Reading the synopsis of the show though, it sounds like it would have been more relevant at least a few decades earlier, than it would have been in 2000. The fact that the series didn't make it through the second season may also point to Heather since she was the lead character. Obviously the big names weren't enough to bring the viewers long term.
In any case, I am not buying that she gave up some great career for her family. Several years ago on the show she was doing her best to get back into acting, and the storyline was that Terry was not happy that she wasn't home 24/7 as she was travelling back and forth to LA. Then there was the guest appearance on an episode of Hot in Cleveland. You'd think she had been cast as a series regular.
Heather has also claimed that it was Terry that wanted her to do RHOC, that she wasn't interested. I believe that they both wanted it, as they love attention. I do find it funny that Heather is basically humble (if that is possible with Heather) bragging that she gave up her career for her family, but then drags her kids on this show.
Does anyone else find Jenn 2.0's Ryan a turn off? He always looks like he needs a shower and a shave. Some guys can do a nice beard, he isn't one. I don't understand why she thinks she has such a prize? Do women really think bagging a serial cheater is an accomplishment? Yikes.

Ya, their relationship is a head scratcher for sure. I agree with your assessment that Chelsea is drop dead gorgeous, and mediocre is a great description of Austin. (And I only remember his name at the moment because I posted about them previously -lol). They have zero chemistry. I still maintain that she would have dropped Austin had Josh been receptive to spending more time together. Since he wasn't, she figured Austin was the best she could do (at least on the show) and walked back everything she said about red flags.
Couples are all over the place though. They are all celebrating Austin asking Chelsea to be his GF. I thought she already was, at least for the time they are going to be on the show. Certainly don't see them lasting IRL. Then Garrett's squeeze (don't remember her name) says she thinks of him as husband material. He definitely had a deer in the headlights look on his face when she said that, but recovered. I am sure the recovery was producer driven.
I also don't get two guys vying for Ana. She is the female version of Austin for me. But then I also didn't get why two guys were interested in Lisa at the same time. I also think that was producer driven. Guess I am just jaded, but for the most part they could put all the names in a hat and draw out pairs, and it would make just as much sense.

Hmmm, so anyone watch last night's epi?
Joey made it sound when he was talking to Tessa that he laid the law down regarding boundaries to Maria. But from what we saw of his talk with Maria, that wasn't the case at all. And if he was really falling in love with Tessa, wouldn't he have told Maria himself that her touching his knee (for quite a while from what I remember) was not appropriate? Nope, not Joey.
I think Joey also made a Freudian slip when he said that he would see Josh back for season three. Sounded like he figured he would be there too.
Unless they edited out part of the convo, I didn't understand why Maria was so devastated that Josh wanted to leave, and wanted her to leave as well. It seems like he made it clear that he was leaving regardless, though they didn't show us that. Maria could have saved face and made it look like they were leaving together to pursue their relationship outside of paradise, but she didn't. Why she still wanted to stay even with Josh is beyond me. Oh, and Josh's version of "defending" Maria to the girls was pretty weak, including the thumbs up to them as he left.
The roast was pretty lame (had no idea who the host was), but I did think that Conner and Chelsea had way more chemistry with each other while writing and performing their roast than either has with their supposed partners. I don't see any of these current couples lasting much longer than a month or two after paradise.

Were criminal records readily available online in 1998? And I don't think Bobby Joe's record at that time was anything that would warrant being able to find online. The case that was very similar to Andrea's was a rape and attempted murder of a 13 year old girl, and it happened a year after Andrea's murder, in 1999. Bobby Joe was apparently surprised that the girl survived as he thought she was dead when he left her.
What would make Chris think that Bobby Joe was capable of murder? He never met him, and Andrea liked him enough to give him a computer, and invite him back to her apartment. Kevin said that Andrea wasn't a trusting person and that was out of the ordinary for her. So what would make Chris think "I bet this guy that Andrea has just met and seems to like, would be a good guy for me to phone up and see if he would like to murder her"?
Another thing that makes no sense in Bobby Joe's story is that Chris only called him the day before he supposedly wanted Andrea killed. So Chris calls Bobby out of the blue, says he wants the very nice lady who gave Bobby a computer killed the next day, and he'd leave the money in a closet. Bobby's reaction is "Sure bro, good to go", to paraphrase. Suuurrree.
I don't think the jury had much to discuss. They had the trial time to take all the "evidence' in, and obviously didn't think there was any.

