snarts October 6 Share October 6 Quote Capt. Glenn and his expert crew set sail on Parsifal III to the luxury party capital of the world, Ibiza. While Ibiza is known for its sunny day parties and crystal-clear coast, it’s stormy waters ahead for the crew as they navigate blossoming boatmances, competitive co-workers and tense personal dynamics. Airs 10.7.2024 They wrapped filming on this over a year ago and it say on ice likely due to the Gary allegations. Were they resolved and that's why it's now airing? Great article on the full situation https://collider.com/below-deck-sailing-yacht-season-5-gary-king/ I won't boycott because I'm unfortunately weak and I do like Captain Glenn & Daisy. Spoiler Rumor that former deckhand Chase replaces Gary mid-season. 1 3 4 Link to comment
aghst October 6 Share October 6 (edited) My DVR says title is "Ibiza, Baby!" Description: "Capt. Glenn Shepard and his crew set sail in a luxury sailing yacht to explore the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea." OK they failed geography, Ibiza is not in the Ionian Sea. But the dinner fiasco was mostly the chef's fault. Even after he asked her not to take specific orders, he did send her up to the guests to ask one of them if she preferred chicken instead of the steak (since she didn't eat beef or pork). Daisy's only mistake was maybe asking her that in front of the other guests, which started a chain reaction of special orders. But I'm not sure how she could have managed it otherwise. At any rate, Daisy did go over each order with the chef and, notably, put Post-Its on every guest's preference sheet with that order. She couldn't have made it clearer. It was the chef who didn't pay attention. That aside, the whole Daisy/Gary/Colin thing continues to baffle. Don't have any strong vibes about any of the new crew yet, although Emma seems awfully horny for Keith right out of the gate. And the fact that Davide is friends with Gary is possibly a warning sign. 4 Link to comment
Jst2Wld October 8 Share October 8 Was last night's episode a full hour? Or was it so boring to me that I ignored half of it? I'm guessing this season is going to be centered around who Gary is screwing, will Daisy hook up with him again and how many times will the chef get complaints about his food. 3 1 Link to comment
snarts October 8 Author Share October 8 Surprised they're still using the Parsifal & haven't upgraded in five seasons. Compared to the other Below Deck vessels, it looks a little ragged. Poor Glenn has to share a cabin and I hate that banquet table they have for dining. If the folks in the middle need to wee, the whole table has to get up. For awhile there both the main & Med boats seemed to upgrade boats each season. Also interesting that this is the only franchise where the engineer is included in the cast and three guys have to share one room. Not an exciting first episode. The chef might be 22 but he looks 40. None of the men are attractive. The horny stew is trying too hard when I'd rather hear more about the seized Russian yachts from the non "pick me" girl. Had to remind myself that this was filmed a year ago so Daisy's emotions were still high on the heels of the Colin breakup/reunion. From the previews, I sure hope Gary finally gets fired after crashing the tender. 7 2 Link to comment
maggiemae October 9 Share October 9 (edited) Already ready to stop watching this train wreck. Oh my - stuff flying all over the sailboat while sailing. Emotional Daisy and Gary. Ewww. Oblivious Glenn. Problems with the interior. Problems with the chef. Edited October 9 by maggiemae 6 Link to comment
SemiCharmedLife October 9 Share October 9 I used to watch the show for the camaraderie of Captain Glenn, Daisy, Gary and Colin. Now, Colin is gone (my fave), Gary's a creep, Daisy's a mess, and Captain Glenn only has rare moments while eating a giant rice crisp or listening to a whale podcast. I'm hoping the new crew will grow on us and give us some entertaining moments. 8 Link to comment

