Well then let them be dumb

Spoiler

because I don't need to see him anymore! It's enough!

Spoiler

Also, why are Danielle and Brittany being so dramatic about what happened on fucking BB Reindeer Games? I hope they're acting because otherwise it's embarrassing.

That reminds me that I kinda hate that they do all reality people since it just means everyone is basically just acting. I mean, I guess as long as their acting entertains me it's fine lol.

9 Rules You Didn't Know The Traitors Contestants Have to Follow (Including Where They Stay — Hint: Not in the Castle!)
By Rebecca Aizin   January 11, 2025

Players don’t sleep in the castle
...
In each episode of the show, cameras follow the contestants as they seemingly get into bed in identical, Gothic-style rooms in the castle. However, the shot is deceiving: the competitors actually sleep in a hotel 45 minutes away from set.
*  *  *
There’s a limit to how much they can drink
...
Though the contestants are often shown with a glass (or goblet) in hand, they are limited to only one drink per evening.

There’s a limited amount of places they can go in the castle
...
Not only are the contestants not allowed to sleep in the castle, but they also have a limited number of spaces they can explore in the rented-out space. For season 2, the creators added the "scullery," which is like a kitchen and then the "folley," which is an outdoor, stone-covered area, for the Traitors and Faithfuls to convene in.
*  *  *
There’s security to ensure the Faithfuls don’t see the Traitors convening
*  *  *
Cast members can’t talk about the game to each other at the hotel outside of filming hours
*  *  *
Cast members must give up their personal belongings
*  *  *
Players don’t know who will be on the show before they arrive
*  *  *
Celebrities can’t promote their brands
*  *  *
Cast members must take a personality test beforehand
...
Ahead of taping, casting directors and producers administer personality tests to the potential candidates to determine whether their characters make them a good fit for the show — and, more importantly, who can handle being a Traitor.

Alan Cumming spills on his 'stern castle daddy' persona for 'The Traitors' Season 3
David Oliver   Jan 10, 2025
https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2025/01/10/alan-cumming-the-traitors-interview/77514403007/

Quote

Well, Cumming, 59, isn't quite as devilish in real life. "I am the host, but I'm playing a character of a host, very much so," he says. "I don't even sound like that; I put on a funny accent as well as a look and tone." In real life, "I don't go around quoting Shakespeare all the time, and I certainly don't boss people around. And I'm not so aggressive as this sort of stern castle daddy."
*  *  *
In fact, he's "acting a storm more than even I did on 'The Good Wife,' probably."
*  *  *
"As it goes on, people get more and more sort of maddened and irrational because they're in this sort of bubble and they think of nothing else," Cumming teases.

... And if the initial episodes are any indication, be prepared for as cutthroat a season as ever: "sort of like 'Lord of the Flies' with Botox," Cumming says.
*  *  *
“There’s fireworks and conflict galore in the turret,” Cumming says, as each of their [the Traitors'] strong personalities collide.
*  *  *
If given the chance, Cumming would love to play a traitor himself. That said, after hearing a traitor's rationale later this season, "I would never have thought of any of (that). I wouldn't have had a clue, and I would have just sort of gone with my gut." That's how he approaches his work, too.

Alan Cumming on Season 3 of Peacock's Traitors: "So Much Drama"

