Jane the Virgin and Gina Rodriguez were both just nominated at the Golden Globes. I believe this is the first CW show to earn any nominations there.

Television Vs. Book: Why'd They Make [Spoiler] Such A [Spoiler]?
SeanC replied to yellowfred's topic in Game Of Thrones
I'm quite dubious of that. It simply doesn't make sense for that to be happening at that time, quite apart from whether it makes sense on a character level. -
I always wanted to see Mercedes and Santana sing something by the Pointer Sisters.
-
I can see your position on Kurt (though given Ryan's past statements about Kurt getting married by a certain age, he seems to have thought otherwise), but Santana was hyper-fixated on Brittany; it doesn't really strike me as that unusual she'd want to marry her if she felt she was in a position to.

The kids didn't screw up. Gene screwed up. Tina and Louise were competent.
-
I think that's a fairly sophisticated explanation, but there's a simpler one, and one that's common to many TV shows with similar settings: Glee wants its characters' high school romances to really matter, so they have to last, even though for most people they don't. Rachel and Finn, to cite the most obvious example (though one that obviously won't be working out due to intervening considerations). Also, while Burt was always blue collar, money was never a problem for him, even in the first season -- he bought his son an SUV.
-
I think that once the cast graduated the writers started functionally treating them like the characters are closer to the age of the actors who play them.
-
When Jimmy Pesto and Chuck both showed up I got unpleasant flashbacks to "Family Fracas", but while the family lost the formal contest this time, the ending struck the balance between achievement and failure much better (it helps a lot, of course, that the guy they lost to this time is actually a pleasant and competent fellow).

Plot twist: Jane realizes that Sin Rostro is her Tyler Durden-style alter ego. I was going to say that under Canadian law you'd be slapped with a wrongful termination suit to go along with Jane's already big medical malpractice payday, but this is America, so somehow I fear you can fire someone because they're dating your son.
-
Eh, I think anyone would be suspicious of a mysterious Eastern European woman with scars on her face who talks about killing people. I mean, if you look at people trying to guess Sin Rostro's identity in the fandom, Magda is far and away the #1 choice, and I doubt the writers could be ignorant that people would see that.
-
Regarding the identity of Sin Rostro, a lot of people have guessed Magda, which seems like a decent bet, though the obvious one. My main hesitation on that score is that it kind of feels to me like the Sin Rostro plotline really should start connecting more to Jane than has been the case so far (it's kind of off in its own little corner, especially now that Jane's not engaged to Michael). The suggestion that it's Rafael's dad, for instance, would move it marginally more into Jane's orbit.
-
I also thought that a lot of the fuss about Jane being out all night played like she was a teenager, but that kind of makes sense to me, given that you've got basically two straight generations here who never moved out of their parents' house, and Alma, since it's her house (and given Xo's un-lucrative-looking career to date, I'm guessing it's grandma who's historically paying most of the bills), to a great extent calls the tune (which is fairly old-fashioned). Xo also acts, Lorelai Gilmore-style, as much as her daughter's best friend as she is her mom (as in, for instance, the flashback that opens this episode, where Jane is gushing about the magical kiss, etc.). Which, incidentally, also means that Jane's supposed best friend Lina and her other semi-interchangeable work friends still feel largely superfluous to this story.

I recently found that the theme song for Rogelio's show The Passions of Santos is actually ("Una Flor") by Juanes.

We don't know what information Ned gave Stannis in that regard, just that he said he was illegitimate. That said, yeah, Shireen being blonde is a weird detail that you would think could have been avoided. -
When Randy seemed to cut off his own penis, I initially thought it was real and there was going to be a "Randy accidentally cuts off his own dick" subplot.

Stannis wasn't involved in the show version of events. Jon Arryn was working solo, and Stannis learned of it only through Ned's message (which got through in the TV show, unlike in the book). -

That article cites no sources, so I don't think there's anything to it. -
They said he had gout last season. Siddig is Anglo-Sudanese.

Yeah, the people who know/suspect don't generally appear to have done so based on their public behaviour; I think only Tyrion may have guessed based on that, but he's far closer to Jaime than most, very intelligent, and not inclined to be blind on that score. Varys presumably knows because he's got his agents hidden in the walls listening to them bone. Stannis suspected it based on hair colour, and relayed that suspicion to Jon Arryn and Ned for further investigation based on various objective factors around genetics, etc., before broadcasting the rumour throughout the Seven Kingdoms, which is how Olenna heard about it. We don't really know how Littlefinger heard about it; he may have guessed beforehand, or he may have just be apprised of Arryn's investigation and made his own evaluation. -

He does think Tyrion is a fool (hence, the prostitutes, among other things). Moreover, Tyrion has a temper. There's no reason to think Tywin doesn't believe Tyrion did it; if he thought otherwise, he'd be investigating for who actually did it. -
Santana and Brittany aren't in Lima (as far as we know). Seeing Ivonne Coll play the grandmother on Jane the Virgin just rubs in how terrible the writers were at writing the family dynamic for Santana's story.

On the basis of what? He looks guilty, and Tywin is always ready to believe the worst about him. -
The Winds Of Winter: Book 6 Will Arrive...Someday

If you mean the Amazon reviews, there's a fairly dedicated group of people who dislike GRRM's co-writers. I mean, obviously it's an encyclopedia; that's the whole point; but as far as "fanfic" goes, I don't really get that criticism. It feels quite authentic to me. -
The waitress played by the OITNB actress is named "Lina" according to the IMDb.
