That FJ seemed difficult for a celebrity game.

My first thought was "well, it's not the moon landing..."; then I focused on BBC in the clue and thought about what big event might have happened in 1950s Britain. I wasn't sure if the year was right but I knew it was in the ballpark and I couldn't come up with anything else.

That's how I got it.

I don't watch ESPN so I had no idea who Katie Nolan was, but she made a good impression. Really, everyone was likable. I was rooting for Dule because I wanted his charity to get the big money, but it's always a happy outcome whoever wins in Celebrity Jeopardy. I don't think I've ever seen the winnings go anywhere I genuinely think shouldn't get it.

Even though I was wrong, BBC gave me the clue that it probably had to do with the Royal family.

Steven Weber still looks really good. I was cheering for him.

For the most part, celebrities play it kind of safe when it comes to wagering, but not tonight!  Made for a very interesting game.

I like it when they're willing to bet big. Winning the big prize is awesome but they at least get a decent chunk of money for their charity no matter what, so why not?

Rats! I missed a bit because heavy rain interfered with my satellite reception and I was hoping I could check there to see what I missed.

I was hoping Steven Weber would win but Katie Nolan played that last round to perfection.

1953 = QE2's coronation and the successful summiting of Everest to me.  I also knew that televising the coronation was a huge deal in Britain, so FJ was an instaget for me.  Unfortunately Steven didn't hear me yelling it at him.

He does indeed.

FJ was an instaget for me, but I think I owe a lot to The Crown for that. While I've long known that Elizabeth's coronation was in 1953--it's the same year my parents were married, so the year always stuck in my mind--I'm not sure I'd have gotten there as quickly were it not for The Crown stressing that this was the first time a coronation had ever been televised and showed how much opposition there was within the BRF to televising the event and that it turned out to be a triumph.

While it was clear that neither Steven, nor Katie, nor Dulé knew the answer, I did wonder if anyone would have been able to write out "the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II" in the time allotted. That's quite a mouthful! (A stylusful?) I would have been wary of using "QEII" as a short cut. (I seem to recall a conversation here among those who've actually been Jeopardy! contestants, letting the rest of us know that they were allowed to write "What is" prior to the FJ clue being revealed.)

I loved when Ken said "Gloria Gaynor" to Steven's Donna Summer. He's just so quick.

Excellent episode!
