S03.E07: Declaration of Love

Can’t believe Wihan wrote a long handwritten letter to Adair.  He has feelings?

Then he demands that Alesia make a cheese or charcuterie board for him so he can have a date with Adair, who was right to say no.

But  her trolling him about going through half the crew has to be producer driven.

Marina didn’t seem surprised about the letter nor Adair so maybe this letter is also a contrivance.

Lara is right that Wihan is not on top of his job.  Clearly though they expect him to have this hookup and secret feelings drama on the show, even Lara herself is interested in the gossip.

But the way she goes after him about Wihan as bosun seems performative.

Then they make a big deal about him underestimating that fake bike ride — done purely for the photo ops, not because guests wanted to do a bike ride in hot, humid weather — because the food is melting.

Who thought having a picnic in hot humid weather was a good idea?  Probably the producers did so that the crew works hard to set it up and when things go wrong, cast can talk about how bad it was and blame someone.

Alesia is officially my favorite crew member ever. First she refuses to kiss Johnny on her first night out, then she laughs in Wihan's face and tells him to make his own damn cheese board. 👏

It's not even as though a guest asked for cheese, it's something he wants as a personal favor so he can ask another crew member on a date. Then he gets all huffy and says she lacks respect! What colossal gall. He's not her boss, Tzarina is. Hey, Wihan, if you feel you've been wronged, why not go to Captain Jason and tell him Alesia refused to make a cheese board for you and explain what you wanted it for? Let's see how he reacts to that.

And then that letter. OMG, What is he, 12? That's like something you would do in 6th grade.

Funny that Adair isn't interested at all.  Wihan is such a jerk.  Can't find the right word for that letter.  Pitiful? Pathetic? Creepy? Desperate?  Or just yuck.  Get a grip over the stupid hot pants, gay club stripper boy.

Wihan is right about one thing though, Lara, you're also doing nothing while watching me do nothing.  She's no prize either.

Adair just seems confused.

Tsarina is just horny.

Resist Johnny!

Sorry Marina, that's the price you pay for being good at a crappy job.

What do you want Bri?  A husband?  Or is she just horny too.

Tortoises were way cool, but that picnic was awful.

Captain tasks Wihan with planning the excursion yet he decides he's too tired to go & stays back on the boat?  They're in the middle of a charter & he's seemingly oblivious as to what his role actually is. Worse he tried to make Alesia stop with meal prep to make him a cheeseboard.

There's no way this guy's been a bosun ever. Gee, look at this https://www.linkedin.com/in/wihandutoit/?originalSubdomain=mc

Alesia did a nice job declining his cheese request. His attitude after she told him no was something else too.

100% on Lara's side that his lack of urgency/work ethic is directly impacting the guests. I mean, just look at the effort he put into the excursion.

To be fair, an actual bosun's job is probably nothing like what is expected of one on this show. I doubt they ever plan off-charter excursions, for example. And they certainly don't do strip tease acts for guests.

That said, Wihan's work ethic seems terrible anyway. Hookups are seemingly encouraged on this show if not required, so it's maybe not his fault he's prioritizing his love life over his job. But when he's doing his job he's just barely doing it, and doing it wrong, like with the broken jet ski and not having any kind of schedule for the deck crew and sending them on breaks when they're needed.

At the beginning of the season, I thought Johnny would be the douche. Boy was I wrong!

Johnny, so far, is surpassing my low expectations.

Wihan gets worse and worse every episode. His work ethic is nonexistent. The way he's treating the women on board. His arrogance at expecting the sous chef to stop everything and make a cheese board. Making no effort to plan the excursion (although I'm not sure why is was just assigned to him. Jason should have made that a team effort--Wihan, Tzarina and Lara--all 3 of them had key components).

I'm not onboard with the constant objectification of the male deck crew members. Last week was really creepy (to me). Harry seems to enjoy it, but it doesn't have to happen EVERYTIME an all female group shows up. When are the stews going to serve a meal dressed in an equivalent way? We're not, nor should it happen.

Maybe it's why I appreciate Harry's approach to Bri. It's an old fashioned wooing. On the Below Deck shows, this doesn't really happen. And dare I say, refreshing. It's nice to see a young man actually building a relationship with someone, rather than a drunken hook up (Not saying there's anything wrong with a drunken hook up...I've had some myself...). Harry should verbally tell her how much he likes and respects her so she understands, he really IS interested on her. All that said, from the previews, he is picking up his pace.

So when stuff was melting on the beach and flies were landing everywhere, was I the only one wondering why they didn't put them back in the coolers?

I think Harry sees it as innocent fun ... he seems to me an innocent-fun guy all the time.  I hope Life doesn't take advantage of sweet Harry.

And I thought why don't they have those fly fans you can buy on Amazon?

Production loves to eff with the crew when they do their beach picnics, it is always like a challenge from Survivor, nobody leaves unscathed or with the immunity idol!

Wihan is awful and getting awfuller.

Or the net covers where you pull the string to make them into a dome shape. They take up virtually no space & are so easy to put up & put away.

Why on earth wouldn't they have those dome covers to put over the dishes?  All I could think of is that the charter guests are expected to arrive from their ride and eat food that has had flies all over it?  Yuck.

Loved the tortoise habitat.  Would much rather have seen more of that than the drawn-out scenes of Wihan penning his love letter (cringe).  Obviously, he forgot to include "Will you go with me?" at the bottom, along with a check box for yes, one for no, and one for maybe.   I can't believe Adair isn't all over this gem.

I am impressed with Johnny.  Besides being physically my type, he was very respectful towards Alesia and didn't turn into an ass because she rejected him (and, in fact, apologized to her the next day) and when setting up the beach picnic with Bri, he told her to take the lighter stuff and he would take the heavier stuff.

