I don't fault Mahdi for realizing that he has to live without his family and friends and everything he knows and having a hard time with it, even though he is happy to be with Stevi. I hope she can muster up enough kindness to be there for him instead of whining. But she won't.

I worked in a seven person office and we sang the BEST happy birthday songs. We had a wonderful baritone, three strong altos, and everyone had a good ear. We could do three part harmony on the final line. It was lovely!

Once upon a time I worked at the Park Plaza hotel in Boston, and our bosses always tried to make us sing happy birthday to customers, and I always ran for the hills. I hate that stupid song, no one ever sings it well, everyone just shrieks it at the top of their lungs, out of tune and in five different keys. Its my nightmare.

They could also discuss moving to another country for a bit to see if his family can visit or even immigrate there since he misses them and loves them. I think Avery did something similar with Omar but I don’t think Stevi will ever want to live somewhere else, even temporarily.

He sees opportunity via TLC. I suspect he grew up bilingual in the states, with grandparents and other family overseas.
