  1. Its not my first experience with Kdramas, but just finished watching Signal. It is a really good series overall, but the ending was the kind I dislike very much - especially when you know there's no more (further episodes or seasons) coming. I detest investing nearly 1200 minutes of my limited free time just to find out that its a 'CYOE', from a viewers standpoint. For a series like this one, I appreciate that romance wasn't a main theme. I will say this for Kdramas though, they do not skimp on the emotional front one little bit. Even though I think they overdo it some with all the tears, you have to have to some faulty wiring in your brain or have to be a complete sociopath to not feel even just a tiny bit of anything while watching a good Korean drama. I watched Bad Guys before this, and I liked that one quite a bit as well. Same for Rugal, about a year ago. If you can't tell, I prefer action & mystery vs mainly romance, but I did mostly enjoy Hotel Del Luna. It helped that HDL had a heavy sci-fi/fantasy lean, though. I can handle a kinda sappy romance if its mixed in with an interesting plot and/or subplots. As a comparison between good and bad Kdramas, I tried watching the Korean version of Criminal Minds and could only barely stomach 3 episodes. Maybe my view was too heavily colored by having already watched and known the original US version, but the Korean version is well, its bad. Bordering on pretty terrible. Some could say I should not be allowed to rate a season I didn't even watch a quarter of, and maybe it gets better as it goes on, but of what I did see left me very underwhelmed. None of the characters, with maybe the lone exception of the 'Prentiss'-based character, none of the other actors/actresses were anything much like the counterparts they were based off of.
  2. I will say this about Show, when they need to hit the right emotional beats on sensitive subjects such as presented in this episode, they do it well. Since the series is shifting towards a much bigger focus on interpersonal relationships, I think we're gonna see Gordon and the ex becoming a 'thing' at times this season ...... or he and Lia 'hook up' after the Magnum/Lia relationship is over. Cade is either homeless, or really loves his job. Turns down a reward for returning a purse and then sleeps in the backroom. So what's going to end the M/L? Its not a secret anymore - as if it ever really was - so the clock is ticking on that breakup. If they make the Miggy hints any bigger or more obvious, we're all gonna end up like this poor guy,
  3. Haven't watched yet, but am wondering........ I know this series is inspired by the George Romero movies, but going by how its pitched and some of the comments in this thread about its premiere... would it be safe to say it also takes some inspiration from the Return of the Living Dead movies from the mid-to-late '80s, at least in terms of the humor? RotLD movies were comedic - in the coarse humor type of way - spoof-like versions of Romero's films.
  4. I forgot to mention how much I love the magic of television. Only the 'Cougar' saw Magnum - sorry, LR - "break" the security camera, despite there being numerous people in the general outdoor bar area. There wasn't even a semi-high or big bush in front of the pole to help disguise or hide his actions.
  5. Jin didn't complete annoy me in this one, like usual, but that's thanks mostly to the addition of the niece character. A simple "caught stealing golf clubs" turns into stealing ivory from a smuggling 'kingpin'. I mean, sure, why not? Could happen to anyone. I think there's a dramatically different reason behind the kid being so desperate to get hired on at La Mariana. No way its that simple as trying to save up for an old beater, not when the character was just introduced. I don't hate Det. Lia Kaleo, but its hard to really like or invest anything in a character that's mostly just an endgame ship-stalling device. Speaking of endgame shipping...... Higgins telling Magnum that Dr Ethan is staying in Kenya for 6 more months, as "Love is what you find when its not what you're looking for" is being sung in the background. Might as well CGI in a big neon "(impending)Miggy Moment!" sign on to the screen. Not to mention the constant eye sex they share every time there's a 'moment' between them.
