  1. If anyone's interested to at least check it out..... Don't know when it started, just turned the channel on, but a block of THCF is on again on Travl. (running to 3p CST today) Episodes are all in order. 1.08 on now and runs through 1.11. ETA: Episodes 12-15 of s1 will be airing at 11a-2p CST tomorrow (4/25).
  2. Watched last week's episode.......... I've seen enough TV to know that it isn't done just on this show, but isn't it always convenient how aspects of the case dovetail into something one of them are struggling with in their personal life? Like in this last episode, Higgins is struggling with the decision to tell Ethan about her MI6 past - which I call BS on, btw - and how the case went & ended up helped her decide. Oh, along with a healthy dose of shared heart-eyes with Magnum (all the while hinting that Ethan is possibly not 'the one' for her) because God forbid we don't get our Hawaii-sized Miggy anvils in an episode. I call BS on her not having told Ethan about her MI6 past already, though. She shares that like its going out of style with everyone else, even one-off characters in individual episodes. I liked that Kumu, Rick & TC were given something to do, but the subplot left me 'meh' mostly. The ending robbed any poignancy from the whole thing. "Oh, you stole a very large amount 30+ years ago? Oh well. What's past is past. S'all good. But you're relative stole what you stole, so we gotta come down on him.". And its obvious Kumu didn't tell the PD that her cousin sold some of the stolen loot off for cash, because I'm thinking the 'totally looking the other way' would not have been as easy to do if that were the case.
  3. So, after watching 2.5 episodes, I conclude that THCF is just like every other ghost/paranormal investigation show - only with someone recognized from another program. I've watched enough ghost hunting shows to classify them all as "seen one, seen them all". The only difference about this show and something like Ghost Adventures is that the reactions are very toned down and not over-acted. Brian Cano is the tech expert on the show. Is involved in investigations, and is a person who leans skeptical but is very open to encountering & interacting with the paranormal.
  4. What I really dislike about the 'slow-burn based LIs' trope is not just that it delays the inevitable "endgame", but also because on some shows, the non-endgame LI ends up being the one I wanted for endgame instead of the canon one that's provided. lol
  5. This could be very old news, but for the big Brian Cano fans (one of the P:CoC 'experts'), he's one of the investigators on a show called The Haunted Collector Files. A mini "marathon" is airing now on Travl, and my guide is saying these are brand new episodes (at least in terms of being aired by the network). Can't tell by seeing him here if its in the present time or actually from a few years ago. Turned THCF on just for the heck of it to see what it was like, and was thrown when he showed up as one of the investigators and in infrared lighting. The immediate reaction was hey, I recognize that face and voice, but it can't be him. It is him. He was labeled so on the show. This run of episodes I'm watching runs up to 11a CST, this morning. All from season 1 (if there's more).
  6. I wouldn't hold your breath about Miggy not happening. They've thrown waaay too many anvils for it not to be hints of 'endgame'. Although I've accepted the fact its going to happen, I'm sick of the trope of introducing non-serious LIs just for the sake of "slow burn". Its easy to tell a LI isn't serious or endgame when they appear in a third - or less - of all the episodes they were 'part' of the show, and most of those appearances are quick one-off scenes with little significance to both the relationship and episode at hand.
  7. So I've been watching Sci Channel quite a lot the past couple weeks - variety of shows & subjects - and while I get some viewing enjoyment out of the actual programs..... my god, the repeating commercials. Especially the ones pushing Discovery+. Between the ads for Deadliest Catch, Single Life, the Magnolia Network, FOOD Network, etc, I reach points where I want to turn to another station and forever avoid all the channels in the whole Discovery/+ network, so as to drastically reduce the frequency of being bombarded by these constantly repeating money grabs.
  8. I felt like I missed it too, but I've seen it mentioned in multiple places that the show writers confirmed on social media that 3.09 - The Big Payback was the conclusion to the 'white SUV' plot. The thing that always made me doubt it was that the white SUV was never even shown in that episode. It was mentioned, but not highlighted. Again, it was a big fail, imo.
  9. In all honesty, I'm actually kinda 'meh' on this one. I'll keep watching Magnum just because I've watched every episode so far - and plan to watch the last 3 of this season - but the writing really needs to improve. Most individual cases (since the middle of last season) are very blah. That 'white SUV' storyline from the first half of this shortened season? What a joke. They set it up to make it seem like some huge plot that would be a very engagingly memorable spectacle and conclusion, but instead of it going out with a bang all we got was a brief hiccup in a few episodes [mentions] and finishing with a breathless whimper. Huge fail, imo. And finally... enough with the anvils, people. Either pair Miggy up next season, or put them with a permanent LI each. "Time to shit or get off the pot", PTB.
  10. There's a #SaveMacGyver campaign going on in the social media sphere, but I wouldn't recommending holding one's breath over it. And even if it is saved, it'd likely be put on a streaming network like CBS-All Access; which is now - or will be - Paramount+, right?
