Spoilers from today's IGN interview with EBR, SA and DR (transcribed from watching video posted in Spoilers thread):

-- SA: "We have a scene in the first episode which I really, really enjoyed because Emily has an opinion and I have an opinion and - or, Felicity has an opinion and Oliver has an opinion - and we really go at it in terms of like disagreeing and - loved the scene. We like high-fived afterwards."  EBR: "We were sorta working it - 'wow, that really turned into something completely different than what we had read."  SA: "Yep. True story." 

--  SA: "I want the original team to come back. I want Thea and John to come back. Felicity wants Oliver to recruit a new team because Oliver's actions at the conclusion of season 4 and Genesis Day - which is what we're calling what happened with Damien Dahrk - has inspired a lot of vigilantes within Star City. So, uh, she wants to move forward in a new direction and I want things to stay the same." 

-- SA confirmed that they do get some new team members, saying: "We do. We're bringing in Madison McLaughlin, Echo and, uh, Rick Gonzalez... By the way, he's a vigilante that wears a hockey mask." 

-- On whether Cody Rhodes plays an antagonist, SA: "We fight... One of the reasons I really really like Cody's character is because he is a spin on something that exists in the Berlanti universe but it's very Arrow centric. It's an Arrowverse version of something that we've seen a lot." 

-- EBR: "I still think she has the goal to sort of... she's got that chip in her back - a lot has happened to the girl in the last little bit - but I think she does want to proceed with making that distributable to the public and making it affordable and accessible. But in the meantime, Starling City and trying to get Oliver back on track with getting a new team together and having him face what the reality of our team is and having him not just only work alone, because he'll be in imminent danger - um, that's taking up a lot of her time. I don't know if she sleeps or goes to therapy, but I'm sure she has nightmares."

-- SA: "Chad's great. He and I fought in a confined space recently.... Tobias Church is a formidable gangster and, uh, one of the things that he's doing is... he's really - again, because of all of the things that have happened in Star City, that's really what we're focusing on this year. The mobs have risen up. And he has risen up to the top of that." 

-- In response to question of whether Tobias Church is someone who Oliver kinda created or influenced, SA: "Nope. No. We're going to find that person later. ... Oliver's actions, especially in season 1 of the show - and I think the show will go on past season 5, Mark Pedowitz... I think the show will go on beyond this season, but this really is - we really are closing a chapter, because this was envisioned and pitched as a five-year story, especially as it relates to the flashbacks. And the villain, the eventual villain that we find this year, is the result of Oliver's actions when he returned to Star City at the beginning of the series."

I tend to think that trying to make KC a place on the show had a ripple effect that did hurt the show pretty badly.  She's what turned Quentin stupid and into a creepy stalker.  So that wipes off the

The whole "she was fired, never coming back, blah blah blah" was all around these parts of the woods, never came out of their mouths.

Some "sources" aren't so resourceful.

I'm trying to figure out how flashpoint specifically impacts Diggle and I have no clue. Any ideas? Maybe he has baby Connor instead of baby Sara? LOL.

Well, that was less sizzle for me and more Oliver's beloved slow cooker. However, the past two days worth of Arrow cast antics have me more excited for S5 than I've been in a while so I'll still call it a win.

I was trying to see if I recognized the voice at the end who said "Green Arrow" because it sounds familiar but I can't figure it out!

I kinda really liked the Season 5 trailer? It's not groundbreaking, but I had super low expectations so I ended up loving it. It made me want to tune in.

LOL @ Laurel's last words to Oliver though.

Yeah, I can't figure out who it is, either. It's not Barry, is it (I'm guessing no, but with Flashpoint...?)

Also, glad Oliver has sleeves again.

So... Felicity and Oliver argue over a new team or the old team.. Judging by the trailer.. Felicity wins the argument and gets what she wants. What a surprise!!!!

But judging by how unskilled they are i'm HOPING they won't take too much screen time.

Just want OTA and not so many masks on the field. :S Season 1-3 had the best team dynamic with Sara being there in 2 and Roy being there in 3. Just wish we can have that back without having a cluster of masks.

It's a good thing that was spoiled ahead of time. I hope the never seeing her in present day is still stands. I knew her being fired was too good to be true.

I'm happy about the new sleeves on the costumes. Cry those tears for the comic canon costume!

I actually really enjoyed the trailer! I'm liking the new dynamics with the junior team. I'd like seeing Oliver be the mentor. I like seeing Thea helping Oliver out as Mayor and Felicity/Oliver being partners in the lair. 

The new team seems kind of fun. I really like Rick Gonzales and weirdly enough I really liked Curtis not wanting to feel helpless. 

I like Oliver's new suit as well! Thank god it has sleeves. Hope they make some meta joke about how it got cold wearing the sleeveless suit.

What I would've liked more was Diggle (but they haven't shot too much yet so I'll let it slide) and I would've liked to have seen more Quentin/Thea... I also would've liked a LOT less Laurel. 

But other than that it did its job to get me to tune into season 5.

I'm gonna say it outloud and please hold me accountable!:

If KC shows up more than twice (in small amounts!) in present day on Arrow and LOT I am quitting both shows!- god forbid if they try to make BS and Oliver a thing. (they do flashbacks with her.. but super super minimal- I will just not watch that episode live, Flashforward is gonna be my new temp friend when she's on).

I will be done and over, not just with the verse but with Berlanti headed shows too. I can't take it anymore.

I actually don't care. Laurel is dead. I always thought they might use her for flashbacks anyway because they have with Tommy. They didn't kill Black Siren so that was always a possibility too. And time travel exists on LoT.  It'll probably be a handful of brief appearances and seeing as she was barely there anyway...  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Give the dude a break, he was still super freaked out the island picture of doom was IN HER WALLET FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS and he was thinking about how to go about getting a restraining order.

Seriously. All she can show up on Arrow for is a flashback or two, and who cares. I don't watch Flash anymore and I don't watch LoT either, so her appearances on those shows gets a big "Whatever" from me.

Same. I don't watch Flash or LoT and I can fast forward her couple of minutes worth of scenes if I wanted to. She's still dead, IMO. So yeah.

Honestly, I'm not too worried about KC being a 'series regular across the Berlanti universe'. I think they wanted to have the best of both worlds. AKA, giving Laurel/BC/KC fans hope and to avoid more backlash than they've already gotten by basically giving them promises that she'll still be in the Flarrow universe. But seeing as MG is insistent that she won't be alive in present time, her screentime on Arrow will probably be just flashbacks/hallucinations/dreams. So she probably won't be in that many episodes, but it won't be a surprise to anyone when she does appear. I honestly think she'll appear in maybe six episodes of Arrow, if that. It's not ideal, but I'll take that over KC being in every single episode. 

Now it's time to return to the Arrow threads now that footage is starting to come out.