  6. I find myself asking myself "Self, why do you keep watching shows that make you feel they're more of a waste of time instead of actually caring about them, and have felt that way for the vast majority of over 1.5 seasons of it?". That's obviously what Rick (& Kumu) and Magnum (& Higgins) felt about TC getting shot in this last episode, so..... Since we already know the reason behind them keeping the relationship a secret and Higgins knowing about it in the first couple episodes, does that mean Lia - sorry, I mean Detective Kaleo's - screen time is about to become nonexistent? Meaning what dramatical reason is there for her to get a lot of time now?? Writers showing their astounding amount of talent in killing all that in the span of the very first two episodes of the new season. Not really unexpected, after watching botched plot lines from previous seasons. I had a very disturbing thought while watching the first two episodes earlier.... because they are keeping it a secret, Katsumoto will start developing feelings for Kaleo. And this could happen at the same time that Dr Ethan has broken things off with Higgins, and she'll start the falling - officially - for Magnum. Creating this super-duper messy quadrangle of a 'love triangle'. Since its the last thing any sane viewer would want, its almost a guarantee its in the cards. Oh, and color me very unsurprised if the whole MI6 storyline for Miggy this season - or half-season, whatever - will somehow involve Magnum as the subject of the investigation/mission. Something to do with his past in Afghanistan, or his connection to Masters, or his dealings with Ivan. Somehow, someway, Magnum will be the core of whatever MI6 lady has Higgins doing. Why else would whatever Higgins needs to do be based in Hawaii? I'm not saying its too coincidental to be the case, but its pretty much too coincidental.
  7. This is actually another downside of social media, IMO. People feel like they have share every.thing., asap. First of all it destroys most of the credibility that shows like these have - and for skeptics, the amount of credibility is very limited to begin with - so why would you be in a hurry to tell people what happens for real is a lot different than what is shown on the episodes? And it strikes me as odd that Gates (seemingly) has no problem with her giving all the 'secrets' away like that. Another thing that really dimmed my enjoyment of the show - even though it has nothing to do with them faking paranormal findings or evidence - is learning that Chobot & Torres go do the investigations and then they film the 'case reads' with Gates after their seasonal road trip. Instead of the way its presented on-screen; IE, the case read and then them heading out to do the investigation. It just takes a lot of the realism out of it for me. I watched 3 'seasons' of it before learning the above. Feel like I can't trust any evidence of paranormal activity that they 'catch' and present now, which is a real bummer.
  8. I still watch (like an idiot) but I found out on Reddit that a lot of the stuff on Expedition X - Expedition Unknown's paranormal-focused spin off - is not necessarily faked, or at least not all of it, but the stuff shown on TV is seriously misrepresented as what actually happens. Someone on the E U/E X sub stalks, sorry 'follows', Chobot and E X on Twitter and learns the real stuff behind investigations/episodes. For instance, when she voice-overs that they stay at a location for an overnighter, they actually ditch and go stay at a hotel. Makes one seriously wonder what is real on that show and what isn't. Is it all faked? Most of it, at least??
  9. Damn. I was [mistakenly] trying to give the show credit, that not (pretty much) every single submission they get and 'unpack'/discuss is CGI'd or hoaxed. Seems the IF qualifier I used was very much needed, in this case.
  10. Thanks for providing that. And I have been burned too many times thinking a promo was the true indication of what actually happens. It certainly looks interesting and like 'confirmation' of what we all know is coming (at some point), but I've been fooled before enough to not immediately buy in that its 100% real.
  11. IF - and that word is always huge in the case of talking about the clips on this show - but IF the opening portion of the 'new' episode of the current season of Paranormal: Caught on Camera [listed as 4.14 on guide] was not faked at all, then...... holy shit. This might be the first time I've ever been truly freaked out by something shown on this series. I mean, the head & face that rises up from below/between the pinatas?? Yikes! ETA: Again, IF not faked, the last portion of the episode was pretty intense as well. Lots of activity going on in that abandoned house, or at least that one room/area.
  12. Dude, I would watch those types of shows & documentaries on History and the Discovery(+) network of channels billions & billions of times over and over again before I'd watch a "Negan" spin-off series. The fact that they think there's enough Negan fans out there to make a spin-off series about him worth the effort, is frankly scary. It can't be because all of them are purely JDM fans, who just happens to portray Negan, instead of the actual character.
  13. There really needs to be a puke emoji reaction option for things like this. TPTB really want to ruin the show's overall legacy, don't they!? A series just about Negan (& maybe the Saviors)?? Holy f*ing shit, what an absolutely horrible idea! Not even a series that would be either a 'prequel', or in the early days of TWD, would ever make me consider wasting even a millisecond thinking about ever watching it.
