100%.  It feels like the league is stopping at nothing to have a guy & an NFL franchise trump the dynasty that preceded it.

It's vexatious to be honest; the NFL would love to have the Chiefs finish as a better, more epic dynasty than the Patriots.  That may be due to the antics of the latter, which FWIW, was enabled by?  The NFL themselves!

Most fans don't want to see dynasties. And I say this as a fan who's team was one of the original dynasties.  It is not fun to watch year after the year the same team always going to the SB. And when that team is clearly getting favorable calls it only makes it worse. It's not like KC as been some powerhouse team this year.  A lot of their wins could have easily been loses.  According to Fox Sports their offense ranking was 16th. Their defense was ranked 9th. As of right now they are favored to beat to Buffalo but lose to Philly in the SB. Thank god for small favors I guess.

I wouldn't have a big issue with it if other teams won within all of the winning the Chiefs have done.  It doesn't help that they'll probably win beating the same teams too.  How would they perform against a Washington or a Detroit (probably beating both anyway).  Or how will they do against teams within their own division like Los Angeles or Denver (still surviving but it's division football).

At least New England routed their opponents.  As mentioned, I would be okay if other teams won once in a while.  Even other teams pulled through during the Pats dynasty (Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, GMEN, Denver, and Philadelphia).

IMO, it shows how gullible the league is.  They'd love to have an NFL 3-peat since MLB and the NBA have one.  Yet, they'd never turn the NFL into a players league.  No way the owners would even allow players, coaches, GMs, etc to be the star/moving force like the NBA does today.

BTW, I actually admire that (the league should not be a players league).  I'm not a fan trying to emulate something else & profiting off of it but still retaining the power & revenue.  Not that it'll have me quitting the sport as a fan but it's not great for the league if the same thing happens over & over again.  Especially with the seasons being longer than ever before (and that's expected to get even longer in the near future).  Other people might stop watching, but fortunately Taylor Swift "entered the chat" and that more than makes up for the fans that bolted!

Like everything else, this dynasty will end and the Chiefs will turn back to the awful version just like the Patriots.  Andy Reid isn't going to be coaching forever!

And if you believe Patrick Mahomes he won't be playing forever.  He has said he wants to leave when he is still  young enough to enjoy his kids. And Kelce has Hollywood waiting for him.

Kelce is done with another SB win.  They I can hear his boasting when the Chiefs fail next year (saying he wasn't there, that's why they lost!).

The only thing left for Mahomes is his definition of young.  If he retires next month, he will be Canton-bound in 2030.  New England would have bragging rights saying that New England won for 20 years (I supposed).  KC might do more in much less time.  I don't think Patrick cares about winning for 20 years.  Hopefully, and fortunately family is first, and that's awesome.  Congrats to the latest edition.  As mentioned, that's it for Patrick & Brittany.  Great that it's complete and neither one have hit the 30s yet

Him and his brother (and his mother) all bug me.  They just all seem to be everywhere.

Peyton and Eli don't bother me.  I hated Peyton as a QB but as a pitch man it's all good. And I have always had a soft spot for Eli mostly because he beat the Pats twice in the SB.

It's basically modern day Kardashians.  Or Kardashians that (doesn't) come(s) with noise cancelling headphones

Important point for me is that, overexposed as they are, the Kelces and the Mannings aren’t merely famous for being famous.

I never liked Peyton when he was a Colt.  It wasn’t until SB XLII, with multiple shots of Peyton in the box unabashedly cheering on Eli and the Giants, that I started to soften a little bit.  And his United Way mockumercial on SNL is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched.

Whether I like it or not, bad calls happen all of the time.  All I can say is to have that Tennis mentality (which isn't really required in the other 5 major sports).  That's win by at least more than the minimum & leave no doubt.

To this day, I still support Suggs being rather unhappy during the post Halftime Show mishap 12 years ago when his team was on track to end things earlier than they did.

I like them, of course they're Clevelanders and born in my hometown.

However I do think they are overexposed.

I'm sorry but there's no way you can compare them.  The Kelce brothers have TALENT.

I agree I like them too & they are nothing like the Kardashians. I can agree too they are prob a tad overexposed but they seem like nice genuine ppl to me.

Okay, yeah that was harsh calling them "NFL Kardashians" of the 2020s.  The similarity is that they're on television a lot.  So there's that.

Plus, I'd drink with them before several others.  To be fair & as far as I know, they haven't violated the law or committed a federal crime.  There are a ton of worse people in the league than both Jason and Travis.

The only off-field thing I've seen them in is Jason's documentary.  I was glad to see Jason being a reasonably involved father, even during the season.  And I appreciated how honestly he spoke about the beating his body had taken, and at what point it was no longer worth it; he and his wife talked about his retirement in terms of him potentially not being able to get up and down to play with them if he kept on with that beating, while acknowledging his drive to play as long as he could (both for love of the game, and for the money).

Meanwhile, Joe Montana is sitting at home watching the replay of Jim Burt taking his head off that resurfaces every year during the playoffs and is like “these Johnny-Come-Latelys couldn’t handle what I had to”.

The Leonard Marshall hit was even worse - if someone did that to Mahomes they'd toss the guy in jail.

I had about 5 to 10 minutes to "waste" so I looked at a webpage I often use to track head coach & general manager movement.  From there comes the Aaron Glenn & Jets reunion.

Upon going to ESPN as well as the main NFL website to read more about that and other stuff, I learn that Jacksonville has let their general manager go.  Which is fair enough; funny thing was that they were just talking about that on HERD today (and how the guy has been a disaster while not being a fan of Jim in San Francisco).