This season feels even different from the last two seasons. What stands out to you about this one?
I think partly because the second season was so successful, there was a pressure to not just repeat ourselves, it actually upped the ante. When you do a show like this, the first season nobody knows what's going to happen. It's virgin territory. And then, of course, people watch it. So it's a question of pulling the rug from under them and keeping it fresh and having these twists and surprises. Even with my costumes and everything, we upped the ante on that. I just think it was a combination of all these things. And the production value is so great. It looks so amazing. It's shot so well. And I think that it really hit its stride in a way, in this season. And it is bigger. I'm sort of a cult leader. I have my followers. I didn't have followers in the other seasons. So now I've gone from just like a dandy, lord of the manor in his castle, to official cult leader. I'm fine with it. So yes, everything has been upped a bit. And the contestants bring their energy and their backstories, and so that makes it a whole new thing as well. I love the fact of how each season is so different to the one before, even though, structurally, it has a similarity. The ending to this one is not like anything we've seen in the previous two seasons. There's bits in it that are so intense and brutal. I've said this before, but I actually thought I was going to have to break up a fight at round table one time. It was really terrifying. I don't break up many fights.
*  *  *
Every season it seems like the Housewives are always the one people focus on. Does that stand out to you? Why do you think that is?
I guess because they have a kind of collective personality, already established before you come into it. When you see a Housewife, you know exactly what that means. They're probably going to be ladies of a certain age, have quite a glamorous look, there may have been some surgery or some augmentation to their faces along the way, and also they understand how to make some drama out of lunch. But also, I really think they have a persecution complex, because they are always [saying], "They're always coming after the Housewives. It's a thing against the Housewives." Maybe sometimes, there's so many of [them] that maybe that's what it feels like, or they just maybe feel a little persecuted, just in general. But I love the way they gather as a pack and have this loyalty, sort of like the mafia, unspoken Housewives loyalty. It makes me laugh. And then, of course, it's actually really good to have a group like that within this game, because their blind loyalty and unflinching devotion to each other is, of course, great, because if one of them is a traitor, then it's more devastating, they've broken the mafia bond. They are hilarious, and I love it when they do well, because everybody has this sort of myth that you have to be in one of those gamer shows to do well at this game and it's not true. Sometimes it's actually good to have better social skills. And they also understand the drama of bringing a glass of wine around.

How do decide who's going to be a traitor?
At the start of the show they have some ideas about who they think would be good traitors. But the real thing that clinches it [is] when I do those interviews, the sort of fireside chats with the big pile of gold in front of them, and Lala, my dog in a little basket beside me. That's when we really make up our minds, because I ask them certain questions. It goes on for a long, long time. I've got 21 people, but you understand some of them are too thirsty, some of them want it too much, and then others are a bit tentative, and so you work out who would be good and also what would be a good combo. It's much more about the combo of people, because most people want to be a traitor, but it's about what is the combo of these personalities in the turret each night, because the denouement of each episode is what is happening there. So it's great to have some drama amongst them, as well as them being ruthless and brutal. Because just the very fact of being a traitor, you have to assume a role of being ruthless and brutal. This year was tremendous. There's so much drama, so much drama.

The Traitors star Jeremy Collins says Survivor history with Boston Rob doomed him
By Dalton Ross   January 17, 2025

Tony called Boston Rob a sellout. Do you agree or disagree?
I don't think Rob's a sellout, but this is Rob. You know what I mean? This is who he is. This is how he plays. He's for himself and that's it. Listen, I've wanted to play with Rob on Winners at War. He took out Natalie and I was like, “It's fine, we're good. I want to work with you. I want you to be my meat shield.” That's what I was looking for. And we couldn't get on the same page.

And then we took out Ethan, and he really didn't trust me. And I'm like, “Yo, it wasn't a shot at you. It was to get Ethan out of there so we could work together.” And he never wanted to work with me going into Traitors. I didn't think that we were going to be on the same page because we left it like that. But when he was on, I was like, “All right, well good, we can play together now. Let's go.” And I don't know, we just were never on the same page, me and him.

Boston Rob says hardest thing about The Traitors is the sheer volume of players
The reality TV veteran compares the game to "Deal or No Deal Island" and "Survivor."
By Dalton Ross   January 21, 2025
https://ew.com/the-traitors-boston-rob-hardest-thing-sheer-volume-players-8771413

Quote

Entertainment Weekly spoke to the reality TV veteran in Panama last summer, where he was filming his new Deal or No Deal Island After Show. Rob was also fresh off of filming on The Traitors season 3, so we asked the veteran of both games how they were similar and different. “They're both similar in that there's a challenge or excursion component to the game, there is a social or camp component of the game, and then there is the Temple or the Roundtable,” says Rob. “So they have similar components.”
*  *  *
But that’s apparently where the similarities end. “What's different is how much each of them matter in the different games," he continues. "In Deal or No Deal Island, the excursion part of the game is very important,” explains Rob. “It's where you can get an advantage, where you can get a leg up, and where you can keep yourself safe. In The Traitors, the sole purpose of the challenges is to add money to the pot, which at the end of the day doesn't really have any bearing on whether you're a Traitor or a Faithful or whether you stay.”

