Now the mob is involved.  Lol, this show.

I thought Patrick already confirmed that he has cheated on Gino?  Maybe I misunderstood his previous scene.  I did laugh when Henry scolded Gino for his obsession with the killer while waving a gun in his face.

The dismemberment scene was pretty gross.

I'm surprised that Gino rode around with Henry after he threatened to kill him.  I was afraid that Whitely would leave the bar in the back to sneak up on Gino, but I'm glad that didn't happen.

I wish they would merge these threads since they are airing two episodes each week and, in this case, the second episode may have informed the first. I was trying to figure out how Barbara died if Big Daddy isn't real (and I think we can assume he did not just magically appear behind her in the shower). I'm starting to agree with speculation that Patrick is Big Daddy. Now we sort of know where the imagery came from - they guy they accidentally killed.

Both these episodes featured pairings of characters we previously didn't even know knew each other.

I am having a hard time remembering the character names this season. I don't know if there are too many too fast, that so many look alike, or if I am not invested, but I read the message boards, and struggle to remember who Henry is. And Zachary Quinto is Zachary Quinto, not his character. Not sure what is not gelling in my feeble mind.

C'mon, it's easy! There's Gino, Gino's boyfriend the cop, his wife, the creepy guy, the mask guy, the young guy, the photographer guy, Zachary Quinto and Sandra Bernhard. Oh, and Patty LuPone and what's-his-face as the old guy from the bar. No problem at all.

Why would you bury a body when you have boats and all that water available?   If you're going to Dexter the body just go all the way with it.

Patrick himself asked the same question and Sam said it was because they were on drugs. Trouble is, Henry and Whitely were in charge of disposing the body, not them. I mean, if all Whitely did was cut the body up and leave it there for Patrick and Sam to bury, he's not much help.

And yet you only mention Gino. Don't forget, there's also Monotone- oops Billie Lourde. Personally, I would rather watch the cat than BL, but I guess part of the horror is watching her act? It brings back the deep seeded fear of attending endless elementary school productions of Death of a Salesman?

Seriously though, I remember Gino, Patrick, Fran and Whitely only. I know Henry because of posts here.

I completely forgot about Billie Lourde, because, like everyone else here, I think she's one of the worst actresses I've ever seen.

I really enjoyed this pair of episodes, Patrick really sold the grief over his ex-wife -- so he's probably the killer but also maybe doesn't know it? And dissociated after the Fire Island incident or something, and is somehow seeing himself do some of this? I don't know! Also, did Patrick take the dog? Something's going to happen to that Papillon.

Now I kind of want to go back and watch some earlier scenes to see if there were hints that certain folks knew each other. I do love a reveal like that!

I can't wait to meet Whitely's mother, maybe a surprise cameo from a former AHS stalwart? Conroy? Lange? Bates?

I do recall months ago seeing AHS signs for street closures in some very non-AHS locations, and now I see why. It's been kind of fun trying to identify the digitally-altered locations. I've noticed a lot of productions using way-Upper Manhattan or the outer boroughs for 70s/80s NYC scenes meant to be in midtown/downtown. That does make some sense, aesthetically. Less contemporary-looking development.

Love Denis O'Hare as Henry. Would love to see an entire spin-off season starring his character as a fixer for the mafia in 1970s NYC.

Mr Whitely still gives me the creeps, especially his extremely small nose and the way he walks, talks and looks at you. The actor is really doing such a great job in this role! Probably the best AHS villain in a long, long time!

I definitely think they are building up to Patrick being Big Daddy. That sex scene where they killed the young man in the mask was one of the hardest scenes to watch in the entire series for me, on par with the Drilldo one in "Hotel". Just when I thought AHS couldn't shock me anymore!

Hasn't Patrick been attacked by Big Daddy?

On the beach Patrick seems to not know who Mr. Whitely is when they are discussing him. He was referred to as “the cleaner.” Yet, Patrick saw Mr. Whitely when he came to dismember the young man he accidentally killed.  AND, then at the hospital when Mr. Whitely taunted Patrick at after he put Gino in the morgue drawer.  Whitely waived at him and ran.  Patrick ran out of the hospital after him. Gino says he saw Mr. Whitely, but Patrick stays silent. Why?  Why would a Patrick allow Gino to go scout out Mr. Whitely with Henry, when he knows he’s the cleaner?

And there’s no other person in the bar where Henry meets Mr. Whitely?  Not even a bar tender?  Hmmm…It’s sort of funny how Gino keeps chasing Mr. Whitely….he knows he can’t handle that man.  Each time, he gets overpowered.

Also, back to the fleas.  Deer also carry fleas.  They exterminated the deer on the island, but they had already gotten a ride off the island.  Are they spreading the illness that causes spots?

And, yeah….why did the writing caption in the beginning  say Fire Island 1981 when the couple stumbled onto the buried skeleton, when it’s actually present day?  The old part was when Patrick accidentally killed the young man, right?  Yet everyone looks the same as they did in 1979, when they showed Patrick first meet Sam.   Odd.

Present day on the show is 1981, I believe.

Lol….that makes sense, but it still provides an odd timeline.  The body had time to turn into a skeleton, so…..if the accidental death occurred in 1981 and they are currently in 1981…..idk.  Maybe, I’m missing something.

The accidental death occurred in 1979, I think. So a couple years passed before the body parts were discovered on the beach.

Ok.  Patrick said he first met Sam in 1979.  I was thinking time passed with them as lovers before the accidental death.  I guess not.

The only timestamp the episode needed was the 1979 one to clarify when Patrick first went to Fire Island. All the 1981 one did was make viewers question when exactly the show is *actually* set.

Are there actual fleas or that was just Gino’s explanation for the itchy rash-like spots that are a symptom?

I'm finally watching this episode. Like many here, I'm wondering why I'm not enjoying this season more. I think it's because it's played out. Will someone please tell Ryan Murphy that people in leather hoods are NOT the only scary thing in the world. How many seasons have revolved around "Scary dude in leather" or "ooh Bondage. Spookkyyyy". I'm bored. I shouldn't be bored the actors are great. But most of the characters are jerks- which makes it difficult for me to root for them. I want to be creeped out. But I'm not as creeped out by dude in a mask as I used to be. Since I've never been creeped out by that, I'm meh.
