  1. I might be remembering incorrectly, but was it mentioned at some point that Beverly made more money than her anthropologist husband and that was part of the emasculation her suffered from her? Leonard was comfortable with Penny making more because that was the example he saw at home growing up. Although, it could very well be the standard Chuck Lorre "women as the worst" trope. When will he get over that?!
  2. Sad to hear the show was eventually cancelled. I started to enjoy it once they were doing the live shows. The cast seemed like they were enjoying themselves which added to the fun of the episodes. It was a pleasant way to wind down the week. Feels like a few of the shows the networks canceled this year would have done better on cable/streaming channels. Networks really should be the last resort/stop for show runners.
  3. I agree wholeheartedly about this. Even if the writers do a better job of writing them as a couple the second time around, I have no interest in seeing that. I really like Nick and tolerate Jess, but I'd like them to be happy just with other people. The show has done a decent job, to varying degrees of success, of integrating non-house members as love interests. They can do the same for Nick and Jess. Why can't they just have a strong affection for each, a closeness that is loving but not "in love", and not be couple? Please TV gods, I don't ask for much! Well, I might have unwisely used all my prayers hoping for Sleepy Hollow to be canceled (it wasn't!) and I'm out of credits. Sigh.
  4. What in the world was that? I mean seriously. I don't even know what I watched. It went by so fast. Season finale? If they say so. This doesn't bode well for the many, MANY seasons to come.
  5. I honestly couldn't believe that they did a "whoops we're having a baby" move.I have sincerely come to hate these story lines.I *know* it happens in real life, even if someone is a doctor, but I still don't have to like it! Although Dre & Bow watching the kids have a pillow fight in their sick fort, made me smile. Plus as the oldest of 5 kids, it's an amazing experience having 4 other souls who love me, accept me and totally, totally get me! We still think our parents are crazy for having 5 kids, but they say it didn't cost as much then! On this show though, money is not an issue so that won't come up. Ruby and Bow bonding was good. Finally something nice between them.
  6. I agree about having only 6 episodes. Although I like the British model of fewer episodes, but 6! Come on! Maybe 8 or 10.
  7. It does seem odd that Beverly shows up this much to see a son she clearly has no love/affection for, she hasn't had her quota of emotional abuse? The part I did like was when Penny hugged her on the couch. That was kinda cute.Although, yeah Penny should have thrown her out. I have ZERO tolerance for people openly disrespecting me. The guys plot line was ok. Sheldon as per usual is an exhausting PITA. How long was that episode?
  8. Were these episodes filmed after they found out they were canceled? I can see them deciding that Mike/Molly would become parents and maybe move out. I suppose if they are going the baby route, this is a nice way to do it. No long pregnancy to watch and they will just get a baby! But seriously just deciding to adopt a baby impulsively without talking to your husband or anyone else it would impact, is quite the sitcom conceit. I hope that if they are trying to tie things up, the rest of the cast gets some "happy" endings as well. I don't care if Carl has a relationship, I'd just like him to be less desperate and needy. Oh and obnoxious. Vince and Joyce seem like they are fine. Victoria...maybe she gives up smoking everyday?
  9. Missed last night cause I watched Game of Thrones. If this is up against Game of Thrones, the show is not going to last much longer. Not that the writing has done it any favors. Totally squandered it's potential.
