MediaZone4K Friday at 03:06 AM Share Friday at 03:06 AM Finally got a chance to watch this show, with SVU off this week. It's great fun. And decent cliffhanger at the end, that sets it up for a two-part episode about sharks! I wonder if that cruise ship episode of 9-1-1 inspired them to make that into a whole show. Chippings Friday at 06:13 AM Share Friday at 06:13 AM They sure know how to cram a towering heap of emergencies into one hour of TV. They did that in earlier episodes, but this was really excessive. My take-away was that it's just too darn much and I cease to care. (As we say, your view may vary.) 🤷♂️ 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8600389

Raja Friday at 04:46 PM Share Friday at 04:46 PM (edited) I should have remembered the Odyssey's crew had the best private beach resorts in Mexico. Then using an early COVID treatment on Spenser brings back the speculation that this is all another Tommy Westphall dream show. Rammed by a great white shark running from an orca. Even with the warmer water talk I was expecting that Odyssey hit an iceberg. iMonrey Friday at 04:49 PM Share Friday at 04:49 PM WTF. Did they get a different show runner during the hiatus? They turned it into Greys Anatomy on a boat. I think I preferred it when it was just dumb and wacky. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8600688

I wasn't clear on whether they were maybe between cruises but it wouldn't make much sense for them to be so far out to sea without passengers. Up 'til now the episodes have revolved around passengers and wacky themes so, like I said, it seemed as though someone stepped in and decided the show needed to be more Grey's Anatomy and less Love Boat. Rosie had more to do this episode than ever before - I don't think I even knew her name before this, usually she has one or two lines if she shows up at all. And I didn't remember Spencer at all. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8601030

He was the First Officer on the bridge who was hesitant to turn Odyssey off course to try to rescue that boat with the surviving deck hand. The first officer on the spectrum might be a replacement if Spencer survives part 2 needing rehabilitation. But then I had thought the rescued woman might join before they had the chef stay. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8601040

Or maybe a 3D computer printer. I'm a bit curious as to why the amputated foot was in the flower room. One wonders what it would be like if a guest walked in looking for flowers for his date. Now, I would think that if a shark hit the propeller, besides becoming sushi for the orcas, the first thing Rosie would do is disconnect the driveline system between the propeller and the generators. That way they wouldn't burn up and start the fire. So, the cruise operator, who admits to being a trauma surgeon "in a past life", starts ordering everyone around as soon as she's on board. Because anyone can go into an OR and say what they want to and everyone believes them. It's her patient? I don't think so. And then there was the "You don't speak to my first officer that way." Personally, I wouldn't care what his condition was; he can take a seat and wait. But I understand. It's all to develop the three way drama between Max, Avery, and Brooke. Rosie has the guns to be able to hold up an electric bandsaw. Those weigh a few pounds. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8601452

They mentioned this when a guest died several episodes back (and they acted like they were in a Cheech and Chong skit wearing sunglasses while pushing with the body down the hall in a laundry cart). The flower fridge is cold enough to store bodies (and parts of bodies) until they reach land. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8601612

CarpeFelis Saturday at 09:09 PM Share Saturday at 09:09 PM (edited) Avery really irritated me in this episode. First she tells Max to leave her alone and that he wouldn’t be her choice for a co-parent (I can’t recall whether she actually said this in so many words or just heavily implied it). Then she gets all jealous over the other doctor—okay, she’s human, that’s understandable. But what ticked me off was how she lit into Max over it. It came across as “I don’t want you but don’t you dare even look at anyone else.” 3 hours ago, Dowel Jones said: You would think that a cruise ship with that kind of operating room equipment would have cold storage included. I was thinking the same thing. Or why don’t they use one of the cryopods from the plastic surgery week episode? I don’t recall those ever showing up again. AnimeMania 5 hours ago Author Share 5 hours ago I finally watched this, I don't like 2-parters, so it was always on the back burner. Boy do they know how to heap on the medical problems, but I was enjoying it. If somebody gives you a heads up that the lights might go out, why didn't they just grab a few of the lights you strap onto your head, I am sure I have seen those in medical dramas and I am sure that doctors use them even when they have plenty of light. I couldn't tell when they should be wearing medical gowns vs their uniforms, but it seemed like it was off. I thought I saw lady doc operating in scuba gear. No wonder the infections were through the roof. I was also wondering where all the passengers were. They were just partying on a island, I don't understand why they were so far (hours) away from civilization. Was that a deserted island? Did they bring all that stuff from the ship? Was everybody there crew members or were there passengers mixed in? Kamikaze sharks who would have thunk it. The ship has only one propeller? 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8602402

We have seen it before - sometimes there are passengers there and other times it seems to be a staff retreat of sorts. I was bored. I had pretty low expectations but still... yawn... 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152241-s01e09-shark-attack/#findComment-8602496
