  1. I'm a little concerned about the direction of the show. It seems to be lacking an energy that was present the past few seasons. I am more concerned about the direction of Carisi- what happened to the foundation of empathy and compassion that was central to his character the past few seasons? And I miss the Barba snark, although I like that he has been featured more in the episodes. I know the show needs to be serious due to the subject matter, but it seems so dreary and glum these past two episodes. And there seems to be approximately 8,000 Mariska reaction shots- we get it- Olivia's concerned. Hoping for something a little better next week. P.S. Kelli Williams was a fantastic guest star, and I want to see Henry Thomas in more things.
  2. As someone who spent nearly three years without front teeth and was the one with the most sense in her group of friends (and also pretty awesome at being a moment killer), I can relate deeply to the character of Dustin.
  3. No one thinks that Barba wrote his actual home address on that piece of paper, do we? I would KILL for scene where the thug looks at the paper and says, Lennie Briscoe style, "Wait. This address is in the Hudson River." I'm really nervous that the promo gave too much away, but that there is going to be a real kicker that they didn't show. Why did we not get a scene with Barba and Carisi discussing the bar results? COME ON!!!
  4. I really don't have anything to say about the episode- it was a bit of a snoozefest, BUT, based on the promo, if anything bad happens to my sweet and sassy Barba, there will be issues between you and me, show. *** Unless NBC announces the next day they are giving Raul Esparza his own show.
  5. I liked Barba's Vonnegut reference and how Griffin Dunne and Fisher Stevens seemed like real brothers, but overall this episode had more disappointment than anything 1. Richard Belzer was wasted. Three scenes? And one of them was babysitting Noah? I know the "Bye, Munch" was adorable, but give the man more to do! 2. Why was there not a scene with Barba and Benson hashing things out? They were not even speaking to each other last time Barba was on. I know this is a procedural, but don't show all this character development in one episode and forget about the next, without any real consequences. I would have liked to see the two of them talk about the erosion of trust that occurred while she and Tucker were on leave. 3. As usual, Carisi is adorbs, but kind of vanished in the second half of the episode.
  6. I loved Barba's facial expressions and the emphasis on Carisi (Peter Scanavino is great) and the fact that everyone in the squad EXCEPT for Olivia worked so well as a team but there are a few things were just ridiculous. - the priest who turned out to be a hitman - the files buried in the churchyard (in hermetically sealed tubs, no less) - LANCE WOODSTONE! THE PIRATE BOOTY TREASURE CHEST! - why would Lance's girlfriend keep those photos on her phone? I cannot even. As a Catholic, I am well aware of the Church's history of corruption and secrecy and complicity in crimes against young innocent children, but this was a bridge too far.The Bishop running a sex trafficking ring? I truly believe they only got him involved so they could use the "Pawn for a Bishop" line. Every one in the archdiocese was corrupt, with the exception of Sister Nina. Even the nuns booking tickets for priest hitmen under false names! Where was the nuance? It would have been a lot more interesting to have Fr. Eugene be genuinely conflicted about what his superiors were doing, but instead we get the S & M silliness and Tucker under investigation. I think I get frustrated by this show because they go for cheap thrills when they could have told a much more interesting story if they just let the plots organically evolve. There is one person that I am happy for in this episode- Lucy the nanny. She's obviously getting overtime so Olivia can go hang with her boo and day drink at bars. I'm out next week if anything happen to Carisi. I mean it, show.
  7. Yes. As I have said in the past, Barba is way too awesome for Olivia. But I felt for him in that scene. Whatever feelings are between them, he always has her back, and often goes out on a limb for her. He was right- she should have told him about Tucker. Other observations; - I am on Team CarisiGlasses. - Sometimes it is cute when an actor appears on L & O several times as several different characters, but I rolled my eyes when I saw BOTH Michael O'Keefe and Jonathan Cake in the credits. I think O'Keefe has been on every iteration at least twice (once playing TWINS, for goodness' sake) and he is always up to no good. Cake hasn't been on as much, but L & O is the only thing I ever have seen him on, and he was the scummiest lawyer ever on the original in one of its last seasons, so I am sure the Monsignor is involved. -The nun is weird and creepy. Why Olivia would leave Noah with him is beyond me. Especially when she has a nanny. -Fin! Come Back! We need you! - I think that Papa Dodds is involved somehow. I'm still not sure about Tucker. I wonder what their endgame is with him and Olivia. I do see the chemistry, but it is very inconsistent for both of the characters. I did giggle when Barba said to her, "Didn't he have you and both your partners arrested?" and Olivia was like, "That's all in the past!" (cue eyeroll) It was a good cliffhanger and I am excited for the next episode, since it is supposed to Carisi-centric.
  8. Connie/Lupo Forever! Love, Someone who can't let go a barely mentioned ship from a show that hasn't even been on the air in five years
  9. THIS. It just felt yucky to me. "Forget about the child pornography, suicide attempts and destroyed lives! Olivia's got a boyfriend! OOOOOOOOHHHHH!" Gross. I'm just glad it wasn't Barba: 1) I like their back-and-forth friendship and he wouldn't be able to give her grief when she does something stupid if they were romantically involved and 2) he's too good for her. I'm kinda bummed it's Tucker, mainly because I prefer him as a foil to the team, but I can see why they went there. I really liked a lot of this episode. I love when they go undercover, and I thought Jessica Phillips, the actress who played Pippa did a great job of showing the toll that something like this takes on a spouse. Not enough Fin or Carisi, and the Dodds stuff is always clunky, but all in all, a solid episode.
  10. Well, I watched both parts and it just struck me how humorless CPD is compared to SVU (and it's not like SVU is a barrel of laughs). I definitely thought the first part was more interesting and twisty and fun ("I have a baby and now I can't talk to serial killers anymore?", Carisi and his bacon issues, Barba's eyeroll, the news reports) and it wasn't bogged down in personal drama. However, the convoluted nonsense involving Cupcake Lasagna was just ridiculous. That lasagna had so much stuffed into it, I am surprised it didn't weigh 40 pounds, and I just don't believe that Barba wouldn't tell Benson the charges were dropped. Did Ice-T sign a contract that stated he couldn't have more than three lines in an episode? The dude's been sorely missed this season.
  11. The writers seem to be making a big deal of who Olivia was on the phone with like they did the time that she went on the plane with the mystery man (that turned out to be Cassidy, I think?) I still don't understand why anyone would want to be in a relationship with her, and now they're throwing a drinking problem into the mix? She should be walking around with a Danger! Do Not Enter! sign. Barba and Carisi arguing- awesome as always. I love when Barba goes apoplectic over witnesses. I hope Daveed Diggs is able to come back for more episodes- I like his energy.
  12. There was an SVU episode like that. It was from Season 5 and it was titled "Sick" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0629732/?ref_=ttep_ep19 Cindy Williams from "Laverne and Shirley" was in it and played the grandmother of one of the victims.
  13. I just want a show with Barba and Calhoun being the awesome lawyers that they are, snarking on each other and everyone in their general vicinity. I'd even include Buchanan, because I hate him, but I LOVE to hate him. They can take Carisi on as a junior partner once he finishes law school. Get on it, Dick Wolf! I did like this episode better than last week's disaster.
  14. I'm not a regular viewer, but I watched last night and it seems to me that the only character I DON"T care about is Alicia. She is so miserable and unlikable.
