omgsowicked November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 Becky visits her brother in juvenile detention, but she can’t bring herself to forgive him. Desperate for a distraction, she auditions for a new school band. Zoë pushes the cheer squad too hard and they crack under the pressure. A major obstacle affects Eli and Clare’s relationship Link to comment
starri November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 I guess it's been a while since we've seen a band. Nothing is going to top Stüds. Nothing. 2 Link to comment

Zima November 23, 2014 Share November 23, 2014 Even though I hated THEM, I really liked a song that Ashley and Craig performed at one of the school dances. The lyrics to the choros went something like "There was nothing at all, there was nothing at all, there were only dreams of youuuuuuu!" I would have purchased the single if it had been available. Admittedly, I'm tired of band storylines on this show. Why does every single student have to be super talented? I get that the actors themselves are most likely multi-talented, but that doesn't mean their characters have to be as well. I remember when Fiona auditioned for a school musical, and she was terrible; that was a breath of fresh air. Link to comment
Bubbles November 23, 2014 Share November 23, 2014 Dave was also a terrible singer when he formed The Three Tenners with Connor and Wesley, but then the writers completely forgot about that and made him the lead in the Romeo and Jules musical the next year. I kind of like the band story lines as long as the bands seem like real high school kid bands, i.e., not that great, but bless their hearts, they're really trying. The thing with Studs doing a movie in LA got kind of ridiculous. 1 Link to comment
Quof November 23, 2014 Share November 23, 2014 Every one of the band storylines just reminds me of entire high school life; my brother and his loser friends gathered at our house every day after school to "rehearse" because ours was the only house without an adult, and it certainly didn't matter that they were annoying the hell out of me. Notwithstanding all this rehearsal, they never, ever played in public. Of course, they were worse than every Degrassi band. 1 Link to comment
omgsowicked November 26, 2014 Author Share November 26, 2014 Spinner! When they announced the mystery cameo, I knew it'd be him... so great, and it felt natural, too, not like a big, out of place guest spot. They don't get a lot of their previous cast members to return so that was lovely. Clare/Eli/Drew - I gotta say, I'm really surprised that the show isn't treating Eli and Eclare like they're on a pedestal anymore. I love how Eli's seeing how good Drew is with Clare, and how happy she is with him... it probably makes him even angrier, that Drew's actually not so bad. And the distinction between the two guys is pretty clear; Drew's getting her healthy foods, Eli's getting her sushi she can't eat. Drew takes responsibility for saying a not-so-nice (but not totally inaccurate) comment, Eli complains about his "soulmate" getting knocked up and his life being ruined. I mean, to be fair, this is still new to him, and I get it, I so get that this situation sucks. But I hate his attitude. He's mad because "his" woman has been tainted by some interloper who's ruining their fairytale. It's so gross. He needs to be open to rewriting some of the story, or he needs to walk away for good. Clare and Drew were willing to work with him but after that altercation (which I'm so glad Clare witnessed)... well, I'm sure the door's still open because Clare can't seem to shake him but it's going to be even more uncomfortable for everyone involved now. Zoe - Zoe's almost at the edge of no return. Now she's emotionally manipulating these girls, by buying them gifts, pretending to be a sweetie, using her trauma to get them to come back to her. It's sickening and I worry that she'll go too far and never be able to be redeemed. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the story but wow, it's twisted. I'm so glad Frankie quit rather than be forced into doing something she didn't want to do (and that was huge for a 14 year old to do, to resist peer pressure like that). I gotta say, though... is business really booming ("that's a lot of zeros")? There are only, what, 15 girls? Wouldn't the novelty have worn off already? LOL. Becky - Becky made it sound like her home life was terrible, that her parents turned on her... but her mom seemed pretty nice to her. Granted, she still doesn't seem to understand that her son is a piece of shit, but she didn't seem to be treating Becky poorly, either. So I don't really know what to make of that. Her scene with Luke was really fantastic (am I the only one wondering if he might kill himself, after hearing Becky say that there was nothing he could do to fix things?) and it almost made up for all that terrible singing. As for Jonah, he got much more of an intro than Lola and Shay (who we still don't know anything personal about) but I'm neither here nor there with him at the moment. I'm interested in seeing more, though. I'd like for him and Becky to remain friends (guys and girls keeping things platonic? What?!) but I don't think I'd be too upset with them getting together. They have religion in common, and now the band, so either way, it would probably be beneficial for Becky to be around him (pending any new developments). 1 Link to comment
