Didn't see the show today.  But I can't help being intrigued by the "touching" conversation.  I've never touched anyone's anything.  Never felt the slightest desire to.  Even when I have been invited to, after complimenting.  It crosses a line.  But what I will do is continue to snark, not about anyone's unique features by virtue of their race, color, creed, ethnicity, or anyone's physical looks, but about their style.  For me, no one in showbiz is immune (unless they are under 18).  If I think someone's hair style (not their hair) is unflattering, I will say so.  If I think someone's makeup (not their facial features) is wrong for them, I will say so.  If I can't stand what someone is wearing, I will say so.  You put yourself out there for purposes of fame and wealth, you are going to be critiqued.  I won't walk on eggshells afraid to criticize style.

I'll admit I had the same exact same thought as RO  about checking his hard drive when I saw that video clip and watched Grisham say those things.  What a strange thing for Grisham to say and like RO, I don't believe a person can "accidentally" land on child porn while surfing the internet, much less be convicted and sentenced to prison for it.   Accidentally hit a link to some porn?  Sure, but not child porn. I'm with Morbs in wondering if Grisham was drunk in that clip; he kind of seemed like it to me.

Cementhead, we must find out about the hairspray!   And while I've never asked a stranger if I could touch their hair, I might be tempted if I ever met Nicolle, lol!

I don't think he was drunk.... I read his comment in the article and a friend of his spent time in jail for child porn..... and he was defending his friend....... although 'Im not sure why someone would stay friends with someone convicted on charges of child porn..... one reason I agreed with Rosie O comments.

He said his friend was drunk when he clicked on an "I'm 16" sting site.... I don't buy the accident excuse

I think the quieter gentler Rosie O might relate from two things--first she's in a good place in her own life with a new wife and baby, but more, I think Rosie went through something that probably had a big impact on her--which is the failure of her show on OWN.

She started out doing her old style of stand up/game playing/guests and let Oprah's people build something that was pretty awful, and Rosie herself was not good in it. She finally found herself and totally revamped it right at the end, but it was too late. That final version of her show was an hour long one on one interview and it was very quiet and deep--very different from her original talk show style--and she was fantastic at it--those hour long pieces were just wonderful--and I see some of that in the interviews they've had her do on The View. The failure of her OWN show was more Oprah's than Rosie's failure--taking the show to Chicago--where she could not get timely guests all the time, and the time slot--really were just wrong, but I think that experience may have shaped some of the quieter persona we see on The View. I like it.

Maybe, but in truth Rosie's recent career is no stranger to trying new things that didn't work or in fact failed miserably. She tried her hand at a Broadway musical and dumped $10 million of her own money in to produce Taboo which lost money and folded after a couple of months. Then after the View she attempted to revive the variety show with her Rosie Live show on NBC. Had it been successful it was supposed to go to series, but it failed spectacularly. And then she gave Oprah's fledgling network a try, and, well, that didn't work out either.

I admire the fact that she keeps trying new things (or new versions of old things), but I'm just not sure that the OWN show would have any more impact than any of her other projects. I suspect the events in her personal life have been far more impactful and that she's in a very different place in her life now and has different priorities. I also suspect that she just wants this View experience to be different and better than her last go around, and that she's trying very hard to be part of a good show without becoming a lightning rod again. Time will tell, but I'm beginning to suspect that people expecting the old Rosie may be disappointed. We'll see. She said something the other day on her Ask Ro site about starting a YouTube channel so maybe we'll see a little more of 'Rosie unplugged' there.

His friend didn't accidentally click on anything. JG's statements was crazy and not thought through.

His friend was a lawyer out of Mississippi. He sent 13 photos of underage girls some as young as 12 being sexually exploited to an undercover FBI agent.

I can't find the article now.

RosieO IMO was right, look at his hard drive. The idea that looking at children in porn is just something someone stumbles on, is insane.

Michael Holleman is the name of JG's friend. He was arrested in 1997. He did not spend 10 years in prison as JG described, of "these poor white 60 yr old men that accidentally click on child porn". He spent, I believe 15 months and was disbarred.

I totally disagree that anyone can do math as long as they try. If one were to follow that logic, then everyone should be able to do great art, as long as they try. Research has shown that different parts of the brain control how one excels at one thing, but not another. My sister was called a human computer in middle school, but she can't draw a straight line, no matter how hard she tries. On the other hand, I can draw and paint, but can't add 2+2. In school, no matter how I worked my butt off, algebra just didn't make sense in my brain---to me, it looked like Swahili. But, when I took geometry, a math based on logic such as proving theorems, and not pure numbers, I did well.