I agree about Harry.  I find him adorkable.  I get that it probably feels like this crew has known each other longer than - what - two weeks, three tops?  since they work together, live together and go out together but they really haven't known each other long so I have zero problems with Harry wanting to move slowly with Bri.  She should definitely appreciate that he's not like Wihan and looking for a hit and run hookup.  I hope Harry doesn't feel like he has to be someone he's not in order to keep Bri interested - although he should definitely tell her he likes her and wants to move slowly out of respect.

So, he is a recruiter, and he approaches clients in the yacht industry according to his LinkedIn. He just wanted to be on tv, I guess. He has degrees in accounting and finance, but also a captain's license.

Yes, Wihan gets worse with each episode. I think he is arrogant because he has the formal education (he has accounting and finance degrees), and he has a captain's license, but he wanted to be on tv, so he thinks he is better than the rest of the crew. He doesn't want to do a bosun's job, so he appears lazy (because he is). I don't find him attractive.

Alesia is cute, and it seems she is in good terms with Tzarina- she doesn't try to antagonize her like Anthony did.

I caught up on the two recent episodes.
Tzarina  is a horny thing. It’s very unbecoming and gross. She seems desperate. Be a chef and quit worrying about that idiot Wihan.
Wihan is not Adairs type. He should stop embarrassing himself. Plus he had two horny toads fawning all over him.
The strip teases are disgusting. I can’t imagine a guest wanting one of those morons grinding on them. Gross! Even Jason posing in that robe was disturbing. Put your damn clothes on!
The new sous chef seems much easier to work with than that dickhead Anthony. Tzarina needs an easy person since she lacks confidence.

Wihan needs to tell Lara to stay in her lane and worry about the interior. He should forbid his crew from helping her until she loses the attitude.
Newbie didn’t need to make him a cheese plate (how stupid) but he should pay her back by letting them carry all the provisions in.
I think Lara keeps Bri with her because she likes her better but also because she’s better looking. That’s really why the ugly one has to scrub toilets. Lara probably doesn’t think much of her either for chasing Wihan.
What does Bri want from Harry? She should be happy he’s taking it slow. These horny ladies are off putting.

Onloading provisions, managing excursions, setting up dinner on the deck and yes, even washing dishes are all part of the deck crew job description. They're not just there to dock & clean the boat.

Lara has every right to complain to & about Wihan. He's not pulling his weight and it's affecting guest satisfaction/their tip money.

Other than the stupid letter writing, he does seem to be working. Lara seems to be up his ass because she is a negative unhappy person. But Wihan does need to speak up and tell her to shut that giant mouth of hers and worry about the toilets and the table cloths and not what he is doing. He needs to shut her up before she goes running to Jason like a big babied asshole.

Marine. She’s not really ugly, that may have been a bit harsh. Compared to Bri though, she is a bit fug. Not terrible just a little.

I think Marina is very good looking & would put Bri in a category of her own only because sometimes she looks great & yet some other times she can look extremely rough which may just be the climate. Each to their own as they say but having dated a couple of models, they can be very ugly on the inside, although Bri doesn't seem that way at all.

Bri is really working though which may be why you think she looks rough. All Mariny does is complain about Adair not doing enough to help her. The idiot even got out of work when Wihan foolishly offered her the chance to go on a dive. She is lazy and gross chasing after Wihan like a horny toad.

Tzarina does appear desperate by chasing after Wihan after he rejected her.

And since we are discussing desperate, Wihan is too by writing letters to Adair who is not interested. He likes her for this reason, like others mentioned.

Or she believes that to continue being cast on the show, including the seasons following this one, she has to get involved in the hookup drama, including dressing up and drinking and possibly hooking up on those crew nights out.

If she decided to be "boring" by just doing her job, which is cooking the meals, and just kept her head down to focus on the work, obviously it wouldn't be as entertaining compared to having conflicts with other cast members.

Hell unless she upped her "game"  her scenes would be cut and not even make it on air.

Adair was somewhat feisty on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live a few days ago. She seemed to still not like Wihan.

I get that she doesn’t want to be boring but a chef running around the ship acting like a horn dog and forcing a kiss on the bosun is gross. She should have asserted herself when that Anthony was being a disrespectful douche to her. She should have been cussing that brat up and down.

Apparently she's worse than "ugly," it was later clarified to comparatively "a bit FUG."  Per Urban Dictionary:  An acronym for Fat Ugly Girl.

I don't like her personality or antics, but her looks are more than okay.

Here's a photo of poor Marina   image.png.3db449fda79f03814f1fd25d4ff2fcdc.png

I had no idea that fug meant fat and ugly. I always thought it meant freaking ugly. I don’t think the girl is fat at all, and not actually ugly. Just not as nice looking as the others, except Tzarina.

I wanted to like Marina at first because she seemed focussed on her job and sending money home was her priority. Now she's horny for Wuhan. She's sick of housekeeping, she seems distracted by everything. She's becoming starstruck.

No all the females are expected to pretend to be interested in some male cast.

It's possible they are genuinely attracted but they're being filmed most of the day and they're expected to dress up when they go out and flirt at least.

But it's also possible that they're not interested or that they're interested in someone else, either back home or maybe  near the port where they're working.

Getting more skeptical that every young cast member who isn't married is on the prowl, in front of the cameras.

Hmmm....Is "freaking ugly" less offensive?  LESS HURTFUL? There's plenty to say about Marina's work ethic and treatment of others...

Like I said, she’s not an uggo in the traditional sense.  I just think Lara keeps her in housekeeping because she feels that Bri is more attractive and similar to her.  Ugly was the wrong word to use.
