!  There was a lot of protein in their urine and he was concerned.  So there was some sort of test to see what sort of protein and it turned out to be blood.  After more tests, trip to a specialist, it was determined that there were "probably" crystals in their bladder causing this minute amount of blood......we tried the food for three months, went back for a test and they both got clean bills of health.  They just had a 6 month checkup a couple of weeks ago and both were fine.  We really need to get them to drink more, though.

Our cat before these two was 19 and died of kidney failure.  We did the whole giving her fluids for 6 mos., so we are hyper sensitive when someone says that two 3 year old cats have the kidneys of a 10 year old cat!

We were talking AHS at my new job while I was in the managers office (off topic whew boy is it a different species busyyyyyyy and much more formal in service and in rules. I have been learning stuff but still am very much out of my depth. And still having trouble carrying the huge oval trays in wild crowds with the tray jack which gave the manager pause. I only shadow until Friday then I’ll be in a one booth or 2 booth section. Then if I handle that get 3 then a shift or so later 4).

Today I received an email from legacy.com with my mom's obituary, wanting money to re-up her guest book. Fuckers. 😭

I'm so sorry, that is horrible. I'm still getting stuff for my mom like that. It kills me.

AnegelKitty, how are you? I was thinking about you last night but it was too late to come in here.

Happy fall, y'all!  My trees are starting to turn and it's beautiful.  Spring and fall are my favorite times of year.

That horse was so beautiful.  I've loved horses all my life (read every Marguerite Henry horse book as a girl).  The folks across the street had two horses (our zoning at the time allowed livestock if you had the space (they had about 6 acres)...we're talking early '60's).  My house was at the very edge of a brand new plat.  We were the first owners...typical 3 bedroom ranch w/ basement, small yard.  Man did I have some parties and slumber parties down there.  We moved when I was 17.  Parents got divorced...yada yada.  Fun times while it lasted...except for the neighbors from hell next door.  But that's a story for another day.

Gotta good laugh for you.  Hubby brought this home from work, somebody found it on line.  Google "Spiders on drugs".  Too funny.

OMG, that was great! And from the Canadian Wildlife Service? They have a great sense of humour. Loved the pot spider. The only thing missing was a tiny bag of Doritios.

I'm cleaning my computer....getting ready to buy a new laptop and only want to transfer stuff over that I actually want.

Came across this.....which a friend sent to me after I came home from work and found that my two cats had completely destroyed roughly 40 of the 50 orchids I owned and grew, many I'd had for 25 years.  I was pretty well devastated.  Bark was everywhere around my house.  Plants were chewed up, flowers chewed off and hidden in the cushions of a chair (for safekeeping, later!), pots were tipped over and broken.  I loved my orchids but I love my cats more, since they cuddle with me at night!

I wish I could post a laugh and a sad.  Orchids are hard to grow (I've tried).  Damn...cats seem to know just what to go for sometimes.  Casper knocked off my favorite Fenton vase two days ago.  I kept it on the windowsill 'cause when the morning sun hits it it shoots rainbows everywhere.  He jumped up there and bumped it.  I yelled "Get down!"  He looked at me like "What cha gonna do?" and proceeded to knock it off and break it.

Makes you wonder "What did I do to piss you off this time, baby?"  *Cue the Blues Brothers*  Not keep the food dish filled to the proper level?  Water not cold enough?  Not enough pets this morning?

They are inscrutable critters....but damn, I love 'em.

Oh, I have a sad face for you about your favorite piece of Fenton!  I know how you felt!  I grow my orchids in their plastic pots, but slip them into Nelson McCoy or McCoy pots - so it was a double whammy - I lost orchids and pots that had taken years to amass.  But, those cats are more important to me than the pots or plants....I'm just glad that none of the pots, as they fell, konked them in the head - McCoy pots are HEAVY.  I wasn't angry so much at them as I was myself, for not protecting everything better.  Our previous cat never paid attention to the orchids in 19 years!  Who knew?

I have to say, that day I came home was pretty devastating, like watching my life's work go down the drain!  Once I got over it, which took a good week, I found a bright side.  Many of my orchids then were so old and were purchased in the late 80's and 90's and they all pretty much bloomed only once a year, but I had a lot in bloom at different times of the year.  So much hybridizing has taken place that, now, you can get orchids that  bloom two or three times a year!  I had a list of every orchid I had and I took it to the orchid nursery I've purchased from since I got into the hobby, and replaced about 20 of them (over time) with a similar flower.  They are so much better!  I was fortunate in that my very first orchid I ever got was spared in the bloodbath....I still have the one my husband gave me back in 1986 that started my love affair with growing them!

Orchids are so beautiful and elegant.

I had my first night serving at the new restaurant, a 2 booth only section they staged the seating, it went well but def is a different breed from other restaurants, like you have to be a PRO. Two tables went up to the owner’s brother who was hosting while I was in the kitchen or server station to compliment my service. There’s a ton of sidework too and they check the hell out of it. I can’t imagine how it is at Chicago Cut or Morton’s probably this level of professionalism x2.  Oh ... and my car dealership job stiffed me on my last paycheck (I had direct deposit) I called and left a polite but questioning vm which wasn’t returned.