Boston Rob also notes that his latest reality adventure is in many ways closer to his first one in terms of the social and strategic elements at play. “Part of the game on Deal or No Deal has an element of luck and risk in it that is different from any other game that we play. There's also a mathematical part of it that you have to understand how to play correctly or optimally. On The Traitors, with the Roundtable, it's a lot closer to what a Survivor Tribal Council is, where you have to think about what you say, how you say it, listen to what other people are saying and be able to take in that information and put the pieces of the puzzle together and figure it out. The social parts of the games are similar on both shows. The alliances don't matter as much on Deal or No Deal Island, but on The Traitors, you really don't know.”
*  *  *
When it comes to what separates his new show the most from the previous two, Boston Rob says it is a matter of volume. “The main thing that's different from Traitors than Deal or No Deal Island, and Survivor for that matter, is the sheer number of people involved. Even on Survivor, even if it's a season where there's 20 people, they're split into two camps, so you’ve got to manage 10 people. On Traitors, there's 22 people. I mean, just trying to talk to that amount of people in the amount of time that you have before you go to the Roundtable or challenge or anything — it's almost impossible. And it's definitely impossible to have a one-on-one conversation with anyone.”

I didn't realize that NBC was only going to show the first couple of episodes and not the whole season.  I'm very disappointed as I was enjoying the show.  CBS (I think?) did that with the new Frasier show.  I guess these networks expect people to go to their paid streaming service to continue watching shows.  Oh well.  It was a fun couple of episodes.

I was also disappointed in the teasing of season 3. I'm hoping eventually VH1 will show season 3 as they put all of season 1 & 2 in a weekend marathon about a year ago. Fingers crossed!

The Traitors mayhem ensues at a chaotic and messy Roundtable
By Dalton Ross   January 30, 2025

Warning: This article contains spoilers about season 3, episode 6 of The Traitors.
*  *  *
Remarkably, that was not even the biggest battle at the Roundtable. After Derrick Levassuer came after Boston Rob, the Traitor turned the attention back onto Wes Bergmann. The two matched wits — and, in Boston Rob’s case, lies — but Wes made a massive miscalculation when he issued a threat to anyone who voted against him. “I appreciate you guys for not voting for me,” he told the group. “The one or two people that make that mistake, I’ve got my eye on you.” The other competitors did not react well to that in the least.

In the end, Rob tallied five votes — including one from Danielle, completing the Traitor-on-Traitor crime spree — but Ciara Miller cast the last and deciding vote for Wes, banishing him from the castle… but not before he could challenge Johnny Bananas for the title of Most Bitter Challenge Contestant To Be An Early Traitors Boot, flashing everyone the bird and saying “F--- all you guys” while on his way out of the castle.

Even though they succeeded — almost despite themselves — in getting another Faithful banished, the Traitors themselves seemed to be at an all-time low point. “This is the worst group of Traitors that I have ever seen,” Boston Rob marveled. “Nobody trusts anybody. It’s just insanity. What’s wrong with these people? All of them!”

Boston Rob did not ask Parvati for any Traitors advice before playing
By Dalton Ross   February 5, 2025
https://ew.com/boston-rob-didnt-ask-parvati-traitors-advice-before-playing-8784827

Quote

While Boston Rob dispensed his advice to Parvati before she played Deal of No Deal Island, what sort of intel did he seek out from her before he went to Scotland to play The Traitors? "Rob didn't ask me anything!" Parvati reveals. "I don't even know if Rob told me he was going to go out. He wants to play his own game. He's his own man. I was like, 'Okay, do your thing!'"

