Forgot to mention from the Doris and John episode, that the house where they showed John and his male roommate living, was so very clearly NOT an Airbnb.  OMG, considering that they each live there with their children, there was an appalling lack of furniture and just stuff.  That roommate said something about how he and his kids spend most of their time upstairs, which sounded kind of weird, unless there's some great den/bonus room up there.

Yeah I was thinking like the one shot in Alton there may not be much demand for AirBnBs in BFE West Virginia.

Honest question to the guys here - would her looks be enough for you to overlook her apparent lack of personality/intelligence?

(Don't mean that to sound harsh.  I say "apparent," because we only saw her in this setting, and only for a few minutes.)

Absolutely not. I'm a straight married guy, and even if I could have a chance with her with no repercussions, I still wouldn't. Even if she looked like Gal Gadot, I still couldn't with that weird personality.

First time posting here.   I watch Catfish only when I have run out of other shows or it's three in the morning and I'm too tired to search for other shows.   It's junk food, basically.

I watched an episode last night and came away feeling like I had been catfished by the show: it had me believing it was a show that exposed internet fakes, but turned out to be something else.

The episode was from several seasons back, I think.   Title: Kayla and Courtney.   Courtney is a complete stranger who contacts Kayla and says "Hi, I have been talking to your dead father," then appears to know things nobody but dead dad and close family would know.

Obviously a scam.  I mean OBVIOUSLY.   But Nev and Max just sat there like it was all good and everyone watching should believe that Courtney is really communicating with the dead.

How do you do however many seasons of meeting liar after liar after liar, then just "believe" someone who says they are talking to dead people?   I did some googling after that and discovered allegations that Courtney is close to someone who had known Kayla's father and from whom she could have easily gotten Kayla's secret family info.

Even if Nev and Max missed this, at the very least they should have considered the scam of "cold reading" as a possibility for what might be happening.   But no.  By the end of the show they were accepting it as gospel.   Even in 2019, long after the above allegations had been on the internet for a couple years, Nev was still pushing the Courtney as medium fantasy in his Catfish Catch-Up.

As I was watching this I was thinking it's a shame James Randi isn't still around so Courtney could go collect his million dollar prize for real proof of psychic powers.  (I am being sarcastic, of course.)

But wow.  The show really jumped the shark here.   By the end, it was little more than an infomercial for Courtney's purported psychic abilities.

Re: Angel and Sharon, when someone shows you who they are, believe them.  Angel dodged a bullet.  Sharon is a real piece of work, not only for all the varied lies, but for how defensive as well as accusatory she was when they met the first time outside.

Actually enjoyed the 10-yr anniversary special.  It was kinda funny remembering all the fads from each year.  And given that I have devoted 10 years of wasted brain cells to this show, I remembered almost all of the episodes they featured. Heaven help me, but as lame as this show has become, I still hope they continue for 10 more years!

Clips shows are always just filler.

After the previous week's clip show, I didn't even watch this one once I realized that this was another one. This season sucked, every catfish turned out not to be one, & now clip shows. I think they've reached the end.

It's just temporary 🙂 Different co-host next week and Kamie will be back eventually!

I don't have a problem with Laura, but I know a lot of people do, so starting the season with her as co-host seemed like an odd choice.

I wonder what Kamie is up to?

Yeah I don’t believe you serve six months in prison for public intoxication.

I could be wrong but I thought the 6 months was for the other crime that he didn’t mention. He was drinking, the police came and discovered he had a warrant in another state. Either way, he definitely wasn’t very forthcoming and I just hope he’s getting his life back on track. Not sure why the girl would want to get with him, but I guess everyone deserves a chance.

I don’t mind Nev’s wife, but I don’t think she brings that much to the show.

I think he was on parole (I think Nev accidentally called it probation) for the Georgia theft crimes he had served some longer time for.  When he was arrested in Florida his parole was revoked by Georgia for violating parole and he had to serve more time there.  Then he had to go to Florida to serve time for the new charges.  I think while drunk he may have committed another crime which he didn’t want to admit to on camera.  It also seemed weird that the Georgia crimes were supposedly committed when he was a teen but he is 30 now and just finishing the sentences for them.  Lotsa suspect info all around.  Also when Missy said he is fine I was wondering what kind of losers she normally dates.

OK this one was awful.  It was all either a big act or they are airing people with mental illness that need professional help.  Again miss Kamie, but I bet she is glad to have missed this one.  She would have been burning sage the entire show.

It seems like I have typed this sentence 100 times before in this thread, but here I go again. How stupid can you be? The "sister" of someone you've only contacted online & never met or facetimed with tells you to get a tattoo of that person's name, so you do. Then that person decides you two should have a baby (even though you still haven't met or even facetimed), so you go out & find a man to impregnate you. What is wrong with these people?

Kamie come back!!!!!

I cannot stand the episodes with guest hosts.  They overemote constantly and act like toddlers with a new toy.  It's all OMG!!!!!!!!  all the time. Kamie has a 'seen it all' presence that is comforting amid all the ridiculousness of the catfishers and catfishees. The guest hosts are way too energetic and excited and act like cats with a new feather toy.

This latest episode featured the stupidest catfishee yet. How people just connect with a stranger online and then do whatever they tell them to do without questioning it makes me fear for the future of our species. How are people this desperate and gullible?  You'd think that if they are aware enough to watch a show like Catfish they'd be aware enough not to fall into these stupid 'relationships'.

Sham and Phillip- that was the fakest shit that’s ever faked.  No Academy Awards will be handed out tonight.

Came here just to see if there would be comments like this. It seemed sketchy from the beginning but that reveal performance was something else. I wonder if her name is really Sham or if she thought it was apropos?

From what I've read elsewhere online, Sham is a real drag performer and artist. She's been on a few other reality shows like Judge Steve Harvey and has an IMDB that lists some minor tv appearances. So it all fits that the whole thing was fake and just done for exposure.

I really wish Catfish wouldn't play along. Now if they tried to fake Catfish with such bad acting and got caught, that might be pretty entertaining.

Oh, and people online seem pretty convinced that the pics of the prince are actually some famous gay porn star.

His culture is so dangerous that they could be killed for being together!  He must remain hidden for his own safety! Oh noes!  Quick, let's put all this on national TV!

I agree. This one was too fake from moment one. It made the suspension of disbelief into road kill on the highway to Palm Springs.

Grateful Kamie is back though.

The show should be:

Max Joseph & Kamie Crawford...

YMMV

Agreed, but we definitely know Nev is going to ride the Catfish train until the wheels fall off.

If not Catfish, then what for Nev?  Kinda funny that Kamie is getting lots of opportunities and Nev is just . . . reinventing Catfish over and over again.

There was a UK Daily Mail story today in which Sham was whining about her awful Catfish experience. She was complaining there was no hair and makeup for her and the producers wouldn’t let her retake scenes she didn’t like.
She also said she’d been on more than 20 reality shows.
She claimed that she threw the supposed catfish in the pool but the scene wasn’t shown. Of course it would have been!
All more reason to believe Sham and catfish were fake, whether or not Catfish knew it.

Agree. They need to stop having "content creators" and serial reality show fakers. At least this time Nev and Cami were suspicious, or pretended to be. With Sham, they just played along and never even did the simplest research that could have shown they were fake.