  11. IF Magnum survives cancellation and NCIS: Hawaii gets green-lit, then look for a crossover there.
  12. Just got caught up on the last few episodes.... 3.13 - The Lies We Tell Even with a DNR order, you're telling me that there was not a night nurse at the desk, at the very least, to be there when Icepick flatlined, or his status changed in any way?? Not even one passing by when Rick left the room and TC left him with the video afterwards. I get that its just a fictional TV show, but cmon. That's just lazy. The case itself? Extremely meh. 3.14 - Dark Harvest Enough Jin already. Just stop. My heart strings were tugged on with the dog and his disabled vet owner, but I hate when shows have a compelling storyline undercut by switching to unfunny comedy scenes that are (usually) pretty much unenjoyable to watch & are only there to fill out the 43-minute run time. As much as I loved Chuck, that series was infamous for doing just that pretty much every episode. Yes, I am comparing Jin's scenes to the Jeffster/Jeffster+Morgan "Buy Morons" scenes in Chuck. 3.15 - Cry Murder The synopsis for this episode should have been, simply; "Grab your hard hat and umbrella, cause this one is raining future!Miggy anvils. Oh, and also featuring a cute baby & mouse." After watching the first 13 episodes of this season, I am starting to fear this show could turn into Castle - at least as the way I saw it. Pre-Caskett officially becoming a couple, I got some viewing enjoyment out of the show. Post-Caskett? Not so much. As much as I'm tired of the constant Miggy anvils, and would prefer they stop wasting time and make it official, I think I'm kinda leaning towards the hope they never actually go there in case it makes a somewhat watchable series even less so.
  13. They got 7.5 to 8 seasons of TWD and a few episodes of FTWD worth of my time. That's more of a personal investment than other series that I liked more, overall, in the long run. They're dreaming if they think its quite likely that I'll watch any more, of any spinoff or side-project. If they want or expect me to watch something based on the reason I lost complete interest in TWD - ie, Negan (& The Saviors) - they can happily GFT with a rough splintery wooden phallus substitute.
  14. There aren't many times I hear about TV news, and think "never in this lifetime will I ever watch that!", but this is one of those very rare times. But that goes for any of the options you listed, not just the bolded one.
  15. ^ For those who are still big fans of the show, I feel sorry for your losing the show (at least the main one) after next season. But personally? No tears will be shed over it. .... unless I stub my toe. But even then, there'd still be no crying, just colorfully descriptive OTT swearing like Negan. Oh, and JDM, I'm guessing a big reason for the amount of shooting days per episodes extending out so much probably has more to do with Covid-proofing measures than some epic grand story-telling taking place, but whatever helps ya sleep at night. Swearing in interviews like Negan.... he's gonna need a few roles that are the exact polar opposite of this character to get rid of the 'Negan stank' off him, from my pov.
  16. It could be the MacRiley colored glasses I'm wearing, but it wouldn't surprise me if other people were also getting tired of the MacDesi BS and the ratings were significantly suffering because of it.
  17. The cancellation news 100% cements the fact that Desi's past love shows up alive and the very ending of the finale will be setting up the future MacRiley.... which would be absolutely par for the course with my f*ing luck. Instead of getting a season to see what the MacRiley ship would look like in canon, the show gets axed before it can happen. But, if MacRiley is in the process of happening as the screen goes black on the finale, then we'll be able to say the ship was officially 'endgame'. Slight positive. The thing I am most looking forward to, though, after learning this cancellation news? Guaranteed no more MacDesi on-and-off BS, and not having to detest watching episodes because of it.
  18. Can't even get away from P;CoC clips when watching another channel. Watching a Strange Evidence marathon on SCI Channel and at least 1 P;CoC clip per episode has been debated and attempted to provide a scientific explanation for what happened.
  19. 'Watching' P:CoC again.... having seen the majority of these clips/reactions so many times already, still not believing most of them. What is wrong with me!?
  20. I was actually thinking about paying closer attention to this, to determine if I wanted to get into the series - only watched the first 1.5-2 episodes shortly after they debuted, so far - just because it seems like they might finally be getting somewhere in terms of providing a solid direction, if not answers, to the "mystery". But it seems like quite a few of you all who have actually watched the whole series are not completely enthused that the show is back, or that it didn't get cancelled period. And have to be honest, the seemingly theological premise is a turn-off as well, and has been since the beginning. If I want religion, I'll read/watch/attend specific things for it, not watching a primetime TV series that has more of a sci-fi lean to it.
  21. Until it amounts to anything - if ever - they're just ship-baiting. Plain and simple. Trying to keep the 'fringe' fans engaged and eager to tune in. Seen this happen a lot in the last 2-3+ TV seasons. And unfortunately for myself, I'm pretty much always in the baited portion of the fanbase. Its turning me off of new and existing TV shows, unless its a genre that I really like regardless of such things.
  22. I want MacRiley, but I dislike the immediate heavy-handedness they are treating it with. The very last scene is Mac showing up at Riley's door late at night, basically wanting her to tell him she still has feelings for him, and then the next episode they conveniently will be sent on a mission, just the two of them?? I mean, cmon. Riley struggled - with some Bozer help - for 1.5 seasons with her feelings for Mac, and its going to turn into something 'serious' right off the bat? IDK. I feel like there needs to be an episode or two of Mac doing some self-reflection and then being honest with Desi before moving on, but it seems they're gonna skip some steps and taking a page out of Murdoc's book, fast forward to the part they want to get to. And even though I very much dislike the MacDesi, the writers are doing Desi no favors and never really have. She finds out Mac was going to propose to her, then that Riley has romantic feelings for Mac, and she tells him "do what you feel is right" without a hint of "please choose me!". This is what I dislike about the whole M/D personal relationship; she doesn't/won't fight 'for' them. She'll fight with him, about them, but never really for them. Mac did all the fighting for them.
  23. I think they'd have shown him in a more 'shadowy' type of way if that were the case, but you could be right. In a way that viewers would be like "that guy is kinda odd", instead of just seeing him as Higgins' Dr Love.
  24. Murdoc's a TeamRiley guy (maybe Team Mac/Riley as well?). Besides the reveal of Riley's feelings for Mac, that's the most important thing I took from the episode. He may be a murderous psychopath, but he's got one redeeming quality. And I'll believe that's the end of Codex when I don't see a big storyline involving them for a few episodes.
