That friend group is so super toxic.  They all say and do such horrible things to one another.   I did love how much Marcus wanted out of that group hang as quick as possible.   He knows they suck.

I wish Abby had a true friend she could actually talk to.  Except with how much the whole group sucks, it's so shocking that no one sees just how much she is struggling.  I was hoping with her friendship with Ginny that she might be able to talk to her about what is going on, but it doesn't seem so.  Poor girl.

I'm interested to see what the deal is with Austin's dad. I'm assuming he was the guy in an earlier ep that was banging on the door and saying he's going to kill Georgia.

I'm pretty sure the guy banging on the door was the first husband she killed, who she then had the biker gang "disappear" the body and that the private detective is now looking into. Austin's dad was probably already in prison at that point.

That guy was dead before Austin was even born though.

Very disappointed we didn't get to see any of the Clue murder mystery game.

I was wondering if he was the guy she was supposed to go on a date with, who ordered in. They cut to that scene, as soon as she had that argument with Paul. I can't remember how much younger Austin is, compared to Ginny, though.

The whole premise of Georgia trying to get the teacher fired is too woke for me.  I'm glad Ginny stopped her and that is the only kind thing I can say about Ginny.

I don't think it was too woke. She was pissed, and protecting her daughter.

Considering Georgia's history I'm surprised she didn't try to kill the teacher. Wanting to get him fired is a relatively mild reaction by Georgia's standards.

She killed someone who was molesting her daughter. Murder shouldn't be the go-to, but I think it's natural feeling, at least. the other guy was abusing her.

Yea, I think the whole 'Georgia kills anyone who inconveniences her/is a threat to her' notion is a little overblown.

The teacher is incompetent and a racist.  I think Georgia's reaction is totally fine.

Yes, people have wanted certain teachers fired decades before the term "woke" started being passed around.

I'm missing the racist part.  The teacher is definitely at fault to have a student determine curriculum.  The use of the term "white fragility" made me think woke.  I thought he may have been interested in seeing another point of view so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.  As a Native American I am used to having to educate others and being proud of my heritage and as it was the intent to erase us and our ways, I don't mind educating others.  I don't mind being educated as well.

I don't think the teacher is a racist, but it's certainly a blind spot, and he's a terrible teacher for putting the burden on Ginny to select a book about the Black experience (as if there is only one experience!) and then teach the class.

He reminds me of some of the teachers I had in high school, where you know they were going through the motions until they could retire.

Nah, the teacher is definitely racist. Not overtly, but the microaggressions are all there.

Yeah, let's rack up all the evidence, shall we?

1.  Teaching English, but with all white writers, in 2022!

2.  When is criticized for this, gets very defensive and starts treating his one Black student differently.

3.  Puts the onus on the one Black student in his class to change the curriculum.  Therefore, he doesn't have to do any of his own work or research to fix the problem.  How will the student be judged by him for doing this?  How will the student know what answer for him is "Good enough"?  How will the student be graded on this work?  He is literally giving one student more and different work because of their race.

How is this not treating somebody differently based on their race, and that race just happens to be historically oppressed in the U.S., hence, racism.  Discrimination and racism.

Even if we put all of this aside, the non-white students in his class know that he only cares about the experience of white writers and is not even willing to put in a modicum of effort to be educated on any other.  So how will he grade THEIR writing?  From a very narrow lens, obviously.

Asking people of colour to educate you about race is embarrassing in 2022, and doubly embarrassing if you're supposed to be their authority and teacher.  Pretty pathetic all around.

Nah, I agree with you.  It would have been better if he had asked her to help him diversify his reading list by providing opinions on literature he selected, but it didn't seem to be coming from a place of hate, just misguided ignorance.  Just my 2 cents. She seemed perfectly capable of handling it without her mother getting him fired.  That's just passive aggressive BS, if Georgia had to get involved,  why wouldn't she confront him directly or report his behavior to the school board,  not plant alcohol and porn.

Teacher here.
Public school teachers don’t create their own curriculum.
writing curriculum Is a paid job. Teachers often have some choices among a list of books, can decide how to deliver content and depending on school may not be teaching the same book at the same time.

but NO public school has individual teachers choosing books. That’s college. I’ve taught at both. Yet another thing la la land gets wrong.

also AP English is a college level class and is not open to sophomores. Juniors maybe.

so contrived.

In the world of G&G, this teacher can clearly pick his own curriculum though, because he abdicated the responsibility to Ginny.  So, I understand in the real world that might not happen but on this show it is.  I can comfortably blame him.
