I keep forgetting . . . goofy-looking Starro for the win! He/it is the Daleks of the Justice League . . . you judge it by appearance and it doesn't occur to you that fear is a valid response until it's far too late.

After the events in November, a "Current Events" forum was set up for people to vent in general. One of the threads was for cute animals . . . sweet critters to lower the blood pressure. The thread went away along with the rest of the forum, but I figured that it can be revived. We already have a pets thread. Basically, if you see something cute involving an animal, post it here. Right now, I cycle through seven Instagram accounts for my fix. I visit Cheezburger for goofy dogs. For instance: here are GIFs of improbably chubby French Bulldog puppies. You're smiling right now, right? Well, this is the place for it. And here's something for panda-cam fiends: 23 cubs gathered in one place.

Sorry about that, @Twilight Man. I saw Action Comics and Green Lantern, and I assumed the others were of a certain vintage as well.

Chilling With Jon Murray: The Behind-The-Scenes Thread
Lantern7 replied to Lantern7's topic in The Challenge
From the Media thread . . . why the fuck does BMP (allegedly) give Johnny five figures for showing up? I have a problem with that. If it were CT's name brought up, I'd still have a problem with that, albeit not as loud. I don't think cast members on other competitive reality shows get that much just for appearing. It's galling to me, especially since Johnny has gotten away with just about everything short of murder. -
I think that's how Cat Grant described National City in the rough draft of the Supergirl pilot. I like the credits, putting the cast in the covers of old-school comics. Very clever. If we ever get a strip club scene, Van has to shout about "MAKING IT WAYNE!!!!!"

Right guy, right place, right time. Apparently, Noah Syndergaard wants to spend quality time with Mr. Met. Ten-to-one says he'll be the first player intentionally injured by a mascot.

"Islands" wrapped up. Finn got to meet other humans, as well as his mother, who tried to keep him there. She's not as big a butthole as Martin, though that goes without saying. And I think Finn is half-Australian. Also, Kara Susan reunites with her friend Frieda, and they go off on their own adventure in the end. I'm hoping Susan gets a makeover if she comes back. Not body-wise . . . she worked to keep that body. But she needs an upgrade from the sack dress.

Don't know if DC Comics needed a sitcom. Slice Gotham in half, and you'd have two of those. Seriously, we're three seasons in, and it is batshit insane. Powerless doesn't seem too bad. Part of me wants to take Ron Funches' laugh and dub it to the (new) Black Canary's cry. And apparently, the idea of Bruce Wayne having an idiot cousin is a Silver Age nod. Griping about Crimson Fox having super-strength and not being insanely French would be a minor quibble. ETA for @whyjoshua . . . let me guess . . . you're still hurt by her death in Starman at the Mist's hands, right?

Looking at the still of the video, I'm guessing that was filmed at Comic-Con International, because there was a similar spread outside New York Comic Con in October. News from AV Club: Matt & Trey won't be "covering" the White House next season. While I'm willing to bet that might change, I can't say that I blame 'em. One more year of following that tornado, and the 21st season would be the last, because they will have shot themselves. Or each other. Bright side: no Mr. Garrison for the foreseeable future? I'm good with that.

I'm tickled that the Red Sox have three times as many titles as the Yankees from 2004 to today. I know, huge overall gap, but I'm betting lots of Red Sox fans would've been happy with the 2004 title. If Fenway Park doesn't have statues, I'm thinking one might be made off David Ortiz. Boston was his fucking city, after all.

I could have sworn B/Bee said he had eight swords, not seven. Sorry for the mistake, though I insist he would say that about Zoro. ETA: Watched the latest episode again. Tickled that Bee stopped the fight to write in his book. I can't understand kanji, but "YEAH" and "YO" were in English. For some reason, this tickles me. I'd like to see a translation, though.

Saw this variant cover of Spider-Man/Deadpool #14 from Todd Nauck. Thought of you. Sorry/Not-that-sorry. If it can't be seen outside Facebook, I'll try to find it elsewhere.

In case you didn't see it, How It Should Have Ended covers Doctor Strange.