"We didn't talk," confirms Boston Rob, who has also always maintained he didn't do any pregame alliance-making before Survivor: Winners at War. "That's kind of indicative of the way I approach these shows. I have a very old-school approach. I don't like the pregame. I know it's part of it, I know people do it, but I hate it. I hated it in [Survivor: Winners at War]. I hated being out there on season 40 of Survivor when I found out the story had already been written and it just felt so unfair. So I don't participate."

Instead, Rob likes to play in the moment rather than trying to craft the moment before it happens. "I try to rely on my ability to adapt in the moment and figure things out on the fly, which, if we're being honest, it's treated me pretty good over the last 25 years," he says. "I get it, I don't always win, but I feel like I always play my best that way."

‘The Traitors’ Bosses on NDAs, Whether Danielle Told Britney, Those Campy Before-Bed Clips and Which Roundtable Was ‘Terrifying’ to Watch
By Emily Longeretta   Feb 27, 2025
https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/the-traitors-danielle-britney-ndas-season-3-1236322012/

Quote

Can you break down how you, along with Alan Cumming, chose this season’s Traitors?
Mike Cotton:
It’s the same process every season: There’s Alan, there’s us and there’s the network. We all have the discussion about who should be the Traitors, because that can shape the whole season. It was slightly different this year. There’s obviously a lot of gamers in the turret this year. With the twist at the start of the season, the cast had the chance to either take Rob [Mariano] or swap him out for someone else. We’d always planned that whoever was swapped out would become the final Traitor. So we didn’t know that Rob was necessarily going to become a Traitor; we thought they might swap someone else. But that was sort of their own decision.

Wow, so it wasn’t the plan when you cast Boston Rob for him to be a Traitor.
Cotton:
It was a roll of the dice. There were a lot of rivalries at the start of the season, so I thought one of the “Survivor” members might step forward to swap someone out, and they didn’t. We didn’t know what way that was going to go. So, a lot of chaos ensued.
*  *  *
You just said there is a worry this could implode. Bob could have blown up Rob’s identity as a Traitor when Rob started coming for him at that roundtable. What are the rules for what the Traitors can and can’t say?
Cotton:
This is a good question, because we tell them this a lot! The Traitors take an oath with Alan, where they promise to murder every night and they promise to keep the identity of their fellow Traitors a secret. The rules say that they can, at the roundtable, accuse a fellow Traitor of being a Traitor, but only from the guise of being a Faithful themselves. What they could never do is say, “I know that he’s a Traitor because I’m one as well” — or “…because I’ve been to the turret.” They have to be acting as the Faithful when they accuse another Traitor. So, it’s quite terrifying to watch when two Traitors are going hard at each other. It’s also a risky move. We say to any Traitors, of course you can accuse another Traitor, but you have to be aware of how that might affect your own gameplay. Rob went in there, bold, and took out Bob. And he actually carried on for quite awhile longer. Perhaps, if the Traitors had been more of a harmonious group after, he would still be in the game. You just don’t know.

OK, they can’t tell them at the table… but what about elsewhere? Carolyn has claimed that Danielle told Britney and maybe Dylan Efron that she’s a Traitor.
Cotton:
I find that theory mad, if I’m honest. We listen to absolutely everything that happens in the castle. We’re with them 24/7, they’re either filming or in their rooms. There was never a moment where any of us ever heard Danielle reveal to Britney or whoever else that she was a Traitor. Also, that would be an absolutely crazy move, because you’re then out of the game, essentially. I can’t see any reason why anyone would actually ever do that.

Do they sign NDAs saying they can’t?
Cotton:
They sign a lot of paperwork, and the Traitors sign their own oath and agreement with us. There’s lots of things like that, but there was never a moment that we heard when anyone revealed their identity and honestly, it wouldn’t make any sense.

What keeps Traitors from revealing the other Traitors after they’re banished/during their exit speech?
Cotton:
That would be a break of the rules as well. Once they reveal their identity, when they have their passing words, they are not allowed to reveal their fellow Traitors’ identities.
*  *  *
There are two episodes left. What can you tease about what’s to come?
Rees-Jones:
There are things that we didn’t expect to happen, that the audience might not expect to happen as well. There are twists and turns that were exciting and terrifying to film!
