One of the most powerful moments on Intervention was when a grandmother, herself an addict who had gotten clean, looked her addict granddaughter dead in the eye and told her “you love your son but you’re not a good mother.”

I can work up a little empathy. I've spent a fair amount of time around the recovery community. Addiction sucks. No one chooses to be an addict. But yeah, she could have more insight and gratitude that her kids avoided foster care. I'd be more impressed if she were actually working a program instead of working a long con.
