  1. To be honest, I'm not sure where the story takes place. Eh, I'll correct it if needed. If you see OPM articles, post them here. For instance, here's a quick piece from Comcs Alliance.

I wonder how many Springstein references the New York tabloids will use for the Mets' acquisition of Jay Bruce.
  3. After reading reactions from an Instagram post, I'm hoping Sarah gets hit with bags of weak tea at the Reunion. And that the audience chucks rocks at Johnny. A guy can dream, right?
  4. This week: more ninja Skypeing with the Akatsuki. Two Leaf squads take off to "detain" Itachi. And the Hebe gang stock up on provisions. I took out a sourcebook from the library a few times, so I knew about the ninja cats and Cat Granny. Still funny, though.
  5. I approve. I figured Annville worked better as a cinder, and the producers agreed. Pity it took ten episodes to do it, preceded by a sequence of events bleaker than the opening credits of Paranoia Agent, set to a cover of "No Rain." I like to think Garth and Steve would approve. And man, Annville was a happy, functional town for all of five minutes. Then "God" started to slip. That was funny. I know that this show won't ever be as hot as The Walking Dead, but I hope there's enough of an audience to ensure the whole story gets told. And hopefully, no spinoffs. We don't mean Better Call Arseface. Or do we?
  6. That reminds me . . . I read "Hooked On A Feline" from the library. I like the trend of comics getting more lady-friendly and silly

I follow a different Adam Warren. Also, I take it the Yanks' bullpen is now "No Runs D"? ETA: David Wright now has a daughter. Her name: Olivia Shea Wright. That is unbearably sweet.
  8. Saw the movie. Nowhere near as scary for me as the originals, though I was a kid back in '84 and '89 and a bit of a wuss, to be honest. The theater was packed, mostly with girls. I'm hoping their ilk fuels a sequel, because I reckon they -- and we -- need everywoman heroines like those four. Also, to stick it to the belligerent fanboys. Oh, and I hope Leslie moves to the main cast on SNL. And that Kristen stops popping by. I'm okay with this movie not being in the same universe as the originals. They got most of the original cast in other roles, and I think that was a bust of Harold Rambis they got in. The new foursome worked well together, and Leslie didn't come out as an add-on the way Ernie Hudson did. Nice to have somebody else spouting exposition besides Melissa. ETA: You cannot pay me to disrespect Leslie Jones. I'm guessing that she probably isn't as crazy as she appears on SNL, and she probably doesn't want to break Colin Jost in two and make love to both halves, but she's the last person in that quartet I'd want to mess with.
  9. I forgot about Kendall. Roni appeared on All-Star Challenge. And I could have sworn Ashley was on another Challenge.
  10. This week: Saitama's regiment revealed! Or as Rock Lee refers to it, "Tuesday, 10-10:45 a.m." And Carnage Kabuto winds up dying when he makes Saitama realize he's missing a sale. At least Armored Gorilla managed to live. He seemed nice, at least for a hyper-evolved experiment. ETA: Toonami ran a promo for next week's episode. Pardisers! I'm happy they're not dubbed "Bald Bastard Brigade." ETA2: I meant "Paradisers." My bad.
  11. Like I said, I'm going by the elimination era . . . everything from the original Battle Of The Sexes to today. Extreme Challenge predates that. Asking this again because this is a general contestant thread . . . if Sarah gets more points than Johnny in the finale and takes the $275K for herself, would that be a good move for redemption? I mean, she'd still be needy as hell, but screwing Johnny over would be an awesome move. This way, he'd get his unprecedented six Challenge win and have nothing to show for it aside from a stipend. That would put a smile on her face . . . though he'd no doubt savage the hell out of her in the reunion, and she'd be painted as a villain for daring to play the game.
  12. Heh. Elsewhere, I wondered if there's going to be a DNC-based episode of IASIP. Possibly with Dennis seeking to bang Hillary. On-Topic: Is anybody keeping track of the nicknames that Trevor has given to you-know-who? Larry beat him to "Cinnamon Hitler," but I might not be remembering correctly.
  13. CBR goes over Harley Quinn's best moments from B:TAS. I would have thrown in her fight with Mercy in "World's Finest," as well as Joker's demise. "PUDDIN'!!!" "At this point, he probably is."
  14. Did Gon reveal his last name at the end of his letter? Weird that he'd do that in a letter to family. And while I'm here: is it a little messed up that Gon wants to become a hunter like his father in order to see why Gin would abandon his family? I would've expected Gon's new pals to give each other raised eyebrows upon finding that out. ETA: New stage! Half of the episode is Gon learning to hunt, so it'll be a while for this arc to warm up. He has to snag Hisoka's badge, which . . . it would be easier for him to protect his number and mug three other applicants to get the points to advance. ETA2: I'm thinking "Pinhead" may be a robot. The horrible part of me reckons that he suffers from Parkinson's.
  15. Is it messed up that I want to nitpick? During the original series, I figured that Kakashi got the Sharrigan from an Uchiha, but I would've guessed it was a medical procedure. Here, we got a girl who was roughly Sakura's age perfroming an eye transplant, and both patients lived through it. Well, Obito lived long enough to die soon after. Seriously, where is Rin these days? And don't tell me she's with Inu Yasha's brother and the green gnome with the gnarly staff.