They would be insane to focus on who Gary is screwing after the allegations of sexual assault made against him. The very reason this season was delayed in airing. Even if they're hoping it's been largely forgotten by now, you wanna think they'd try to focus on anything else. 16 hours ago, snarts said: Surprised they're still using the Parsifal & haven't upgraded in five seasons. They did install an entirely new engine and new sails. It's the same boat, but it is upgraded/updated, as far as the mechanics go. 7 minutes ago, SemiCharmedLife said: I used to watch the show for the camaraderie of Captain Glenn, Daisy, Gary and Colin. psychoticstate October 10 Share October 10 The cheese may stand alone but I really cannot stand Daisy. I didn't understand what all her crying to Gary was over. She accuses Gary of trying to ruin her relationship with Colin but as I remember it, she didn't push him away too much. In fact, she encouraged and allowed him to motorboat her in front of Colin. And per the reunion, Colin asked Daisy to travel with him and she refused. So she blames Gary, she and Colin break up, she wanted to talk to Gary (or is it "talk") but was angry that Gary didn't reach out to her? Is he supposed to be a mind reader? If she wanted to talk/"talk" to Gary, why didn't she call him? Why is all this on him? And as he said, maybe he did want to decompress and not deal with all the drama. Because Daisy is EXTREMELY high maintenance as far as the emotional part of it goes. And don't think it didn't pain me to defend Gary in any way. So Danni is clearly the horny stew who is already attempting to jump Keith's bones after knowing him five minutes. Okay. Emma is older than the usual deckhand - yay - and good on her for doing what she wants to do. The chef is very young. I felt sorry for him with that first dinner. It was a set up to fail. That's a lot of orders and different food. Daisy really screwed up - and she's been doing this long enough to know how to handle that. You take that one guest aside and ask her privately and that's it. 8 Link to comment

I kept waiting for some kind of talking head from one of them to explain what the heck was happening. Also I think I never watched the reunion so I had no idea about anything other than she and Colin were no longer together. I actually think I was under the (clearly mistaken) impression that Colin had broken up with her because of the Gary thing during the season. Link to comment
aghst October 10 Share October 10 It looked like Glen was meeting all the new crew for the first time. The entrances are staged, they probably met each other at the port before each of them "arrived" one by one. Still, you can put a rest to this fiction that the captain has a say in staffing or should I say casting decisions. Of course there will be "will he/she be fired" drama. It's one of the staples for driving drama in the story lines every season. Glenn is probably the owner of the yacht. Guess Bravo isn't motivated to find another captain and yacht for the show. In fact if you think about it, there hasn't been much turnover in captains in the BD-verse. Glenn seems to like Gary and Daisy or at least can certainly fake it on camera. Gary does seem to be familiar enough with the operations of a yacht vs. just regular motorized yachts. Bravo probably brought Gary and Daisy back because they're risk-averse. Replacing either or both carries risk that there won't be as much drama. Remember, they replaced the cast from the first season when things were comparatively chill. If the Gary scandal blows up, they won't have a choice but apparently they shot this a year ago and since things didn't blow up, like a big lawsuit or prosecution -- I haven't paid attention so I don't know either way -- guess they want to tee this season up? Otherwise, looks like there will be the usual cast hook-up drama. Never been to Ibiza but the party reputation of the place probably won't make the crew dinners and clubbing any more dramatic than they usually are, since they only go to places which the producers have cleared for filming. Man I hope BDDU is next in about 3-4 months. But Jason may not have Aesha next season to help him with his grooming or whatever she did for him since she seems to live in Colorado now. But I'm not sure how she could have managed this better. All the guests were sitting together when the chef sent her up to find out if one of them preferred chicken. It would have been hella awkward for her to single her out and ask her for a private chat. The others would wonder what was going on and when that guest explained what it was about, it still could have caused a chain reaction of special requests. The only other option would have been for Daisy to just stake out that one guest and wait for an opportunity to catch her alone. And who knows how long that would have taken, if it happened at all. The chef should have simply made a decision to sub out the steak with either chicken or fish if he didn't want special requests. Period. 19 hours ago, aghst said: Glenn is probably the owner of the yacht. No Glenn doesn't own the yacht, he's been asked this many times. The owner's name is Kim Vibe-Petersen. Google tells me she (he?) is Danish. But - Glenn is indeed the legit captain of Parsifal III. Not just for the show. Unlike the other BD captains who only play captain for the show then go back home. 3 Link to comment

meep.meep October 18 Share October 18 That luxury yacht that sank off Sicily in August was a few feet bigger than Parsifall. The title of the episode (according to IMDB) is Ibiza, Baby! Glenn doesn't strike me as an Ibiza type, but what do we know? Link to comment