  10. I loved the fact that Prince just loved the show and wanted to see if he could be a part of it. #RIP Prince.
  11. Raj is just a disgusting tool. I can not stand him. The idea of him dating anyone, let alone 2 people is beyond stupid. I was annoyed with the rest of the group when he brought it up. He can't ever be chill...either he's aggressively whining about not dating or he's aggressively whining about how he's dating so many people. Shut up you ass. I'm over Sheldon and his stupid agreements. Yet I’m more annoyed that the rest of them even entertain the idea. I also don’t understand this living arrangement...how old are these people? I agree with other posters who have said the writers or the actors need to pay attention to the character histories. Howard has allergic reaction to nuts? 5 year olds with allergies never walk around without an EpiPen but this guy? Eye roll. Why do I watch? I can't recall if I laughed so I'm guessing I didn’t and I needed to laugh tonight…. #RIP Prince
  12. Yea. I was thinking that the whole time as well. I hated it when Josh was bad mouthing Greg to Rebecca. That's a totally shitty move no matter what Josh actually thinks about Greg. Absolutely agree about how could Greg ever believe what she says to him in the future, how does he forgive his "best" friend for doing this behind his back? I know it's supposed to be romantic but I was disgusted, a sign of me getting older cause that will not end well. Greg was a jerk at the wedding and she should have done a better job of asking him WTF his problem was rather than trying to be a pretty, pretty princess. Josh's face when Rebecca when she said I moved here for you....I laughed, not cause I thought it was funny but I was thinking serves you right, you have no idea who she is, just the idea of her. But more importantly, he likes that she makes him feel special. I just started watching cause the name of the show put me off initially, but I have been telling everyone how good it is! Season 2 better not let me down! Everyone needs to get over Josh.
  13. All the characters EXCEPT for Jess are great. I would never have thought that CeCe would have become a favorite but she's learned to play off the guys so well and her reactions are priceless. Winston is gold! Once they figured out what to do with him, he has not looked back. He is often the brightest spot in the episodes. His whole "friend face/cop face" slayed me. Nick/Schmidt are perfect together. I loved the bar plot. Then we get to Jess. Awful. I was never a huge fan but she was ok as long as she was playing off the group. The break we got from her really revealed how she's not integral to the story. She was stalking Sam, it was not amusing, cute or adorable. She is dangerous. He is an idiot.
  14. It's funny because as our technology becomes so much better, the things that seemed so cool and advanced in TNG will become increasingly old fashioned and dated. It's especially true when my phone can do so many things that the Enterprise could do! Of course, TNG and Star Trek, in general, did inspire many of us to try to create these devices in real life. But some of the tech-related issues they had, now seem like they could have been fixed so simply. The transporter, now that one, would be fantastic! Maybe one day, although the idea of it is still pretty crazy to me!
  15. Thank you! Exactly what I was going to say! I think what is bothering me about the show is that is seems they are trying to do too much yet they don’t actually get any point across. Like last night was a mess and I don't know what their point was. The other thing that has started to make me nuts is that Jerrod “acts” with his arms. He’s always flapping them around, I just don’t think he knows what to do with them. His arms should get an acting credit. His arms, like Jerrod, are ALSO terrible actors. So stiff. I'm also asking why do I continue to watch?
  16. I'm going to try again with the show tonight...we'll see...
  17. The way TV depicts finances makes me crazy. It's often so unrealistic that I wonder do these writers not have access to the internet and can do a modicum of research? Do they not have non-writer friends or family who might be able to say hey, that's really not how much money a local AM-radio talk show host would make (I'm looking at you Frasier). In my TV watching history, I think Roseanne probably did the best at showing a more realistic representation of finances, until they blew it up and had them win the lottery. In general, I think that the writers just don't care whether it's realistic or not, as long as it serves their need for a particular story.
  18. I certainly was one who was against having Amy/Sheldon finally sleep together, cause I thought our beloved writers wouldn't handle it well. I'm surprised now that they might have actually done a good job with it. The pressure is off. Amy, particularly, doesn't feel like she's missing out on anything anymore and that she's not in a "real" relationship. Sheldon, I guess, doesn't feel hounded and irritated. It's a relief to watch. If they can continue to enjoy each other's company it'll be nice to watch. Leonard probably feels the need to keep some money separate from Penny, whether or not she has any debt. He's seen the way she spent money when she wasn't working, he knows how she spent HIS money over time, even if he was ok with at the time and I'd want to keep a small separate stash too. He's thinking long-term. Maybe them having an actual talk about money that doesn't include Penny stating I make so much more money than you every time it comes up. Raj is the total weirdo now. I hope the actor is happy with that as his role.