possibilities November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 I love Becky. I really love her. Even when she's wrong, she's right. Also surprised by how tolerable I'm finding the pregnancy plot. Grace is also awesome. It's ridiculous that they make her this source of wisdom for her peers, and never give her a story of her own, but "maybe you'd do better if you weren't such a bitch" was awesome. Though of course Zooey couldn't stick with it for more than half an insincere second. 1 Link to comment
luckyroll3 November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 Where was Spinner's wedding ring? They better not bring Emma back. Manny on the other hand..... Another solid episode for me. I chuckled through most of it. Especially Becky singing Cherry Bomb and Imogen asking her if she knew what the song was about, cause I was asking the TV the same thing. 2 Link to comment
drivethroo November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 Where was Spinner's wedding ring? They better not bring Emma back. Manny on the other hand..... I haven't watched this show in years; I couldn't get into the Holly J/Sav/Clare/Fiona bunch. I would totally watch a Degrassi adult spinoff show, though. I was flipping channels, saw Degrassi and decided to tune in. Funny (and realistic) to see Mr. Perino still at Degrassi. About fell off the couch to see Spinner! It would be cool to see him from time to time at the Dot. Maybe he's preparing for the police academy on the side? If Spinner didn't have a wedding ring on, he might not wear one because he works in food service. Or perhaps Emma left him. I could see Spinner sticking in the marriage, but Emma leaving him to "find herself" or protest against the patriarchal chains of marriage or some such. 1 Link to comment
Daisy November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 I love Frankie. She's obviously the Emma, Holly J, Clare of the series, and she is my favourite. I love her. she made me want to cry when she was faced with a decision and instead of caving in (which most people do), she handed it over, and quit. Squeeeee on Spinner. hehe. so is it summer? but they're in school? Link to comment

I think it's supposed to be a few weeks after Spring Break (Thunderstruck was the start of the break, Smells Like Teen Spirit was the end of the break). Eli was looking for a summer job but it seems like he'll start working at The Dot sooner. Link to comment
luckyroll3 November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 Eli's college semester is over in a couple weeks, so his summer is starting earlier than Degrassi. Frankie was great this episode. I'm glad she stood up to Zoe. Although, Zoe is this close to showing those girls her pimp hand. I can definitely appreciate that her character is consistent. Link to comment
MegaJ November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 This was probably my favorite episode out of the lot. A-Plot. I loved all the references to religion/forgiveness in this episode and Becky trying to reconcile with that. She tried to keep the peace, forgive and be a good Christian but in the end she just wasn't honest with herself or others. She's understandably angry with Luke (who's still a asshat) and I'm glad she realized that she didn't have to forgive him just like her mom was pushing her to do. It's not surprising her family is grasping to those "forgiveness/repentance" straws; I live in the American South where Becky's from and a lot of those types of people/families are in their own bubble and clamp down on feelings. Not sure how I feel about Jonah yet (especially after he read that private letter), and not sure how I feel about Becky/Jonah. I supposed that is one way to keep Sarah Fisher involved with the show, if she's recurring she can visit Jonah I guess. I did like how he showed her up with the Bible quote. And Perino teaching post-war reconstruction? God, I just love it when the subject their teaching ties in with the plot. B-Plot. Eli kinda sucked in this episode, but at the same time I can understand his where he's coming from. He had plans with Clare, plans in New York and they're being derailed and all the kids are still young so they haven't realized that life can throw curveballs. And he (just like Becky!) was finally honest with himself and admitted he was angry at Clare. Which, is understandable. She dumped him and then immediately had sex with Drew afterwards and even if they were technically broken up, that has to sting. Of course they'll be some sort of reconciliation between Clare and Eli, but I do like seeing them apart a bit to get some character development away from each other. And LMFAO at Spinner still working at The Dot. But he was interviewing Eli, so I'm glad he has a managerial role at least. Some people just peak during high school, lol. It was still nice seeing him. C-Plot. I like how Grace his being used in small doses here, being the voice of reason. Also glad she's involved with the sketchy Oompchat plot, it keeps her from being a total Sue. She definitely gave Zoe some perspective, making Zoe being honest with herself (Just like Becky and Eli! I love it Degrassi does this) about her motives. I understand her leading Power Cheer with an iron fist, she's just trying to get some power back after being left helpless. I didn't appreciate her trying to pressure Frankie into sending nudes after all she's been through in regards to being taken advantage of, but at least Frankie was given an out. This Oompchat thing is going to blow up in the worst way, I can totally see Power Cheer being disqualified from competition when someone blows the whistle. Link to comment
cbosdell November 27, 2014 Share November 27, 2014 I really want an adult spinoff of Degrassi with some of the original TNG characters. Manny, Jay, Spinner, even Darcy or Emma would be nice to see again and more engaging than most of these season 14 characters. They could even fit Eli and Claire in it after they graduate. 1 Link to comment