I read somewhere that Chris and Andrea kept their finances separate. Chris owned the beach house, and Andrea contributed to it via sweat equity as they worked on it most weekends. There was some discrepancy as to whether she contributed money as well. Chris paid Andrea money towards the mortgage on the apartment which was in Andrea's name.
Didn't Kevin only turn on Chris after Bobby came out with the murder for hire story? He praised Chris for how he treated Kevin, and felt quite close to him. Though they drifted apart, as far as I know from both shows Kevin was not suspicious of Chris until police told him of the murder for hire story. Chris was suspicious right away that Kevin was wearing a wire as it had been years since he had seen him, and Kevin had never before accused Chris of being involved in his mother's murder. Likewise, he was suspicious that years later two different people would claim that they were there to collect money on behalf of Bobby. The officers in both of those cases were keystone cops.

Though I think Bobby acted alone, if he was hired by anyone I would put money on the ex, who had the motive. I don't think that is what happened, but it makes as much or more sense that Chris.
The ex may also though just have not liked how the case consumed his son. When Kevin said that he wanted to be remembered as someone who didn't give up, Josh said I think you already are. I don't think Josh meant it as a compliment. Personally I found the son a little "off".

The beach house was featured in the 20/20 episode. Chris and his wife (who have been together for 23 years now) finished it. Not sure if they still have it as they live in a different state I believe.

Again, why would Chris think that Bobby would not come after him for the money? Bobby didn't because Chris had nothing to do with the murder.
I also saw the 20/20 version of this story, and came away with the same conclusion.
As I often do, I googled the case to see if there was info I was missing. One thing that was interesting was that I came across a site where Andrea's son was posting. It was after the 20/20 version, and he said that he was not interviewed by 20/20 because he was going to be interviewed by another show (obviously Dateline). He also said he would share info that pointed to Chris's guilt. Still waiting for that, Andrea's son did nothing to change my mind.
Edited to add: I also read that all of the jurors but one felt right away that Chris was not guilty (and that the case should never have been brought to trial). The verdict took an hour as discussion was held due to the one juror who was uncertain, and who after an hour decided as well that Chris was not guilty.

There wasn't a coin collection. It was a roll of quarters and a jar of coins that Bobby took. He would have been lucky if the total amounted to even a $100. Same with purses. He was likely hoping there might be some money in them, but I doubt Andrea was buying designer type purses.
As far as Chris not paying Bobby, why would Chris not be afraid that Bobby would return and exact revenge on being double crossed? He obviously had no problem killing a woman who was nothing but nice to him.

I totally think Chris is innocent, and that the jury got it right. I think that for a few reasons.
First of all, the interrogation where police were able to convince Chris that he did it, by lying that they found his fingerprints on Andrea. If he had hired Bobby Joe to kill Andrea, he would know the police were lying and simply say that he had nothing to do with it. We have certainly seem enough false confessions made by innocent people who are bamboozled by lying/underhanded police.
What would make Chris think that Bobby Joe, someone he had never met, be capable of killing Andrea? And why would Bobby Joe not want to meet the person who has hired him, and at least get some money up front? And of course his ex wife testified that they didn't have caller ID, showing that Bobby was lying about recognizing the phone number as the same one Andrea called from.
The most preposterous lie to be was that Chris said he would leave the $5,000 in the closet. Which closet- there had to be at least two others in the apartment. And if he specified in the bedroom closet, where? In an shoe? In a jacket pocket? Pants pocket? Shoebox? It would be like finding Waldo. What would stop Andrea from coming across it before Bobby showed up to kill her?
There was no evidence that Chris made any payment to Bobby. Chris also had no reason to know that Bobby was in jail for a short time just after Andrea was killed. Why would Chris double cross Bobby, and then not worry that someone who killed a lady nice enough to give him a computer, not also come back and kill him for double crossing him?
I would have come back with the same verdict that the jury did. I hope Chris is successful in suing, as I don't see how the case ever made it to trial.

Tamra was brought back to save this franchise? If I were to look up what 'circling the drain' means, I am sure I'd see a picture of Tammy Sue.
The episode was so boring that I was reduced to studying the horrific extensions of Tamra, Jenn and Shannon. They so resemble rats nests, that I was expecting vermin crawl out of one, or all, at any moment. Sadly the vermin watch was more entertaining than the episode.
When the first epi aired, I was trying to figure out who the two guys were in Tamra's tagline. I figured the shorter one must be Eddie though it didn't really look like him. The other guy I figured must be Tamra's mother's boyfriend. Imagine my surprise when I finally figured out that the cowboy in the tagline is Ryan. Lol. And yikes!

