Well, it's the model Erin's grown up with, isn't it? You just have to grift to keep your head above water (sort of) and God will eventually provide a new house and a tv show. What they both lack the critical thinking skills to realize is that

a) the moment for 'wholesome' freak shows that encouraged the audience to either mock or aspire to a mega family life, (depending on how you felt about this particular fringe community)  has passed.

b) even in its heyday, a show about an underemployed couple with 6 kids and a sort-of farm wasn't interesting enough to bring those sweet tv dollars.

c) With all the inflation and the fact that Carlin (at least) is living the life of Riley, I doubt people are as receptive to "but we're homeless because we love Jesus! Give us a house!"

Wow. I guess they are learning that God does not always provide.

I wonder how much they spent fixing up this place? How much the animals cost to feed? Anyone remember that small camper they renovated never to be seen again? They really have made some poor financial decisions over the years.

I can only imagine how Erin feels watching Carlin in Dubai and Whitney in NYC.

I watched that video. They didn't appear to be worried about the next move. I think they have something up their sleeve and are just being coy so they can play the we are just waiting for Jesus to tell us what to do game.  If these were my children I would sit  both of them down and read them the riot act. They have brought 6 children into this world and have no plans as to how to support them.  Erin and Chad are lazy plain and simple.

Right? Carlin's sipping lattes from the balcony of the W, and Whit took Bradley and Kaci to NYC to see where they filmed Home Alone 2. How badly do you think Erin is kicking herself for refusing to do paid ads, as well as leaving that Boutique?

She could be kicking herself. But never underestimate the power and “comfort” of self-righteousness. She may very well be congratulating herself that she and her children are not being exposed to such sinful, worldly things and, therefore, guaranteed a spot in heaven. Who needs an actual home and financial security if you’re on God’s good side and worshipping the right Jesus?

Or she’s telling herself that. 😉

That's a good point.  Does anyone think Chad is really stubborn behind the scenes of the videos they issue?  As in, "no you will not" with any idea or suggestion she might come up with?  He seems very placid on what we see, but, who knows.

Oh, most definitely. In the beginning of their marriage, Chad catered to Erin, but sometime in the last few years, the script flipped.

When Erin first started doing YouTube, she had great content. It was a lot of recipes, homemaking, hair and makeup tutorials, practical tutorials on organizing; and she pulled in huge numbers. When they moved to Florida and the videos became more Chad and religion-centered, the numbers have dropped. People want to watch Erin cook. They don't give a shit about Chad making birdhouses.

Also, notable that during their shop's Black Friday sale, Erin's homemade skin cream sold out. Chad's man cards did not. Anyone detecting a pattern here?

Chad is obsessed with turning every aspect of their lives into a ministry and it's failing, and for whatever reason, Erin's going with it.

Interesting. But hasn't she been trained in "the headship" model? So on the surface she would go along with it. And maybe struggle with keeping sweet

I have to believe that the problem is that Chad just doesn’t have one iota of common sense.

I think Tikky ditched Alyssa. She wasn't getting the acknowledgment she wanted, so she moved on to a more desperate grifter. The whole situation is so bizarre. It would be one thing if Tikky owned a boutique and she was sending free dresses in exchange for publicity, but she's just some random fan? It's like the anonymous stalker who sent Katie mugs with her kids pictures on them. None of the Bates find this stuff potentially dangerous and problematic?
