I always thought that Sister Avila was one of Tula's dead ancestors she sees from taking the Sisterhood drug. I got so confused when I saw her bringing Tula some tea.

Excellent episode! I was completely stunned by Tula taking out all these Atreides males in this superb and deeply disturbing sequence.

I am nervous how this limited series is going to wrap up the plot in a satisfactory manner in just 3 more episodes.

Man, those Harkonnens know how to carry a grudge.

I don't know this fantasy world, but in an ancient society where one couldn't couldn't get justice otherwise, revenge made sense: if you kill my family member, I will kill yours.

Tula of course killed many for her brother - and then made a mistake by saving one.

The characters were more interesting as young women in the past than they are in real time.

Word.

Big takeaway from episode 3:  Don't f*** with Tula.

I have to give it to the casting dept.  Young Tula and Valya are younger Olivia Williams and Emily Watson.

I rarely watch the aftershow segments, but with this show I definitely watch.  Besides getting context for what I just watched I got to hear lovely Emma Canning's Irish accent.

What if the storied Vorian Atreides didn't even kill Griffin and it was the Sisterhood?

The story of how Griffin died is in the “Sisterhood of Dune” novel.

It's a little distracting to see all these actors from varying fandoms in one episode.

I didn't even suspect that Tula was insincere with her boyfriend.  I was thinking she would end up pregnant and lose the baby, or she would be attacked by one of his family members.  It's ice cold what she did to the Atreides.

Valya's mother seemed to be right - she does seem to corrupt her siblings to follow some insane grudge.  Do we know if the basis of her hatred against the Atreides is correct?

So it seems the Sisterhood is relying on banned machine technology.  I wonder how Raquella agreed to that, since her husband was killed in the wars.

The difference between the Harkonnens here and the ones in the movies is a bit strange.  I guess they eventually evolve into pale, bald people?

The irony is that as a woman I would never stay as a lone woman with a man I don't know all that well and a whole group of his male relatives.  I had nasty visions of sacrifice and gang rape in my head. I didn't expect  her to be the predator to them.

Wow, one really must try hard to turn a groundbreaking sci-fi masterpiece (original Dune) that inspired dozens of imitations including Star Wars  into a cheap Games of Thrones rip off. Well done.

Yeah,  I believe that look is the result of the environment of Giedi Prime which has been their home-world for a long time before the movies take place.

But on the show, Valya, Tula, and their family grew up on Lankiveil.

I thought they all shaved their heads in honor of his birthday. Maybe white make up as well. To look like Feyd.

Still not sure. Maybe this episode should have been the first. Drag us into the story emotionally. The young betrothed was pretty childish bringing an AI toy to that occasion, hard to get too emotional about his death.

However, once Tula did what she did, Orry mostly, I would not trust her ever. She has already made ll the decisions leading up to betrayal. Easier after that.
