I wouldn't call it hypocricy. I think most people would be in favour of actors having their own headcanons and those getting to be part of the show if they fit the viewer's headcanon as well. It is a part of the actors' jobs to create the character. Some of them go strictly by the book, others add to it. Both approaches can range from horrible to excellent. What I am firm on is that the producers should have a better grasp of the whole picture and make the final decisions in the best interest of the show and its characters. If the best decision coincides with an actor's proposal, why not? But they do need to say no if the proposal doesn't serve the story they want to tell.

It's their job to create the character and I'm in favor of them making the character more real but in a way that fits the narrative. As I said yesterday I don't think actors should push for their own headcanons when it doesn't fit the character's journey and relationships we are seeing unfold on screen.

EBR said she and KC had the idea that FS and LL were BFFs because they are too so she said they tried to add a little something to the group scenes to make it look like that because the writers weren't developing LL and FS as close friends.

KC pushed her headcanon of LL pining for Oliver all her life despite I could swear the narrative was (before 4x16 and following episodes) telling us she moved on and was an independent woman who knew she deserved better than someone who treated her like Oliver did.

I said that in both situations I don't think it should be the actors' job to push an headcanon that goes against the narrative. While for example if KC said she thinks she and Thea had movie nights on Sunday's to make a silly example than I would have had no issue with that because the narrative supports LL and Thea being very close this season. It's not about my personal preference but what makes sense to me.

Than of course the writers can listen or not listen, it's up to them, but I think the actors should also think about what they suggest as well.

I did not miss it. When you say when it improves the character you are saying it from your POV and that is the whole point. We have two situations that we agree don't fit the narrative because the writers didn't develop them and in one case you were all for it because from your POV it would have improved the characters and in the other you weren't because from you POV it damaged the character. You judge two identical situations in a different way based on a personal preference.

I know we aren't supposed to talk about other fans so I apologize in advance, mod delete if you find it inappropriate, but some LL fans who have always been for L/O loved that scene because they have always thought she was still in love with him, so for you and for me personally it's a terrible send off, for them a great one.

As I said in the previous post we should probably move on.

Maybe more people wanted it but some of their fans didn't bother seeing as KC always turns up late or tears biceps or whatever was going on with her yesterday.

I can always count on KC having entertaining WTF? panels. I liked getting confirmation that we were right and she never moved past her season 1 character which is probably the reason her character didn't fit in the show Everyone else moved forward, while she stayed in the past. Making none of her scenes make any sense in the narrative they were presenting on screen.

pretty much, you got pushed through not even a look in the eye for most. SA did thank everyone after the picture was taken.  if there was a kid or handicapped person they get extra attention which is fair, in my book. 

they said no poses but quite a few got some shots, most wanted to hug SA and push EBR away.  the ones that amused me were the ladies that asked to hug EBR instead SA didn't quite know what to do with those.

Im confused because one person said the printers weren't working but then another one said that they were prioritizing KC photos. ??

I agree. I don't have a single bad thing to say about him with regards to the way he treats his fans. He seems to be consistently great with them.

At one of the cons I went to, the printer broke and they allowed us to pick up photo ops the next day if we were still in town or mailed them out to people if they didn't pick it up.

Putting this in bold, capital letters to attempt to make my point as clear as possible here.

THIS IS NOT HOW TELEVISION WORKS.

First, the writers are not in charge. The network - or in Arrow's case, the networks - are. 

Second, absolutely writers listen to the actors. That doesn't mean that writers automatically agree with actors, but they listen. And very often, they take the actors' viewpoints or suggestions into consideration. And yes, if your lead actor comes to you suggesting a costume change, you listen. (And for the record, Arrow took Katie Cassidy's costume suggestions into account as well.) 

In fact, I'll go further: a screenwriter who doesn't listen to and work with actors will get fired. 

With that said, third, actors are hired to play what is in the script.

The script for season 3 was clear: Laurel had moved on. After two seasons of characters continuously reminding us how terrible Oliver and Laurel were together and how unlikely it would be for them to ever get together again, season 3 hooked up Laurel with a second post-Oliver love interest and then had Laurel say, in script, that she couldn't even remember why she'd fallen in love with Oliver in the first place. Season 3 also showed her making friends with Oliver's new love interest and turning to Nyssa, not Oliver, for emotional support and training.

Then, months after this was filmed, and while Arrow was setting up Oliver's planned proposal to Felicity, Katie Cassidy - in her own version - went to the showrunner and told him that Oliver was still the love of Laurel's life. 

Katie Cassidy is describing this as her input into the show and her character, and she's not wrong. But while I just said that writers absolutely should and must work with actors, it goes the other way as well - actors have to work with writers, directors and producers.  If you want to know why Katie Cassidy was fired, and not Willa Holland or David Ramsey or Paul Blackthorne or John Barrowman or Echo Kellum or EBR, forget conspiracy theories and the "it was the best choice for the story" and everything else. It's this.

The other regulars played what's in the script. Katie Cassidy, for whatever reasons, didn't.
