That's from 11:05 p.m. to 12:04 a.m. I might pass on it, because I'd rather binge-watch earlier seasons without knowing anything about them. I counted the 8:00 p.m. repeat of Episode 10 as "new." Because my TV Guide does! The NEW Episode 11, from 9:33 p.m. to 11:05 p.m., is titled "The Reckoning": "With only three left in the competition, the participants struggle to claim the $500,000 prize. While some continue to deal with the mental game, a new predator threatens a survivalist's longevity." This is listed as the Finale. Link to comment

Not that she had a food ration among her 10 items, but that she is rationing it out? I don't recall her mentioning it on the show. I wish the show wasn't so secretive about who is eating what. If someone brings some rations, they should show it. As long as they're following the rules, it's perfectly fair. 3 Link to comment
Jeanne222 August 18, 2021 Share August 18, 2021 I'm still betting on Theresa for the win! In my mind there should be money for first, second and third. This is gruelling! 2 Link to comment

This is mostly speculation on my part, because I have a hard time believing Theresa has survived this long on half a can of rose hips and some woody roots per day. I'm surmising she must have stretched her rations enough to have taken her this far, just based on the small amounts of foraged food the episodes are showing us. I have no trouble believing Theresa has the mental fortitude to have resisted consuming all her rations early in the game. Pure speculation on my part, of course, but that's what happens when there's an information vacuum. 6 Link to comment

This "Ultimate Moments" episode will have scenes from all past seasons so to me, it seems like its own beast. 1 Link to comment
rmontro August 19, 2021 Share August 19, 2021 It does seem like it would be cleaner to have two threads. Link to comment
Quilt Fairy August 19, 2021 Author Share August 19, 2021 Two threads it is. That was my own inclination, the only reason I hesitated was that frequently on 2 episode nights for other shows folks end up talking about both episodes in the first thread anyway. Sending good thoughts to Theresa! 1 Link to comment

He also drives a school bus, so the man does what he has to do to support his family. I follow him on Facebook. He's pretty high up on the awesome list for me. I love Britt. I thought he was an accountant? I remember he said he was the first white collar worker on this show. Good for him that he got a Jeep commercial. 2 Link to comment
Jeanne222 August 21, 2021 Share August 21, 2021 So I watched the final last night and was mildly disappointed! I hated that they pulled Theresa. She had such a positive attitude and was so clean right up til the end. I also missed having Clays family walking into camp when he won. Don't they usually have a sit down with the showered and shaved winner? I always liked that. I'm guessing covid changed a lot of things. 3 Link to comment

I hate to look at things this way but is it me or do they often pull a woman within hours of a man winning? There was one season a few years back - I think Carleigh's first season, where she was this close to winning and suddenly she was pulled for weight. I remember thinking that it looked deliberate. Like why didn't they show that they also did a medical check for the guy and he passed it? Perhaps I'm just remembering things wrong, so someone correct me if I am. 1 Link to comment
Melina22 August 21, 2021 Share August 21, 2021 I believe in a previous season they explained the criteria for pulling someone due to weight. I think it was Patagonia where Dave ended up literally skeletal. There's a mathematical computation, percentage of body weight lost, plus various things like heart rate and BP, which I think took out Colter. The women generally seem to go in quite thin, with very little too lose, and they do seem to be pulled due to weight loss more than men, but I haven't done the math so I could be wrong about this 1 Link to comment

What was heartbreaking was that she purposely gained 25 pounds when they brought her back for the a All-Stars season and then had to tap out very early because she got a hook stuck in her hand. I sometimes wonder if the show just does not cast heavier women? The only heavier lady I remember was former police officer Traci, who tapped due to mental demons. Most of the women start out rail thin on a show where you are going to spend the majority of your time starving like that short-haired lady who ate her own mucus. I agree. Colt was bone thin! Biko was more than ready to go! And yes I think Colt only went a day or two more. I’m pretty sour grapes but then again the doctors are monitoring each one and we have to trust them. I always wonder what the long term health is for these contestants! Do they have heart problems? My husband is even worse than me about it. He's convinced that the show has been unfair to women. Then again it seems to be the women that end up either cutting or in Carleigh's case, hooking themselves the most. Although it's probably neck and neck between the men and women as to who ends up going home after making a big mistake. I do think women are at a disadvantage in that they have less weight to lose so under virtual starvation conditions they will get underweight quicker despite their generally smaller stature. Although if I were there it wouldn't happen that fast at my age and weight and with my metabolism! The closest thing to this I've experienced is a few years ago when I had gallstones stuck in my bile duct and it took 4 months and 3 procedures for the most skilled specialist in my state to finally get them all out. I was literally unable to eat any fat at all or I would experience excruciating pain. I dropped 30 pounds in 4 months eating like a bird. I didn't do tons of exercise but I didn't sit at home and do nothing either during that time. So it really does depend on the person and it does look like the show is picking naturally lean women with high metabolisms and that doesn't help. 1 2 Link to comment

dranelittle January 29, 2022 Share January 29, 2022 google for the Minnnesota Starvation experiment of WW2. They found that if you eat some food, but less than 1500 calories per day (as a 170 lb man) that you lost weight FASTER than if you'd just fasted. this is true because when you have no food, your body's metabolism will slow down. So it's a bad idea to eat a bit now and then. Because the producers insist upon your having a bowel movement once per week, you have to save your rations and eat 2000 calories all in one day, once per week, so you can be assured of having that BM. The longest fast on record was 13 MONTHS. A 450 lb man went down to 170 lbs. 3/4 lb per day, but he was just sitting around at room temps, not working his butt off in the cold, wind, dampness, etc. Top swimmers have to eat 10,000 calories per day and they aint fat! Working really hard, long hours, in cold conditions, really takes a lot of food to keep you going. Link to comment