I had to rewind because I thought I misheard when Eddie said that David was the best thing about Shannon (to paraphrase - can't remember the exact words). WTF??? I also had to rewind when Tamra said that she had to hide from Eddie that she was taking food to Simon when he was going through cancer treatments. Again, WTF?
I would think Tamra and David's kids appreciated their mother supporting their father during that time. Simon seems like if nothing else he is a good dad. Apparently Eddie couldn't put his step kids first, but rather was too insecure to get on board? What a tool he has turned out to be.

Well, **** a duck.
Why was Tamra brought back? She is just as boring, narcissistic and hypocritical as she has ever been. But if we are going to see a season of drunken Tamra accusing sober Shannon of being a drunk, I guess I am here for it.
I actually liked Fancy Pants in this episode. First of all, she was the only one sensible enough to wear sneakers on the boat. Points for that, and for giving Gina a dig about having to wear pink. I hate pink, and own nothing in that colour. The third point FP gets from me is the pure look of mirth she gave Tamra as Tammy Sue went cray-cray on the boat.
I did love Shannon being more interested in whether John's son was on another boat, than Jenn's story about how she came to adopt her youngest son. Personally, I was more interested in who was on the other boat too. Or anything else for that matter. I ff'd past Jenn's family scenes as this franchise already has way too many kids on it.
I didn't get an Archie sighting, but did get a Shane sighting which is almost as good. His comment when Emily wondered if she was pregnant about who would be the father, and he hoped the guy was rich, cracked me up. More Shane, less Jenn and Tamra please. Oh, and props to Shane's wife for trying to be the voice of reason with Tamra. Though it is a waste of time, as narcissists never take responsibility for....well....anything.

So, Austin and Chelsea have been together since day one. They went to the boom boom room (has the franchise always had this childish name for spending the night together and I just missed it?). Then Chelsea goes on a date with Josh where they give each other butt massages, and of course, make out. Austin is not happy about it. Chelsea thinks he is overreacting, and sees "red flags". But when she wants to spend more time with Josh and he resists, suddenly the red flags are gone, and she is into Austin again. Am I the only one who thinks had Josh been receptive to spending more time with Chelsea, Austin would have been toast?
Honestly, the kissing on this season is nauseating. I don't need to see someone's entire tongue before it is shoved down someone else's throat. Production should invest in someone to give lessons on how to kiss on camera. It doesn't look hot, or romantic, or sexy. No chemistry whatsoever for the most part. Like spin the bottle, but with tongues.

No more than 3 minutes into tonight's episode, "Bad Intentions" (Texas DA gunned down on the sidewalk), I knew I'd seen this already. I did a search in this thread and I found they had explored this case back in 2015. Stop the madness.
If I have seen this story before, I have forgotten it. But within the first few seconds Dateline made it clear that it was a story they previously had covered. Lester Holt talked about the startling new allegations (those made by the ex wife who was interviewed) and went on to say "Be there as a new chapter unfolds....". So while I do agree that at times Dateline is not clear that they are revisiting a case, I don't think that is true with this one.
But as far as the case goes....yikes. Hard to believe that the murdering ex judge would not have figured out that he would be a suspect if he kept on killing. The DA already suspected him, but I wonder if it is possible if he would have gotten away with it if he had stopped at one murder. But it seems like these delusional maniacs always think they are too smart to get caught. But in the end it was both carelessness and good old video cameras that did him in.
How sweet that the daughter of the murdered wife, and son of the couple's friends ended up together. But such a sad case.

I kept thinking that as I was watching. Wasn't she the one who kept having melt downs in the last season.
Also not getting the Joey love. He's OK, but it is like his storyline this season is to be the guy all the girls want.
I am a casual watcher of this franchise, but honestly this season I am bored to death with what appears to be scripted couplings and un couplings. Yawn.

Well, that was boring.
When they showed Heather pushing Terry in the wheelchair, I did not recognize him. My first thought was "Gene Simmons cut his hair?" and then "Why is Gene Simmons on RHOC?" Terry looks like death warmed over. And I didn't realize how tiny his feet are, until Heather was giving him a foot rub. Or Heather's hands are huge. Not sure which. Maybe both.
The only good thing about having Tamra back is that she doesn't have kids. Gina's annoying kids and Emily's obnoxious kids are more than enough. New girl Jenn's six (I think, I lost count) kids are six strikes against her. Even her pets don't win her points, as she rattled them off as if they are possessions rather than members of the family. So far, not impressed.
I used to like Eddie, but being around Tamra all these years was bound to rub off on him.
The only good thing about the whole episode was the Archie sighting.

