I enjoyed this and I think this show might gel together, but I was super disappointed they weren't going for a secretly gay storyline with Eric and his brother in law. I'm also confused by the Mark/ComaJason storyline- what was even the point of the scene in the pilot where he takes the saliva from Actual Jason if Jason isn't actually the son and Mark knows that? Is Jason supposed to actually be the son but he's just adopted and the mom we see didn't have the affair?

Okay, second episode was not better than the first. Disappointed.  There are good elements here, but it was a bit too frenetic to me and maybe they are rushing because they fear they won't be given the time to build the storylines.

I don't get the old lady in the swamp. Who is she supposed to be? Real? Some angel?

ComaJason, far as I can tell, is the real son  who was adopted, and tracked down when the will got read. Apparently the dad kept track of him. But since he was in a near fatal car accident, (which must have been after the plane accident, maybe, because whoever is tracking the kids was unaware of it) his adopted brother decided to try for the money to help out the family.

Loads of plot holes in that storyline, but whatever.

I may not have the patience to see if the show develops into anything worth  my time.

Huh. I actually liked the second episode more.

I thought Ginger and the Reverand had some sparkling chemistry.  It'll make it a disappointment when the secret gay plot ends up being him (if there is one).

Corey Cott not being secretly gay was a massive disappointment to me. He and that brother in law really have off a vibe.

I know.  Having the son be into the cam girl felt so 80s.

At least Eugene isn't going to be stuck in some Misery plot as I had feared.  The old woman is either a fan (which, how?  I don't think she gets cable out in the swamp) or she's part of the plot by whoever brought the plane down.

Yeah. I don't hate it or anything but mostly I spent this episode waiting for it to end. It's not a bad show but it's not really grabbing me either. There's just such a lack of new content right now I'm giving it more of a try than I would normally.

I'll give the show props for not dragging things out.  I never imagined that Eugene would make it back to civilization and the coma brother plot would be exposed by the second episode.  So, good job, I guess.

Yeah, that's all I've got.

I still loved it lol. It's just mindless fun to me, which I enjoy.

I'm SO glad they had Rose find out about JasonMark so early. Now I can fully enjoy shipping them!

They continue to surprise me honestly. I was especially surprised that Eugene is already away from weird swamp lady. I'm interested to see where that goes.

I was also shocked that the son isn't gay and that he and the reverend aren't secretly together. The son being into the cam girl is kinda whatever but I am with @Door County Cherry on seeing some chem with the reverend and Ginger so I hope he isn't still be revealed as secretly gay.

I was confused by everything to do with the illegitimate son that has a baby. Is that his mom? At first I thought it was the baby's mom lol. I suspect the baby's mom will appear eventually. Also, that baby is adorable.

I really enjoyed this episode.  I am very interested in what will happen with undead Gerald McRaney's character.  Will he go immediately back or will he try to find new purpose/direction?  I am also interested in how the pastor got so much power within the t.v. network/dynasty.  I am here for the duration!

At the end of Olivia Macklin's voiceover opening of the post-pilot episodes, I can't help but say to myself, "and that's what you missed on Glee!"

The tone of that opening is great and where this show needs to be. It's a let down for me from that point on. It's almost as if when they put these lead-ins together they had figured out what's missing.

Spoiler

and I've seen episode 3 and the same opinion applies

All your points are great!

I'm loving it too in an over the top 80's soap opera kind of way - which isn't said as a bad thing, I guess sometimes it's fun to watch people being bad.

I like Rose and Jason Mark too.  She seems like the most innocent of the bunch, certainly not as plotting as her Mother but I'm wondering how can these two get together and keep the secret of the real Jason.  If they keep up the ruse it's incest to the rest of the world, if they reveal they're not related they give up the inheritance.

Also very interested to see where Eugene goes after he leaves the swamp, who he interacts with and for how long.  Eventually he has to run into someone that recognizes him and make his way back to his family.  Have to admit I am living for the episode when he makes his appearance and they all find out he's alive.   I think that's what makes me want to keep watching, plots like Rose and Eugene making me curious and waiting for/wanting to see the big payoff.

As for Eric being gay or not - I don't think that's fully off the table yet.  His big secret could be just that he's into the cam girls and virtually cheating on his wife but they could go with him using that to "fix" himself.  Sort of a home version of conversion therapy where we find out he's been using porn to force himself to be more attracted to females and suppress any attraction to males.  Maybe not, maybe it'll just be the standard guy with a wandering eye story but him also being gay would make a fun sort of twist on the twist.

Definitely going to keep watching and see where this fun bit of escapism goes.

They'll just be together in secret. Secret relationships are my jam lol.

Ooh, I can see that. I hope they go that way instead of the standard story.
