Maybe I missed something, but why was Benson being such a bitch to Rollins?  I admit, I miss many details as this show no longer holds my full attention, but has this been an ongoing thing?  And if so, has it ever been explained?

The verdict reversal was ridiculous.  I agree that this HAS to come up again with regard to that judge.  How would that be allowed to happen?

Add me to the list of people who so wanted Barba to be held in contempt.

I think she's been frosty towards Rollins ever since the events of Gambler's Fallacy.

I am constantly wondering the same thing.  I guess I should go back and re-watch the episode where Rollins' gambling addiction is addressed.  But yeah, every time Benson is utterly bitchy toward Rollins, it just makes me kind of hate Benson.  I don't enjoy it at all.

Olivia was overstepping it all over the place this episode, not just with Rollins, but with Carisi, Barba, and even the president of Hudson University. I was glad that Peter Gallagher's character basically told her to chill, even though Dodds came off more as villain. The frostiness between Rollins and Benson goes both ways, however. There was just enough edge in the way Amanda called Olivia Sergeant, and she seemed really exasperated when Olivia called her out on not finding Evie's porn videos earlier. If the show is setting it up to take Benson down a few pegs, I'd say she needs it, but I really don't think that is where it is going. I think the show has put Benson on a pedestal and she can do no wrong, while Amanda is always portrayed as kind of a mess. It's unfortunate, because there aren't that many positive depictions of female working relationships on television currently.

I've thought way too much about this show today.

Rollins is responsible for the tension between her and Olivia, in my opinion, but I think it's time Olivia put an end to it. She is the boss and the more experienced of the two so she should be the bigger person here. Amanda royally screwed up last season...she was irresponsible, unreliable, untrustworthy and in one instance, outrightly rude towards Olivia. She put Olivia in a bad position last year when she was spiraling out of control with her gambling addiction and wasn't showing up to work and lying about it. Then of course there was all the shit she caused when she got involved in the illegal gambling ring. She lied to Olivia who was her acting commanding officer at the time and her actions forced Olivia to lie to Fin and Amaro, which she was pissed about. After that Olivia said she didn't trust Amanda and I think that's what's still carrying over, but I think Rollins has been proving herself to be reliable again and it's time Olivia gives in a little bit. I'm hoping this thing between them reaches a boiling point soon so they're forced to address and hopefully resolve it, because the underlying hostility between them is getting old and seeing that most people cant even recall the cause, it might be time to put an end to it.

Seriously! I said "PUT THAT DOWN ASSHOLE" out loud. Why are they making him such a colossal ass? He might as well have snagged Carisi's mustache so he could twirl it during his scenes.

What was up with the secret cabal amongst Hudson, the mayor and the NYPD? Is there some nefarious plot afoot to shut down SVU?

I believe the mayor and the NYPD brass will be exposed as being possessed by demons from hell.  They want to shut down SVU to stop them from possibly finding the portal to hell that is seemingly somewhere in the Hudson University campus.  This portal allows the souls of murderers and rapists to come back to earth to possess others, leading to the ridiculously high violent and sexual crime rate at Hudson.  Now as to why people still got o this school, that I cannot explain.

I hate Peter Gallagher's character, and I don't love to hate I just hate. He is a one note knuckle dragger with no signs of humanity. Get him off the show please!

I hate the character, and Peter Gallagher's eyebrows aren't up to their previous state of glory.  WTF?  What is Gallagher without the megabrows?   I am disappointed in the bad writing, one-note character and normal looking brows whenever he is on screen.

I HATE Peter Gallagher's character! He is so useless and annoying. He pops in at the most random times. The squad just got a case and he comes in seconds later bitching about how they haven't done anything yet. I hope they get rid of him soon. I would like to have more Carisi and Less of Gallagher's character. The guy who plays Carisi is seriously gorgeous.

I'm loving Peter Gallager's character, if for no other reason than he's a giant dick to Olivia. I mean, come on! Olivia has been allowed to run around SVU like its some sovereign nation where normal legal procedure doesn't apply for years! She's a walking lawsuit and I'm so happy to have someone come in and not give even a half of a tiny fuck about whatever drama Saint Benson has made up in her head today. Using the implied weight of the NYPD to try to bully Hundson University into changing their policies is so very out of line. I wouldn't have been half as polite as the Dean was about that little maneuver(I'm with everybody who said the stripper had my sympathy until we found out she used her student ID in a porno. And sucky as it was at that time the rapist had not been convicted of anything so expelling him might be a tough call)! Benson does need to grow the fuck up. You don't use your position as a Sargent to intimidate people over civil matters and expect that no one at 1PP might have an issue with it. God I hate Benson. Ok, rant over.

I really do not understand the legalities of this episode. The defense argument is that since the victim acted like she liked being raped in front of the camera, she must like that too in real life, an argument that the Judge seems to believe too. With that argument, IMO the authorities should have arrested Mads Mikkelsen for all the killings and mutilations that he did on TV.

The prosecutor could have argued that as an artistic portrayal, she worked with scripts and with full consent. He then should produce the scripts and consent documents from the production company(ies). Those are the kind of evidence that clearly the defense can not produce. But no, both sides just arguing about whether "no" means "no" in real life.

In another note, I agree that Benson can not stay commanding that long. She is a Sergeant. She can not command a unit, she deals with day-to-day operations. They need a white-shirter (Lieutenant and above) to command.

As well, what business does Benson have with the University and its code of conduct? It is clearly not a police matter and the University has the rights to have whatever code it sees fit.

I know.  Between this and that long ago Law and Order episode, who knew that NYC judges felt so free to offer lectures on morality as their reason to overturn a verdict.  And I can't even start with the ridiculous Hudson University expulsion.  That place is already the rape and murder capital of New York City.   I can't believe they would buy themselves what would likely be an avalanche of bad publicity by expelling the rape victim.

The fact that Hudson U has a code of ethics made me laugh.

Also what is the point of the deputy chief? I mean Manhattan SVU has 5 cops. I you assume the other boroughs have the same then it is a deputy chief in charge of 25 officers. NYPD has like 35,000 officers so how does that work?
