Woman went home with $0 today because  she didn't know the first question. She not only had never heard of the expression "Tell it to the Marines" (she confidently chose "Mailman"); she exclaimed,"You're  kidding!" when told the correct answer.

I was so outraged (yes,I know) that I called my 69-year-old friend to tell her about this idiot contestant.

My friend had never heard of the expression, either.

😵  🤯

Anyone watching the current celebrity version? Or is there a different thread for it somewhere?  I enjoyed both John Mulaney/Nick Kroll and Keenan &Kel.

I watched. I enjoyed it...but...

OMG the Easter Island giant heads question, I was yelling D! (they also have bodies) at them as soon as it was revealed and they used three lifelines on it! They were way overthinking that one, especially once two options were removed.

I was also laughing when they played the clip of the first million winner because I was thinking about him when the episode started.

After the clip I was hoping he’d somehow make an appearance. And then he did!

Lisa Ann Walter is one smart cookie, between this and Celebrity Jeopardy. That was pretty impressive how she pulled out "Mozambique" from nowhere and got the answer to that question right.

I was yelling at the Osbournes on that last question, then I realized, oh, you're not Americans, right.  Not everyone in the world knows how many people are on the US Supreme Court, let alone how many of them are women.  Plus, math.  (And to be honest I was having trouble remembering whether there are 3 or 4 women.  But I did know that 3/9 would be .333, and that wasn't one of the options.)

Hey we got us a WWTBAM with the fabulous, the one-and-only,Jimmy Kimmel himself. I love 'em, and miss him so much i started watching Millionaire. Read below what i say about him in the JK thread: :)

Not everyone knows how many on the SCOTUS, but if you were a dual citizen you'd have had to have taken the US Citizenship test and then you would know. So they're probably not US citizens. And yes 3/9th is .33, but there are 4 members of the SCOTUS, and not 3 so you just divide 4 by 9 and get .44.

Right, I guess I wasn't clear.  That was my point.  I was having  trouble in the moment remembering if there are 3 or 4 women, but since .33 wasn't an option (and all the other options were lower fractions) I knew it had to be 4 women (and therefore the fraction that started with .4).

Also, a lot of times they try to rephrase the question in an attempt to make it shorter but end up stumbling over the words or making it more confusing for the friend (who can't see it on a screen) and it ends up taking as much or more time than just reading it as written would. (Though I kinda feel like the time should start after they read the question once. Some questions take longer to read than others so some have less time to actually process the question and try to come up with an answer.)

I had no idea who Dave Burd and GaTa are (I had to look up the TV listing to get the correct spelling of their names just now); don't think I've ever heard of either of them. I would not have recognized Kelly Osbourne if I hadn't heard them say her name.

With the options that were given as answers, they didn't even need to guess how many women there are. Anything less than 9 divided by 9 is that number repeated (ex., 1/9 = 0.1111, 2/9 = 0.2222, etc.). The only answer that had repeating digits was 0.44. As long as you know there are 9 justices (which unfortunately they didn't so they were screwed), it's just basic math.

So did I.

I also googled the largest Oktoberfest city, after jokingly saying Elizabethtown, PA, which is where I went to college, and which can by no means be called anything close to a "city"...because they do an alumni Oktoberfest thing at Homecoming every year.

I googled German triangle since I thought the answer was Green Bay. Map quickly showed GB would not have made a triangle. Now I have a reason to visit Cincinnati. Love the Scrubs stars. I thought it was hilarious that Zach couldn't name all of Don's kids. Those two could not sit still.

Ike and his dad were impressive. Ike backed up his Jeopordy win. But let's be honest, Jimmy won them the million. He is smarter than he looks. And has come a long way from The Man Show.

It takes a village! I’m so happy for their charity-it’s very personal to them and not one that had any attention…before now! It will make such a difference!

Kelly Osbourne doesn't look anything like her original self. And I know that they're British but they've lived in this country a very long time - they must never pay attention to the news.

Did anyone else notice that Donald Faison didn't answer one single question?

Ike and his dad played the game perfectly - so happy they won a million for their charity particularly since it was so personal to their family.

Whenever I see Ron Funches, I think, "I bet he gives good hugs." And then after his comment on the Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy clue Jimmy asked him why people call him Squeezy and he said "because I'm so huggable!" and I said, "See?!"

(Also, if you like quickie word games, check out Lemon Squeezy.)

Both teams went out at the same level and both times I was yelling "Nooo! Don't do it!" Glad Gillian and Danny decided to walk instead.

I figured geosmin had to be rain because geo=earth and the smell of rain is really the scents stirred up by the rain hitting the ground. Then I did some googling 'cuz I'm a nerd:

Quote

When a raindrop lands on a porous surface, air from the pores forms small bubbles, which float to the surface and release aerosols.[15] Such aerosols carry the scent, as well as bacteria and viruses from the soil.[15] Raindrops that move at a slower rate tend to produce more aerosols; this serves as an explanation for why petrichor is more common after light rains.