  14. Another thing it also tells me is that the most of the original-run last season's CM cast can't find work, if they're willing to come back to a series that was (imo) tanking in its last few seasons; especially if its the same show-runner and writers producing the scripts.
  15. I just don't get why Magnum's relationship with Katsumoto's new partner needs to be a secret. And is it a secret from everyone, or just Higgins? I'm pretty much expecting it to be just Higgins, at this point. This show does WT/WT anvilicious clues like its lawfully mandatory. Which makes the past Magnum/Abby + current Higgins/Ethan + Magnum/new LI, all the more grating because they're nothing more than "endgame ship-stalling" placeholders.
  16. @Ananayel, that sucks about Holzer Files being cancelled. While it wasn't ground-breakingly spectacular, it was one of the very few "paranormal evidence gathering" shows that didn't grate on the nerves more often than not. Just because I know everyone out there is sitting on pins and needles waiting for it [/sarcasm], a new season of Paranormal: Caught on Camera debuts on Travel Channel next week (9/8) at 9p EST/8p CST. At least it'll be (somewhat) new stuff. These continual marathons & Top 100 countdowns on Tuesdays & Thursdays just keep getting tougher and tougher to stomach, as time marches on.
  17. Tell me about it. Travel Channel has definitely 'cornered the market' on "paranormal TV", currently... unfortunately, most of it is either stuff I've seen countless times already and still keeps just repeating with marathons a couple times a week (IE, America's Most Terrifying Places and Paranormal: Caught on Camera) or stuff I'd rather not watch at all, if can help it (IE, Ghost Adventures). I would watch Kindred Spirits a lot more, just for something a bit different if nothing else, but I just can't stand that Chip Coffey. Can not. Talk about OTT with everything he says and does.
  18. That's almost right out of the recently cancelled MacGyver's writing room playbook. (the showrunner - being interviewed after finding out the series had been cancelled - said they were going to bring Desi's ex-bf back "from the dead" so those two could reunite and it would open the path to Mac/Riley in S6, had it not been cancelled [obviously])
  19. No matter which direction they take on either, there will be entertainment value to be had in just how badly the writers mess up with how they have it portrayed on-screen. Look at what they did - or should I say, what they did not do - with that whole white SUV plot (or lack there of, honestly) from last season. If it weren't for a writer admitting so on Twitter, mostly everyone would be thinking that white SUV would still be an open plot line from previously.
  20. Can already tell how this is gonna go. Like you said @Raja, Higgins will come back having broken things off with Ethan - because he thinks she's hung up on Magnum - and maybe already having realized her "love" for Magnum by the time she arrives back in Hawai'i, finds him dating someone else. And with the above mention of the PLI having a 'secret she's keeping' will cause Higgins to tell Magnum that she thinks his PLI is hiding something and doesn't trust her which will set Magnum off because he didn't interfere with her and Ethan, etc. Ultra predictable. *Yawn* If M/H, or 'Miggy', isn't a canon thing as the credits close on this new season, I'd rather they just drop the whole subplot altogether. WT/WT has a shelf life, imo. You can only make it so obvious for so long before it becomes unbearable to put up with. Endgame doesn't/shouldn't always have to mean closing moments of a series.
  21. I've seen that commercial a couple times also. As an aside, Jael de Pardo - also of True Paranormal: Fact or Faked - is (I believe) titled on the show as a paranormal investigator, but is listed as a model-slash-actress on TP: FoF's IMDB page... or is everyone who isn't a well-known actor/actress listed that way on IMDB?
  22. ^ Nice! Feels like its been at least 2.25 years since I last saw a new episode of The Orville ... oh, wait. Guess it has been.
  23. Without having read Jerusalem's Lot, I'll be going into this one kinda blind. But I see its based off a Stephen King work and is horror/sci-fi, so I'll give it a shot. Not an initial fan of there being young kids about and possibly in the forefront of the story being told, though, as I don't usually like having to deal with watching kids in this type of medium. jmo. [I also haven't read SK's Salem's Lot, but I have seen both TV/movie adaptations]