Zima November 27, 2014 Share November 27, 2014 I am loving this season so far! I usually hate pregnancy plots, but this one is so weird and different. Zoe is crazy, but sympathetic. Becky is annoying, but lovable. I like Maya, Tristan, and Zig. The slow-introduction of the other niners is really working. Grace is my favorite, and I hope she gets her own plot soon. The only thing that really bugs, which has ALWAYS bugged me about this damn show, is how there is NO TEACHER INVOLVEMENT in any of the after-school activities. No one to question where the hell Zoe came up with all that money to buy that equipment. Random field trips off-campus during lunch hours. Lol @ Spinner interviewing Eli. Eli just walks out of the interview to beat some ass, and still gets hired? Whatever, show. Link to comment
Chairperson Meow November 30, 2014 Share November 30, 2014 Can I say I still miss Craig? And I did love the Spinner/Jimmy rap the best. I'd have bought some of the Craig band songs. Also, the one written about Paige's rape and Craig cheating on Ashley were amazing songs too. Link to comment
mjgchick November 30, 2014 Share November 30, 2014 How does the show expect me to want Eli and Claire to work it out when Drew is being way to adorable with Claire? I get that Eli is angry at Claire but I can't still find an ounce to feel sorry for him when he cheated on Claire in the first place plus Claire doesn't seem to play games with Drew like she does Eli. I love Frankie so much after this episode. Her standing her ground was way more feminist than Zoe's child porn idea. I do love Zoe though. I've loved her since the episode before she got raped. Also im loving the 10th graders not Miles and Tristan even though I like them as a couple for some reason. Maya has been a huge improvement from last season. I know the actress hated her character last season so I hope she enjoys her job this season. lol Becky, I love that little ball of sunshine. Fuck her brother honestly. Even though her mom doesn't seem to hate her i get the feeling she begrudgingly is there for her daughter hoping she can forgive her rapists of a son. Oh and Becky is totally cheating on Drew with rocker boy. She has a type, just hope this one doesn't die... SPINNER! I'm guessing Emma dumped his ass for a cause and or Sean. This also makes me miss Craig, Jimmy, Paige, Ellie and even Ashley's trifling ass. Link to comment
kickedinthehead December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 (edited) Why am I still watching this show (which I'm far too old to be watching)? I guess I feel some sort of obligation to see it through from beginning to end? Anyhow, this was one of the better episodes of the season. The Becky/Luke story is one of the more interesting ones so that plot was fine (though I agree, the band storylines are beyond tiresome). Zoe irritates me, but if I must watch her, I prefer "mean" Zoe to "victim" Zoe. Eli, Clare, and Drew should have all gone away a long time ago; but I suppose their storyline could be worse. I'm just glad that Tristan, Miles, Zig, and Maya were either barely seen or not in the episode at all. It was ... uh, nice to see Spinner (I suppose). meatball77 December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 I can't figure out where they're going with the kiddie porn storyline. Because in real life they'd all end up arrested for distributing child porn and Zoe would get a huge sentence for being their pimp. Link to comment
luckyroll3 December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 SPINNER! I'm guessing Emma dumped his ass for a cause and or Sean. I would totally watch a spinoff with this storyline! Link to comment

aradia22 December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 They're doing Bring It On, aren't they? This is so Bring It On. Tristan and Eli talked like they'd never met before. Less disturbed by Becky singing Cherry Bomb and more disturbed by her screwing with the melody. Also, Prodigal Spoon? Really? Yeah, Eli. I can really see how you'd want to hang onto that feeling... of not breathing. I actually don't mind the Eli/Clare epic romance. I mind that the writers create a lot of nonsense drama and then either want to reset or have the epic romance persist in spite of it without actually having the story alter for the changes. It's plain to see why Zoe is so determined to make Power Cheer a success. Her oomphchat plan is still stupid beyond belief. Oh my God, is Prodigal Spoon going to be a Christian rock band? Poor Munro. I wish Eli was connected to another character other than Clare. He's not a bad actor. Zoe is super devious but I kind of like her putting her acting skills to use. Did I miss something? When did Luke become a rapist? Frankie's banishment in the locker room was pure Lifetime movie goodness. So Becky is too Christian to lie but not Christian enough to forgive a repenting sinner? Also, "nothing you say or do"? I get "nothing you say" but "nothing you do" seems super harsh. What sect of Christianity are they? The only thing that really bugs, which has ALWAYS bugged me about this damn show, is how there is NO TEACHER INVOLVEMENT in any of the after-school activities. No one to question where the hell Zoe came up with all that money to buy that equipment. Random field trips off-campus during lunch hours. Yup. Also, how did they get there? In the bus they can't afford to rent? Claire doesn't seem to play games with Drew like she does Eli. No, she just berates him and blames him for everything. Link to comment