Did I ever tell you guys that I was in the crowd the last time the Mets retired a number?* I don't remember much from Tom Seaver's ceremony, though I do vividly recall him thanking the fans by jogging to the mound and bowing four times to the crowd. *Not counting Jackie Robinson, even though that was done at Shea. ETA: Another disappointing night for the Mets, and they can't blame an overzealous ump this time. I mean, they did rule fan interference on a Wilmer Flores shot, but that would've made the score 7-3 in the ninth. I'd say that they should fold up shop and play for .500, but that's probably what I was feeling this time last year.

Update: The tarp is on, but the ceremony is about to take place. I'm thankful the game is on SNY, because they're going to cover the celebration.
  18. Is the rewatch still going on? I haven't gone back to my DVDs since I started working again. The closest thing I've done is take out the Target adaption of Invasion Of The Dinosaurs from the library. "The Power Of Kroll" would be funnier if Nick Kroll was spliced in. Discuss.
  19. On Monday, VH1 Classic is rebranding itself to celebrate MTV's 35th birthday. There will be no RW episodes during the day . . . but after hearing a rumor on the Challenge thread, I checked the schedule on August 7, and VH1 Classic will be running the first season.
  20. There are blog posts I keep meaning to write. One of them is listing the "Won-And-Done" Challengers . . . the guys and girls from the elimination era who appeared on one season, won, and never came back. Here's who I got off the top of my head: Danny & Kelley, Colin, Sarah Greyson, Dave (the Grimm guy), Christena (stealth bitch), Jamie Chung, Aviv (don't really remember her), Carley (ditto) and Sam. And Sean, if you figure that Road Rules: All-Stars wasn't a competitive reality show, though they did battle the cast of Road Rules: Northern Trail. Am I missing anybody?
  21. My first reaction: "And me without a sawed-off shotgun to fire wildly into the air."
  22. I remember reading somewhere that Eiichiro Oda doesn't have any on his characters wear eyepatches. I think it's a pirate trope he steers away from. ETA: This week? The counterattack begins. Sanji goes Super Saiyan. And a few crew members mistake Oars for a big red wall.

It's raining right now. The Mets could use it, but tonight is Mike Piazza's night. What would happen if the game was postponed? Would they still have the ceremony? Oh, and the guy on the radio news channel said they were raising Piazza's number to the rafters, and I kinda/sorta want to punch him for that.
  24. Checked Wikipedia. The $375K would be the biggest payout. I didn't keep notes, but I'm sure that a 50/50 split would be pretty huge. IMHO, if Sarah wins and stabs Johnny in the back, I might respect her. But I can't imagine her wanting to get hot lava dropped on her by Johnny at the reunion and by his fans. And I wasn't kidding that she'd name her firstborn after him. Even if it's a girl, she would come off as being that needy for acceptance.