As a moderate republican, I wish they would focus more on people like us rather than the radical right. But, everyone has to admit, there are radical liberals too, and those, both D's and R's who won't vote for the other party based solely on that little letter rather than on real issues. Heck, I voted for Clinton because I felt he was the best choice, and not because he was a democrat.

I'm a liberal dem and I agree of course there radicals on both sides.

I think the media focus of radical Republicans has to do with Fox News. They put the most outrages hosts, stories out front and run with lies. It seems Bill O'Reilly writes a book every month, as does Ann Coulter.

And nice level headed Republicans are not as exciting to people that have an agenda and call themselves Republicans these days.

When Nicole was talking about her fear of mimes and RosieP gave her a very dry "that's weird" I laughed so hard.

This is why I'm liking the show it's fun but, not a "silly look how cool hip young we are".

This is mere opinion, but for some reason I think Rosie has attended mime classes and appreciates the art form.  Her feeble (humorous?) attempts at miming make me think that in her quest to be involved in showbiz in any way, she took every type of acting/performing class available.  I think she may have been most successful in the Ed Norton School of Loud Comedic Performance (just a pathetic joke on my part).

I just think that's a very immature way of looking at things on Rosie O's part. Just because someone says something you disagree with or that is unpopular, doesn't mean they are talking about themselves and to me her "check his harddrive" comment is borderline mob mentality. That's no different than assuming anyone who defends abortion must have aborted a fetus themselves. Or that someone who defends a woman's right to be promiscuous or have birth control without being judged is promiscous themselves. Or that somebody who thinks statutory rape is not on the same level as real rape (in Whoopi's case) means the speaker must have raped someone in their past. I can't help wondering if Rosie O is a member of One Million Moms.

I had actually read the article about what he said before they talked about it on The View--I already knew Grisham's friend had done more than looked at child porn, but actually shared/distributed it, so nothing Grisham said defends his friend, imo. I'm not sure if they spoke about this part of the interview on The View, but Grisham seemed like he was really talking about how looking at something online shouldn't result in the same or higher degree of sentencing as actually doing something should. I know next to nothing about John Grisham, but I technically do agree with that.

I second your motion, GreenKnight.   This is America where we are allowed to voice our opinions--where we SHOULD voice our opinions.  No one should worry about having their property searched because they used a bit of free speech.   I felt the "check his hard drive" comment was more irresponsible than Grisham's comments.

Maybe it is immature. I guess, I just have an issue when someone minimizes vile behaviour. And that is what JG did. He knew his friend didn't mistakenly click child porn, he knew his friend actively participated in disrupting disgusting images of children.

JG can use free speech to make excuses and minimize this horrible behavior, and some might question why he is willing to do this. And I do.

I also don't think people should be punished because they say things others don't agree with.

Rosie I'm sure was worked up and I agreed with her. I think I was just shocked that knowing the real details he was still defending his friend.

I have no problem with Rosie's statement because there is no teeth behind it.... she is not in charge... she can not "check his hard drive" or have anyone else check it..... Now if a DA or cop were to say we are going to check his hard drive because of his opinion... that would be quite wrong.... but Grisham has the right to share his opinion and Rosie has the right to disagree with it

In my opinion viewing those photos on line encourages more photos to be taken and more children abused..... viewers should have harsh punishments but actual abuses should be punished more severely

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Rosie O because of that, and I can understand why that topic is very sensitive for most people since it's a disgusting subject to think about, but I do think that's a questionable way to respond even if said in a half-joking sort of way. Everyone says things we don't like or agree with now and again though. Even Joy Behar had her fatshaming which made me cringe.

P.s. cement head, don't feel bad....you too would look great if a professional was doing your hair daily! Nicole seems approachable...might be worth emailing or tweeting her to ask about hairspray.

Thank you CathInAZ.  I shall try to remember that while I am watching her with great hair envy :)

Cementhead, we must find out about the hairspray!   And while I've never asked a stranger if I could touch their hair, I might be tempted if I ever met Nicolle, lol!

LOL, Cosmocrush.  Can one of our fellow board members who tweets please take one for the team (a small team of two being Cosmo & me) and ask Nicolle about her hairspray situation?
