Does anyone know who the elderly man with the scarf who was seated next to Amy Carter is?  I am assuming one of his sons but thought he was too old.  Then googled and realized, no, his sons are in their 70s so not impossible.

I think it was Jeff Carter, the youngest of the 3 sons.  He's had health issues, diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years ago.

Via NYT:

Quote

In reading his father’s eulogy, Ted Mondale left out a line that was in the written text provided to The New York Times ahead of time. After talking about Carter’s generous approach to taking in Vietnamese refugees, the former vice president said in the text: “Compare this to how we are tragically dealing with the crisis of immigrants today.”

I was shocked to learn via Google that Jason Carter is 49 years old.  He looks like he's around 35.  Also, is Nate Bargatze related to the Carter family?  Because he and Jason Carter look very much alike.

A lot of GenXers and Millennials look younger than their age, I'm finding.  My friend's husband just turned 50 and I thought he was 40.  And a lot of guys are now into skincare.

Watching the funeral, there appears to be a lot of tension between Kamala Harris and the Bidens. Understandable. The body language is frosty.

I’m sure it was all tense because she had to be in the same room with Trump. Let’s not buy into the Twidiot conspiracy theory that Biden sabatoged her was glad that Trump won.

Trump was trying to stare Kamala down until Obama started talking to him. And already people are trying to spin it like he’s bending the knee to Trump. God I hate the internet.

When I saw the pic I thought they are going to say now Obama is supporting Trump.  The man who made it his mission to disqualify him and his presidency on a racist lie. Sure he is going to be buddies with him now.  As if.

Remember back when Chris Christie had the gall to talk to President Obama and accept federal help during Hurricane Sandy?  Republicans were outraged. How dare Christie get help from the enemy.  Wonder if any MAGA's will criticize Trump for daring to not spit in Obama's face.  Because you know that is what they would want to do.

The only thing placing Barack Obama next to Trump did was emphasize how unhealthy and bloated Donald is.

I noticed that as well.  He is not a good looking man at the best of times but he looked like he needed medical attention today.

He really needs to get some help.  But I think he needs a REAL health scare to actually do something.  If at all.  He isn't like Bill Clinton, who went (mostly) vegan after his surgery.

He does not have the discipline to do anything to help himself. He won't change  his diet. He won't walk on a treadmill.  When something happens and it almost certainly will it will most likely take him out.  I'm reminded of that movie Dave when the president becomes incapacitated by a stroke so they find a lookalike and he ends up being better than the real one.  One can only dream.

"On #ThisDayInHistory in 2021, thousands of peaceful grandmothers gathered in Washington, D.C., to take a self-guided, albeit unauthorized, tour of the U.S. Capitol building. Earlier that day, President Trump held a rally, where supporters walked to the Capitol to peacefully protest the certification of the 2020 election. During this time, some individuals entered the Capitol, took photos, and explored the building before leaving."

Yep and after finishing their meals, many passengers on the Titanic decided to enjoy the beautiful April evening by boating and swimming,"

It was creepy, the way he kept staring at her, when she was just sitting there, waiting for the funeral to start.

We have CBS on and just saw Jimmy Carter's grandson speak.  Very powerful.  Very moving.  I learned more about Mr. Carter and am even more profoundly grateful that this man lived and lived such a good life.

I listened to part of a very good Fresh Air interview with Carter yesterday.  He talked about what he did after being president.

What's even creepier is that the MAGA minions are going to latch onto this as some sort of indication as to how tough and strong their boy is; just another sign of his magnificent leadership.  Except not.

GOP senator says Obama aimed to ‘kiss the ring’ of Trump at Carter funeral

Liars gotta lie.  Naturally they focus on Trump at another man's funeral.  That's a given.  But then to lie about Obama.  Does anyone believe anything these fools say anymore?

And Obama won't respond because why would he? But if something like this was said about Trump he would be putting out a post on Truth Social in all caps saying something like I DID NOT KISS ANYONES RING. EVERYONE KNOWS I AM THE WINNINGEST WINNER OF ALL TIME AND PEOPLE KISS MY RING.

Ask James Woods how he would feel about that.

On second thought, don't bother.  He's blaming the libs for his house burning down.

This is what I find so ridiculous.  When something happens to a MAGA they automatically blame Obama, Dems, Liberals, Woke Culture, DEI for it.  Without any evidence of course.  But when a sane person suffers from something like COVID during the early days of the pandemic or the catastrophic effects of climate change that could have been prevented but for Republicans blocking or denying things that could have helped we are told we are crazy and just trying to cause division in this country.

How long before we  hear the old this is God's punishment for godless people or gay people or whatever they choose to think caused these fires?

I’ve been meaning to bring something up. Will the GOP be promoting abstinence over practical sexual education? I think the solution for teens is easy: carry a picture of Trump with them at all times. C’mon, you’re getting hot and heavy with your sweetie, you feel urges in your nethers, you don’t have protection because God never said you should . . . pull out the pic. Instant boner-breaker. The best thing is that ANY picture would do the trick.

The MAGAs on my FB feed are convinced that Jill Biden is in love with Trump.

Right. What would her reaction to this be? I’m thinking hysterical laughter, intense vomiting, or both at the same time.

@Lantern7  Speaking of sex ed, as someone who was a teenager in the 90s, the stories of getting scary diseases from intercourse was enough to make me NOT want to have sex until I was in my 20s!

Oh man 90s sex ed was straight up scared tactics.  Close ups of herpes, AIDS, people coming in and talking about getting pregnant, catching HIV.  Abstinence was highly preached even in my blue California town.  And what ho! Teen pregnancies increased!

In the seventies we had "health" classes. The boys would go with their gym teacher and the girls would go with theirs. I remember our gym teacher (a former Miss Washington) who told us not to use Tampax until after we were married or we'd get headaches. RME.

HAHAHAHAHA......my grandmother told me the same thing.  She lived with us and did some of the housework, so she'd snoop in the bathroom.  I COULD NOT have tampons in the house because of that.  And pads irritate my ladyparts.