It has been difficult watching the Masters tournament since learning of Mattea's father's passing. Seeing how happy they have been during the tapings, and knowing the horrific loss they would soon experience has been heartbreaking.
I lost my father when I was a dozen years older than Mattea, and my father was a decade older than Mattea's dad. I too was the only girl in the family, and extremely close to my dad. It has been many years since my dad passed, and I still feel the loss deeply. I can only hope that the closeness of family and friends help Mattea cope, as it did me.
I understand Mattea's difficulty in having their father's death made main stream news. But, at least in Canada, Mattea is much loved and respected. Their father (and mother) raised a very special person.

He does this a lot when Greg is asking for something and is still trying to edit himself while speaking, to reword and "soften" whatever the request is.
This is why Greg is, and always has been, my favourite character in this series. Braun is brilliant in the role, and really deserves to finally win an Emmy for his portrayal.

Their granddaughter is now 25 years old, having been born in January of 1998. Unless you meant continued to have rights, rather than continue. I hope they continued to have rights as well while their granddaughter was a minor.

I checked his obit and he was 21 at time of death. Turned 21 in March and murdered in August of 1997.
It wasn’t clear what happened to the grandchild. Amy, though she was treated improperly by a grown man, sounds like a scary person. Immaturity may have been a factor, but she does seem unfeeling and dangerous. Likely, a personality disorder. Ricky seemed clueless too. Ricky’s parents seemed normal….just a messed up situation.
It was discussed in the episode that Ricky turned 21 in March, a couple of months after he and Amy started dating. His mother talked about the celebration Ricky had with family and friends in Las Vegas, and that 16 year old Amy managed to go there uninvited as well. Ricky's mother said that they didn't see her in Vegas, but knew she was there.
I don't see Ricky at all as a grown man treating Amy improperly. He was obviously a very immature 20-21 year old who was treated improperly by Amy and her friends. They used him for whatever they could get from him. Amy was manipulative from the start. I wonder if Amy got pregnant on purpose, and then decided to do away with Ricky for life insurance, when she realized that he was not going to stay with her because she was pregnant.
I think it is quite possible that Amy, if not convicted, could have gone on to be like Sara, the woman in last weekend's episode who got away with murder seemingly a few times before she was finally brought to justice.
I wonder why the grandchild was never discussed? She would have been 10 I believe when Amy was convicted, but would be 25 now. I assume maybe she herself did not want the particulars of who raised her to be mentioned? In any case I hope she has a relationship with her father's family.
As an aside, I was surprised that the age of consent in California is 18. It differs from state to state, but in many it appears to be 16. Where I live, in Canada, the age of consent is 16.

While I liked Iain Armitage's portrayal of Sheldon in the earlier seasons, it has become progressively more wooden as the series continues. I think it is a combination of the storylines (agree that they don't know what to do with him) and the actor himself. When I watch the show, I am usually annoyed when Sheldon is on the screen, and find the interactions with Dr. Linkletter et al a waste of precious time that I would prefer be given to pretty much any other character/combination of characters on the show.

Yes, his story was so ridiculous. He made his wife go first because he was trying to prod her along, but had no idea if the "intruder" was going to break through the front door with a gun himself, and shoot the first person he saw. The wife. But of course hubby wasn't worried, because there was no intruder.
I thought the motive was going to be a life insurance policy that would get the hubby out of debt, but that doesn't even seem to be the case. So he kills her because she might leave him when she finds out they are going to lose their house?
He did really plan it out, as far as trying to pin it on the guy who had committed burglaries before in the area. Thank goodness that poor guy was already in jail, or there is a good chance the keystone cops would have arrested him. But hubby messed up when he had his wife call 911, then shot her, then himself. No sound or evidence of the intruder.
I agree that it should not have taken all those years to bring him to justice.

The problem is, Heather has already done that assignment. Several years ago she tried to get back into acting, and Terry's part was that he was not happy that Heather was not home 24/7. We have also had a guest part in one episode of Hot in Cleveland be Heather's storyline. Then there is the stuff she was shilling on a shopping channel, and even a year that she was going to open a restaurant with some partners. Not sure what happened there. In any case, most of Heather's seasons have had Heather do pretty much anything but put herself on hold to be a SAHM.