It's been a day. Mr.Stunt and I had gone to a party Friday night and didn't get home until the early AM Saturday. We were debriefing post-party and Thing2 texts Mr.Stunt -- "sick" and an address.

We throw on clothes and race to the address; an apartment building in the middle of a block party. We're texting like crazy, charging through the building looking for Thing2 -- No luck. I'm about ready to start yanking out lip rings for information, when the friend Thing2 was with texts that he's at UCLA Med Center with appendicitis.

Thing2 had been feeling feverish, with an Ackey-Breaky GI, for over a week. In a fit of camaraderie and Pepto-Bismol, went to a student party featuring drinking keg beer and retching in bushes. Thing2 texts us and friend takes him to UCLA. He was on a gurney to emergency surgery when we arrived.

Thing2 missed a burst appendix by about an hour. He's resting and under observation for 48 hrs because of the length of time he was miserable and the condition of the appendix.

These two Tiger parents are wrung out.

@Petunia13, is there an lrb (labour relations board) office you can take your complaint about the dealership to?

Yeah I checked my bank today and nothing and mail (though why’d they mail it when I had direct deposit and they acted like paper issued pay checks were verbotten that would be weird). I guess I’ll call again Monday morning and then if crickets by afternoon call the Illinois Department of Labor and file a claim. They probably wouldn’t want that since in Illinois if they’re found in fault they get fined by them and have to pay me interest. I don’t know why people play these games, I remember a furniture sales job I had years ago while I was still there sometimes would pay me a week later than my pay period when they were short and I didn’t report them. Now I’m too old and jaded for these petty games. When I was driving to my steakhouse serving job Friday I saw the payroll lady from the dealership at a stoplight holding a sub sandwich and Cheetos and gabbing on her cell w her other hand, I know damn well there’s no excuse.

The guy who car jacked me was let out Wednesday afternoon w credit for time served. I got a text message alert and phone call from the victims coordinator. I agreed to it prior since that was the only way I could have a guaranteed restraining order for him and cuz he had a clean record the assistant states attorney thought he’d lose at trial and if he did I wouldn’t even get that.

I too hope @AngelKitty is doing well. Not only her but all of you I send so many prayers and thoughts over. @PatsyandEddie and @boes and @peacheslatour some of the things you say about your own lives affect me so much and have been so humbling regarding your character & strength. This is a pretty fucking awesome community of incredible people.

George is a lot better. I’ve been giving him his antibiotic and the pee inside at his minders that i was told was his wasn’t his after all, it was a leaky pipe and since I switched to just waitressing I’ve had more time w him on outings. So even though the dealership could have made me a lot of money and I did sell cars inspite of sabotage it truly wasn’t for the best for them or my life.

Wow......you have had quite the day/evening.  I can't even image what that must have felt like, looking for Thing 2 at a house party....... glad he was smart enough - and his friend was smart enough (and able enough) - to get to the hospital when they did.  Glad Thing2 is on the mend and hope you and Mr. Stunt can get some rest soon!

(((Loveme))) Thank you. It's a relief. The party guests were well into their cups and bong water, when we crashed their bacchanal. "Take the thong off your face, and tell me where's Thing2!"

I stayed overnight with Thing2, while Mr.Stunt picked up his study materials, clothes and toiletries. Nana Stunt (Mr.Stunt's grandmother) came to keep me company, and lecture Thing2 about ignoring his health and making "everyone sick with worry" -- a weak "Yes, Nana" was the sheepish response.

Nana get's it done.

I was going to post something last night, but was sure it would show up here in our daily news feed!

I am just bowled over and impressed by the young adults - many of them youngsters, really - who came out all over the world in support of the environment.  No matter what side of the fence you're on, it's impressive to see so many young people who can articulate how they feel and really put thought into it.  Ten year olds today are way different than when I was ten years old, I'll say that!  It's upsetting to me that they have to worry about this, that as adults, we can't or won't take care of it for them.

I particularly enjoyed some of the signs they were carrying, two of which were in the article @Cupid Stunt referenced:

"Keep the earth clean...it's not Uranus" - Mr. Lovesmesome and I saw that one on some other news outlet yesterday and had a good time laughing abut it!

"Don't fucking kill us" - that one is just heartbreaking to me.

Yes!  Same here Cupid.  He should be fine since he got there in time.  Hubby had appendicitis when he was 13 and it burst in the surgeon's hand!

Boychild lives about an hour away, never married (he's 47 so no grandkids for me) and I think about getting that call.  Scary.

Peaches...did you hear anything about AngelKitty yet?

No, nothing. I'm getting a little concerned. Cupid, so glad Thing 2 is ok. I worked with a guy who got acute appendicitis in his thirties, it was scary but he was fine. Good job on his friend for getting him to the hospital.

Amen Snaporaz.  It's wonderful to see the young'uns taking up the reins.  My generation protested against Vietnam and Watergate.  Climate change effects us all and anybody who denies it is an idiot.  The fact these kids are doing this at 13 or so is amazing.

Out of the mouths of babes.....
