Starling and the team are called to Tennessee where the FBI is laying siege to a fringe militia group called "The Statesmen".

I wonder how many months after Waco this was?

I kinda like there's no elaborate psychos yet, just regular scumbags.

And it looks like the show's trying to make me like Krendler. Stop that.

When did Clarice get a brother?

Why did she have to put on a smoky eye and dark lipstick before going into the compound?

Based on the fall leaf colors we saw as they drove into Tennessee, it must be late September or October. Waco was in February.

Waco was April 19, 1993 - I know this because it’s the birthday of someone I love very much. Two years later, Oklahoma City was on the same date.

This episode reminded me a bit of the "Minimal Loss" episode of Criminal Minds. I liked Clarice's interaction with the kid.

The way this was filmed also really made it feel like something filmed back in the '90s, which I also liked.

I find Clarice very likable.

But she didn’t have to announce that she was arresting him at that moment, did she?

I was thinking about that and the only reason I could think that she would do that is to get him to threaten her life so that if the sniper shot him, it would be justified, resisting arrest, threatening an officer, her life was in danger, etc.

She said "You're pointing your weapon at a federal officer" to make it known to those listening in that she was in danger and the sniper was justified in taking the shot.

Speaking of Horrible Hollywood Tropes. Why in hell is every single electronic surveillance device designed to operate without being found equipped with a huge flashing LED?!?? It never fails. Some of them even go <¡beep!> <¡beep!><¡beep!> fer gossake!

That was a bit better than the pilot I thought, the characters seem more real and its trying to go for something a bit more artsy in its cinematography and direction. Clarice was also a lot tougher while actually in the field and the follow up from last week was handled alright. Even her boss was less one dimensional, possibly because the AG took the role of Authority Figure Who Wants Results.

Interesting that they are holding back on the poetic serial killers for now, guess that will be saved up for later. I also keep forgetting that this show is set in the 90s, I guess the lack of 90s soundtrack and plaid is throwing me off.

Nirvana was barely out of their Seattle garage when these event "happened".  Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul were burning up the FM radio.