S12.E05: Making Dennis Reynolds a Murderer
Lantern7 replied to Lantern7's topic in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
I don't watch those shows, so I'm thinking that I missed a lot. On the plus side, Mac shows again that he's not funny, Dee is always willing to do a gig, and Frank has done far, far worse than Dennis. Probably. Maybe. Gotta love Frank fleeing by cab, getting reminded of statue of limitations, then going back because the TV people had a decent spread. Because Frank, that's why. -
Forgot about Capt. Singh. Poor, seemingly clueless Capt. Singh. "He's legit"? Really? I missed the part where he muttered "God. Damn. It. Allen." under his breath.

I hope Felicity doesn't go whole hog back into the hacking. Aside from the legal danger, didn't she have to pay Neil Gaiman royalties for looking like his interpretation of Death? For pity's sake, she wore an ankh! Isn't "Drake" the maiden name of Laurel and Sara's mother? Or am I mistaken? I know "Dinah" was Laurel's first name (re: George Thomas Seaver, Lynn Nolan Ryan). "Dinah Drake" is a little odd. As for Dinah's future . . . meh. Why would you want somebody on par with Laurel? She wasn't that good at anything. She got the crash course on fighting from Nyssa. Now, if you looking for a replacement for the original Black Canary? That would be rough. Sara is a bonafide all-star. Bring her back, and you risk dinosaur stormtroopers marching through the streets if she leaves the Waverider, because nobody else can lead the team. Well, maybe Amaya, but she's still a newbie on that team. And another thing . . . how many crimes were being committed in Central City when the particle accelerator exploded? I have lost track.

In case anybody else is having problems keeping up with "Islands": 1. "The Invitation" 2. "Whipple The Happy Dragon" 3. "Mysterious Island" 4. "Imaginary Resources" 5. "Hide And Seek" (tonight; 7:30) 6. "Min And Marty" (tonight; 7:45) 7. "Helpers" (tomorrow; 7:30) 8. "The Light Cloud" (tomorrow; 7:45) ETA: Because five or six people demanded it . . . Susan Strong's Kara's origin! Well done, though. And then, we meet Finn's mom! And also Martin, back when he was an easily-graspable asshole.

Halfway through. Interesting concepts, though BMO-as-Virtual-Big-Man might be a little scarring. Okay, a lot scarring.

Funny115 analyzes the Rodney/Joaquin bromance. Bonus: GIF of Mike's sweet dance moves.

Quake/Black Widow ships? I do not want to go to there. Nothing against Daisy, but that's a slippery, squicky slope. As far as finding out about that, Daisy pales to Sam & Dean. Poor bastards. Yes, they know you're brothers. Great to see Patton Oswalt back, and the mystery of the Koenings solved. Four dopey brothers and their surly sister works for me. Glad I'm not the one thinking "Life Model Decoys" in the first season. Only reason why I'd want happytimes between Phil and June (not "May") is so Coulson would get into that knowing she wasn't "real." Not that June would be obvious, but it would be funny to see Phil that alert . . . to the point where he'd do a striptease set to "I Touch Myself," and springs would pop out of her. Yes, I have too much free time. "I Like Hearing Robots Scream" should be on Mac's business cards, if that isn't the case already.

TDS 3.0: Season Two Talk
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
So it wasn't just me. And @Midnight started a minute early. I'm DVRing the repeat to see if it repeats. Actually, I want to show my mother the fat bulldog puppy. So cute. -
Anybody else getting ready for Malcolm and Damien to kiss? Okay, that may be because John Barrowman is involved, but the tension was so thick and funny. And they're both more appealing than Cap'n Eo. Dammit, why does the team say anything around Mick? The guy has no filter. At least Martin and Lily managed to get past the aberration thing. Also, did it look like she and Ray were getting close? We know he likes his women brainy, and she probably has more degrees than Felicity. Is that supposed to be Flash-2/"Jay"? At least Zoom doesn't have to play impotent in death. No Sara action this week. She'll probably work her feet through a shitload of redcoats next week.

Looks like Iris has possession of the idiot ball. Not blaming her entirely, but she's as big a butthead as her brother. And he sets the bar so high. Disappointed that Gypsy is basically Vibette. Doesn't the canon character have camouflage powers? She seemed cool, though. Cisco needs to go online for love. Lisa Snart, Kendra Saunders, and Gypsy? Poor guy. What about Caitlin? Oh, right . . . she likes her men more manly, and she's a tiny bit black widow. Cheerleader reaction to Kid Flash is funny. How much older is Barry? Five years? Six? Huckster is still a putz. With Julian on the team, his role is more expendable. I'd still take Hary over him . . . but not Reverse Wells. Progress??