  19. I'm also not enjoying the show as much as last season. I'm also getting really uncomfortable with how much personal information Jerrod/Maxine keep sharing with his family. I get it that to make the show work, we need for them to be thrown together each week. I just find it...unsettling. Jerrod is absolutely the weakest of weak links. Maxine (don't know the name of the actress) is ok. Jerrod's family is what holds it together. DAG and LD are hilarious, even though I wanted to knock her out this week! At least she rehearsed and delivered her apology well! I don't know how much longer I'll in watching either. It's like it's overly preachy and also not handling the messages well at the same time, it's just weird. It needs to get really funny and soon.
  20. That's what really frightens me in all this, not just with Trump but in general. Facts don't work and simply quoting Trump completely and IN CONTEXT still doesn't work. It's like they will only believe what they want to believe and everything else is just the media being mean to poor old Donnie or some plot! The same media that doesn't push him, covers him incessantly and essentially kisses his butt. Yup that very very "liberal" media. I was going to try to make a point about how I could maybe see their side, then I realized I couldn't do it. Facts and logic make them triple down on their support and their hatred of the "others". It's astonishing and mind blowing, and so sad. For all the years I've heard that Obama was Hitler, the irony is thick. #ThanksTrump
  21. I give her mad credit for being as kind to those Trump supporters as she was. I wanted to put my head through the wall with all the double talk lack of reasoning and BS they were spewing. They sincerely believe in this guy who has proven nothing in his life and said nothing but offensive and disturbing mambo jumbo. When she asked the young black man if he thought Trump was a racist and he couldn't even answer for fear of being struck dead by lightening, I was stunned into silence. You think he's racist but what???? Oy. The blonde was dumb..."they will just pay for it :-)" That other guy was "passionate". Yup that's the word. Passionate. "Why am I being PERSECUTED!" (best clip ever). Trump or Cruz? What is HAPPENING here? Head. Desk. Wall.
  22. Seriously. Just ugh. I do not want to see a baby on this show, but then again the writers do NOT seem to be listening to me AT ALL! Raj is an idiot. Amy/Sheldon were actually amusing, go figure! Penny/Leonard were uninteresting per usual. Bernadette/Howard, just ugh!
  23. Nope. Just Nope. NOPE!
  24. I believe that the New York Times was doing a profile or did a profile on him and they questioned the fact about him working at Merrill Lynch in the WTC. Merrill Lynch was not located in the WTC, ever. I don't know how he managed to have noone notice that piece of the story at the time or since. Marc wouldn't know what companies were or were not in the WTC, so he wouldn't have known to confirm or double check. He took him at face value, cause who'd lie about something like that. I agree with the fact that him being in the vicinity at the time would have been enough; the embellishment is so wrong. He was about to have a comedy special air on Comedy Central which probably will never see the light of day now.
  25. My BF & I binged the show over the July 4th weekend. We totally loved it! I plan on watching it again this weekend while he's out with his friends (don't tell him!). It was so nice to see a real couple who were learning how to relate to each other with minimal amounts of drama. My BF did say at one point, that Rob was making it really hard for all men out there! The show is well-written, well-acted, funny, witty, and clever. There were so many great lines that we are already quoting to each other, which has only upped the "lord, they are so weird together" with our friends! I've followed Rob on Twitter forever so I was already familiar with him and I love his sense of humor. Sharon is new to me, but I love her. I plan to look up her other work. I both loved and hated that we only had 6 episodes. Obviously, I want more and more, it's SO good! But I know you can't maintain excellent quality over hundreds of episodes. Can not wait for season 2! Yea, I did also say what the f is she wearing when she showed up at the wedding! lol. Don't know where this goes in the thread but I saw this really interesting interview with Rob & Sharon: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/27/catastrophe-rob-delaney-sharon-horgan-amazon
