Alyssa said...."highly educated people who support Trump often don't know some of biggest scandals or the worst things he' s done" .....

Sure, Jan. Name names, or examples of "highly educated people" that support him, cuz I don't see any credibility in that claim.

The people and family I know who are for Trump are intelligent but did not go to college feel that educated folks ( like myself) look down on them, and are elitist. They defend common sense and the school of hard knocks, even when I talk about the range of different forms of intelligence....emotional, street smarts,  innate, intuitive, artistic, musical, etc.

They're defensive because of their own issues,  and feel he is one of them... some guy sticking it to Big Government, ironically ignoring his wealthy background and long record of stiffing the working man/woman, and racking up loans from dictators who are vehemently against the American flag they proudly fly. They don't like change-- which means people of color getting ahead, trans acceptance, and LGBTQ being recognized, new forms of energy,  electric cars!!!! while complaining about gas prices, etc.,  and immigrants (even though my family is 2nd generation) esp immigrants of color they feel are cutting in line ahead of them for preference of  jobs, charity, housing, etc. Even though nothing was stopping then from accessing those same benefits except their own choices. They dismiss facts.

Sorry about the rant.  This morning a cousin of mine posted a long list of ways that the devil was taking over America cuz of stuff like above.

What a long strange trip is coming.

I think what I was trying to say that intelligence is not the problem.

it's attitude coupled with the community view that one lives in or is immersed in that determines political choices of some candidates.

I have a relative who is educated, has an MBA, and comes from family money who supports Trump. Nobody can talk to him about it because he has a temper(poor little rich boy), and we want to keep the peace. He probably just doesn't want to pay more taxes.

The Janet Jackson discussion is a perfect example of why Whoopi the moderator, does not want to moderate.

You could tell many on the panel were slightly hesitant to give their opinion or harshly criticize Janet as they would others in front of Whoopi. Whoopi then sort of suggested she apologized, and then said she's not political. Okay? She's a multi millionaire with enough time to read the do the most basic research.

Whoopi, if your personal friendships affect the way the show is allowed talking about them when they mess up or say something wrong, you should pick another job. We saw the same thing with her defense of Mel Gibson...fortunately Barbara could fight back.

and once again this is not new. she has had enough of these (to varying degrees, not equating Janet to the others) to have a full article written about it. https://www.thedailybeast.com/whoopi-goldbergs-long-history-of-appalling-takes-from-defending-mel-gibson-and-bill-cosby-to-the-holocaust

The wife's parents are exactly the same, they would give their last penny to Trump/the church if asked but wouldn't listen to their own daughter (my wife & a nurse of over 25 years) during covid because they thought Trump knew better. The father in law goes bright red in the face if you say a word about either of them or even try to discuss it with him, even the SC who he told me were "the experts & the last word on everything" until I agreed with him & tried talking about something they had thrown out & then they were " a bunch of idiots".

And did I hear Alyssa correctly when talking about the Janet Jackson issue when she said " I can't say a word against my girl Janet". Alyssa your bigotry is showing, is Janet the chosen token of the Repugs?  ( South Park reference).

I have this in my family.  My brother-in-law is educated, but only watches Newsmax or Fox.  His online media is the same.  If you tell him something that was not covered by those channels, he simply doesn't believe it.

Ana was on 🔥 with her comments on RFK and how the reporter he sexted is getting more blowback from the scandal than he is. Not that I feel sorry for her —putting her career and reputation on the line for THAT guy?! Really!? — but it really the same sexist bullshit.

The woman always pays the price for something like this.  WTF was Olivia Nuzzi thinking? And if Cheryl Hines stays with him WTF is she thinking?

I found their defense of Janet Jackson, especially Whoopi, pretty appalling. I couldn't help but wonder if someone they don't like said what she said, if their reaction would have been different. Of course it would! Also interesting that the person on her staff who said she apologized (when she obviously didn't) was fired.

Uzo Aduba was beautifully eloquent today. Such a class act of grace and talent.

Michael Eric Dyson was on fire!!! Why does he not have his own show??? Speaking truth to power (or hypocrites as the case may be).

I am going to get their books for sure.

You are right.  It is about hating the right people.

I cannot wait until this person is no longer a problem in this nation so maybe the negativity will die down.

I love Michael Eric Dyson! Man, he is a delight to listen to. I will be catching this ep.

“I’m 180 years old.” 😂😂😂😂

As much as I hated how everyone crapped all over him for his age, you’ve got to admire his sense of humor about it.

As much as he wanted to keep going he knew when it was time to go.  I wish someone else was that selfless.

First, regarding Monday's show and I haven't said this in quite some time, but it's deserved:

STFU, Whoopi. Has Janet Jackson been living under a rock these past four years? Thinking that Vice President Harris' father was White? Mmmmokay. So no, no Grace from me for her because Tito just died. He was alive 10 years ago, 8 years ago, 4 years ago.

Alyssa be doing what she does. Still don't like her.

I LOVED Dr. Dyson! His "White Supremacy through Ventriloquism" had me Rolling!

He was on FIYAH! with everything he was saying.

I also LOVED the interview with President Biden.

Shut UP, Alyssa. Of COURSE she asked about "pressure" from Pelosi, and if they now get along. She's used that on EVERY.FUCKING.BODY. Just Stop IT already.

But she won't.

Ugh, hot topics preempted for the NYC nonsense. 😡

For REALZIES. And then again in the middle of Wanda Sykes' segment!

But JEEBUS CRIPES. The few minutes we did get, Alyssa is just a broken record right now: "Talked to many voters, who hate...but liked what he did for them...life was better..." Blah, blah, blah, fishcakes.

I don’t remember seeing/ hearing that so am rewatching on demand. Was it the first of show or later? Does not surprise me in the least. I remember her defense of Michael Jackson saying yes she either left her daughter or would leave her with him at Neverland. Whoopi? Your daughter wasn’t his type

oh brother I was watching wrong day. I must have been out of room at the time

Ugh.  I know I "should" like him because I agree with most of his views, but Michael Eric Dyson gets on my nerves!!!  He sounds too rehearsed/practiced.  And regardless of what he says, I don't know why he was texting Nancy Mace.  I'm not saying he was hitting on her, but I found his texts problematic . . .

On  Instagram he mentioned that she left out the conversation that preceded the texts she shown.  The  host of the show, Abby suggested the photo and asked him to post it in the spirit of bipartisonship.    Nancy responded "Great Pic!"   which triggered the rest of the text chain.   In context it was less flirty than she tried to make it appear.   And in context of her behavior during Abby's show, it seemed to be playing or certain tropes on black men and white women.

I've listened to Michael Eric Dyson for probably 25+ years, and he always sounds like that.  He definitely has his flaws.   It may be rehearsed, but he's always been a skilled orator.

"The black brute seeks the innocent white woman."  He makes everything about race.  She never mentioned race when making objections about his comments.

You don’t have to specifically mention race to to trade in racist tropes.  As he mentioned on the show.   He never called her a racist, went out of his way to say he was not calling her racist.   Her response and how she did it could be perceived as a dog whistle.

Between Dyson and Nancy Mace I'm going to believe Dyson.  Mace plays to the camera and wants to appeal to some other politician's base.