I'd still stick with Tampa.  While the South in both conferences aren't that good, it's probably easier to get out of the NFC than it is the AFC.  Though that's subject to change

He's going to Jax.  Two years straight Baker has played so well they've lost their OC.

Tampa might have a problem next season remaining on top of the NFC South, esp with Michael Pennix coming into his own, and Tampa's defensive struggles this year.

Nothing official with Jacksonville yet, but something that was developing for Las Vegas is now official.

Question remains whether he'll exit that post before one, 2, or all of the other 3.  On another note, it's possible that the new Jaguars coach could exit after one, 2, or all of the other three in the AFC South

Edited to add a link that validates the post from roamyn above

Could you clarify to me what you mean?  I'm not sure I understand.

Do you think Liam Coen will only last a year?  Or are you saying Demeco Ryans will leave Houston before Liam leaves Jacksonville?

ETA I'm not sure the Pete Carroll hire is a good match, if they draft a QB.  Pete hasn't had recent success developing young QBs.  Geno had been in the league awhile before he blossomed in Seattle.  Unless LV goes after Kirk or Darnold.  Then I could see it working better.

Sort of a joke to the AFC West situation.  I would not be surprised for a second if Carroll gets fired before the other 3 in that division.  Meanwhile, it's not that far fetched if Indy, Houston, and Tennessee all have coaching chances if Jacksonville does well with Coen and Lawrence.  If they roll for half a decade that's enough as the ownership within the AFC South is the opposite of tremendous

In case anyone was wondering, DeShaun Watson's girlfriend posted video online  of them dancing prior to his recent re-injury.  In it, he is not wearing the protective boot that people wear for months after an Achilles' injury.  No surprise there.  I hope the Browns void his contract and release him.

For those who question how smart any woman would be for dating him, I think we have the answer.

DeShaun ignores doctor's orders

Of course, my reaction is not directed at you Notabug since you obviously weren't the subject here.  However, it's rather annoying that they had great in the building, said no thanks, and thought they could do better.  Not the best, but better.  Then because nobody there can admit a mistake, they doubled down.  Thankfully Coach Kevin is still there, but if he were to have gotten the boot, at least he'd  have been hired elsewhere.

Dammit, I was all prepared to cut the cord entirely with the Raiders thanks to Tom Brady, but I must root for Pete Carroll, so now I can't.  It's okay, he probably won't last long.

I was all prepared for Tom Brady to be announced as the next Head Coach & General Manager amid the Sports Media constant talk of Patrick Mahomes 3rd consecutive Super Bowl.

But rooting for Pete Carroll there.  No cord-cutting for me.  I think he'll do okay for about 2-3 years before he gets kicked out.

What is it going to take to get rid of Watson?  An exorcism?  You know I'm not a Browns fan but I feel bad for you guys.  He brought bad karma with him when he joined the team.

As a Supernatural fan, I wonder if Sam & Dean have a solution for getting rid of vile QBs and owners.

Despite this bad year, @Carey, I too am glad Stefanski is still our coach.

The Texans have fired OC Bobby Slowick and the O-Line coach.

I can see firing the O-Line coach.  They struggled to protect CJ all year.  But Special Teams struggled too.  Moreso than the Offense, I think.  And they lost both Diggs & Dell midway through the season, which is when the Offense really started to struggle.

...And yet?  It was the refs

It was.  Not 100%, the Special Teams sucked badly that game.

But you cannot deny that there were several BS calls against the Texans, non-calls on the Chiefs, and they spotted them incorrectly on at least one play (by a yard) that would've given the Texans a new set of downs.  Troy doesn't like the Texans but he was calling out the Refs for shoddy work all game against the Texans.

ETA Dallas has named Brian Schottenheimer their new HC.  Can't wait to hear Stephen A's rampage on this one Monday.  Not that he'll be wrong, but SAS had his heart set on Deion, which I figured was not going to happen due to Jrry's love of control & limelight.

Oh yeah if this is true, then his contract is void.   GF might have posted her man out of the gold she intended to dig.

Glad to see nepotism is still going strong.

That being said, you're right about this being all about Jerry Jones wanting to remain the main man.  His q&a sessions will generate more coverage than Schottenheimer's.

I like the Carroll hire for the Raiders. He knows how to build a culture and organization. He should be able to get good coordinators, so there'll be someone he can groom to take over after him, plus someone who can develop a young QB. I don't see Davis firing him; he listens to Brady and Brady understands the importance of building a functional organization and attracting top coaching talent. The Raiders finally have a legitimate name as a HC and if they want to be able to get the same for Carroll's successor, they have to treat Carroll right.

As for the Cowboys, yeah, Aikman was right that this isn't a coveted job. Jones hired someone who didn't draw any HC interest from other teams, when good OCs usually can get a couple of calls at least.

Reading about Dan Snyder being so angry that the Commanders are doing well makes me happy. I'm definitely rooting for whichever NFC team makes it to the Super Bowl this year. And I have good friends who love the Bills, so I wouldn't be unhappy if they ended up winning the Super Bowl either. Here's hoping the Chiefs' run ends tomorrow!

I think Jimmy & Dee might be the dumbest owners in the history of sports if they find a way or a reason to something other than the right & necessary thing

He isn't even that good of a QB anymore. It's bad enough they bet the farm on him and now with a possible out there is a good chance they stick with him.   Meanwhile Baker Mayfield is living his best life.
