Although not perfect, I really enjoyed this series and felt like 10 episodes was just right. Some random thoughts:

the best female friend was my favorite character even though her name escapes me as I type this

anyone else like me NOT surprised when Ingrid wasn’t made partner? Although the reason why…..whooooboy yikes

the turnaround in Z’s dad’s thinking about Z and Green Tech was eye rollingly fast (and thus, unrealistic)

speaking of Z, I felt Ingrid had the most spark with him compared to Nick or Murphy (aka London - whose first name escapes me)

eta:  it just occurred to me to wonder why older brother had a Western name (Carter) while Z had an Asian name (Xi Min..sp?).  In my experience, parents do one or the other with naming convention

I had to IMDb where else I saw Murphy because it was driving me crazy!!!  (Christian Ozero in Vampire Academy)

really appreciated the female lead being Asian but it seemed they tried *too hard* on the diversity front with all three main characters  being minorities in some way (Asian, Jewish, and like Dan the scum said, Tyler was both black and gay)

this show was materialistic porn (clothes, apartment, offices) and I normally don’t care about stuff like that

what really surprised me was that Nick really WAS who he seemed:  THE perfect boyfriend (except for not getting Ingrid the dress she asked for (yellow instead of some pink dress).  I will forgive this by fanwanking that he wanted to show how much he loved her and was proud of her by buying her the yellow dress. Lovely design, but as a fellow Asian, I too don’t wear yellow clothes.) I thought for sure something would pop up to show he really was too good to be true

No clue if there will be a second season but if so, I plan to watch

I really hope this gets a season 2. I had a feeling Murphy was gonna screw her, but I didn't think it would quite be so calculated. Those last shots really showed us that it was his plan the whole time.. I think I'm in the minority, but I really thought they had good chemistry. Maybe it's because there were romance tropes in there that I love, but I was rooting for them. If they want that to be the main romance, I don't really know how they come back from it, because damn, that was ice cold.

I didn't totally love her friends. I'm happy they made up in the end, but I thought they were too hard on her. Did she mess up? Of course she did. But they acted like it was vindictive, and I feel like really missed an opportunity on the show to dig further into the whole "model minority" topic as it relates to Asians.

I was kind of hoping the 3 of them would end up opening their own firm, and I guess they maybe will, but it appears there will be a detour through another stint of the big corporate law firm.

I'm a little surprised this hasn't taken off.  It did remind me a lot of Emily In Paris by the end--or that it should cater to a similar crowd.  I'm not saying this show is great.  It's not.  But neither is Emily In Paris.

I'm also surprised that it was released in the summer when so much about it had a holiday/fall vibe.  I don't know what Netflix has coming up but I think holding it a few months would have made sense.

I couldn't get into Murphy and Ingrid.  It made no sense to me from the get go.  I don't know what he had to offer her other than the fact that they had one good night in bed that he actually forgot about.  She had built up some sort of meant-to-be destiny fantasy in her head after that night.  Doesn't it all completely fall apart when the guy doesn't remember you?

They spent the first half of their time with him sending out little digs at her expense.  She eventually got encouragement for him but she gets that from many other people in her life.  And the second half of their relationship, he is all woe is me about not having a great home life.  I think they're going to attempt to use that as an excuse for why he did what he did--that he has felt he needed to claw to make up for his poor upbringing.

Not going to buy it on a show that showcases the struggle minorities face.  Or maybe they won't do that.  Maybe it's another way to showcase privilege even if it's not monetary. Murphy already screwed up in one location but instead of having it end his career, he moved over to another location and was immediately on partner track.

Same but he was pretty straight forward.  On one hand, I appreciate that there wasn't some twist.  On the other hand, it highlighted everything wrong with what Ingrid was doing.  The unprofessionalism.  The carefree cheating.

I couldn't help but feel that she absolutely deserved what happened to her.  All the red flags were there.

And the yellow might not have been her best color but I thought it looked nice on her.  It was far from ugly.

I'm not quite sure why Rachel was so stubborn with Ingrid but I think Tyler was 100% justified in his position. She agreed to inform him there wouldn't be consequences for Dan and then to offer an NDA when he said he'd be quitting.  Marty didn't choose her out of respect for Tyler and she didn't agree to do it out of respect for Tyler.  Marty chose her hoping she'd be able to convince him to take the NDA and she agreed because staying on the partner track was more important to her than anything at that point.  She made a choice.  It wasn't friendship.

Speaking of Tyler, I thought for sure he'd hook up with Todd (the redhead).

But did Murphy really not remember or pretended he didn't remember?  Wasn't there a scene where he flat out told her he did remember their night together in London?  What an ass-hat to play games like that.

And if this show does have a S2, yeah...I think he might justify what he did by leaning on his poor background.

I almost wonder if the eye lash scene between Ingrid and Z is to set up a possible romance for them later (again, if this show is renewed)? Him removing her lash just seemed a weird thing to throw in...if there's no payoff later.

I think he might have said something to that effect but I couldn't quite figure out  whether or that that's what he was saying or if he was trying to pretend he didn't forget her once he decided he wanted her again.

Either way, it's ridiculous.  He's ridiculous.  And it'd be just the kind of thing he'd say or do to fuck with her.

Haha- Fuck Boy fucked her out of the partner position. I love it. Serves her right. I wonder how (if there is a second season) they will come back from this as a couple, but since I don’t really care about them I’m fine if they break up. I’m sure that she’s going to have some fling with Z but then realize that Murphy is her “soulmate” and will eventually go back him.

I just saw that Dominic Sherwood (aka Murphy) played a US federal marshal in a movie called Eraser: Reborn.  I can’t help but wonder what he sounds like with an American accent!  But not so curious that I’d pay to watch.

None of the potential romantic interests on this show are any great shakes.

Same.

How is Ingrid representing herself to Z and the New Leaf women? And can Rachel go against the law firm like that? She's signing her termination papers and maybe getting into legal hot water. It's a conflict of interest at least.

Ingrid lives at 15 CPW? That's very pricey real estate. Apartments start at a minimum of $5 million.

True.  But that includes some of the women too.

Yeah. I don't think any of them could be doing what they're doing but I don't know enough about law.  Technically, their client is the company and not the CEO so maybe it's not a disbarrable offense but it's definitely a fireable one for Rachel and Justin.

Everyone is kind of terrible. Your comparison with Emily in Paris was a good one. I like this a bit better, maybe because Ingrid actually works for her success, instead of falling into it the way Emily does.

I like this better too because I think it's more intentional than EIP.  Emily's characters are awful but I think many times unintentionally so.

I really enjoyed this. Thought the acting was great and the cast are all extremely attractive. The subtle racism was fascinating to watch.

Tyler is probably my favourite character.

Can't say I care about Murphy/Ingrid; much preferred her with Nick (or even Zee).

I hope there is a Season Two.

I finished the show and I will say that the show’s best asset is the friendship between Ingrid, Rachel and Tyler. I like their camaraderie, but I also think they look great together, there was something aspirational about them.

I loathed and despised Ingrid’s love interests and do not want them on my screen except as villains. I can’t deal with the idea that Rachel and Dan will be a thing. I have no problem with Rachel not being with whatshisname who can’t tell the difference between reply and reply-all. Why am I supposed to feel sorry for that mediocre person?

I don’t understand what Tyler’s new job entails.

He's going to help set up a designers' collective, or something like that. He'll handle the legal side—contracts, leases, certificates, etc.—and let that annoying designer deal with the creative side.

Out of Ingrid’s potential suitors, I think she has the best chemistry with Zi.

Not a fan of Tyler’s new job. That guy was something else.

The final scene with Marty and Zi was a nice touch. But the follow-up of finding out she didn’t make partner because of her arrest? I didn’t see that coming.

The problem with shows like this is that there's no one to root for. I liked Tyler until he cheated on his partner. Rachel is somewhat rootable, but she's the only one. Ingrid not making partner and Murphy selling her out were both utterly predictable. As I said in the ep8 thread, I don't get the attraction to Murphy...he gives me creepy Ed Westwick vibes.

The three of them starting their own firm was the obvious direction to go in, especially in this era of work-life balance. But apparently Ingrid would rather keep working for Marty and the firm. Mmmkay.

With the ridiculous real estate porn and the open featuring silhouettes of extremely skinny people, I'm not sure who the target audience is for this show. I can appreciate better representation on TV, but no young girls should aspire to be like Ingrid.

I do like the HR lady though.

I think I replied somewhere in this forum  (not sure which episode specifically) that I first saw the Murphy actor in the movie The Vampire Academy.  And yeah, when I saw that film, I too got the creepy vibe from him (it's the eyes for me).

just finished it - and i know there is no season 2 now.

i thought it was realistic for Ingrid to want to stay at the firm if she could and made partner. she'd be making MONEY, whereas start up legal company would not make cash. She could take the money for a few years and then do something worthy, with a solid CV behind her.

I think her and Xi would get together. But did Murphy screw her over? or was he required to tell someone what happened or risk his job?

Silly Rachel saying MAYBE to cute boy.

overall i enjoyed the show - interesting on all the microagressions the 3 faced (well 2 really, Rachel didn't seem affected) and then nice to see friendships appearing such as Ginger man and Tyler.

hopefully at least a BOOK 2 will come out, to follow them (no idea if book and series are similar plots)
