I wanted to like this movie. I watched it yesterday and just couldn’t understand why it received awards. I thought it was pretentious and hard to follow. I don’t think you have to be intuitive to get it. I understand what it was about but the execution was all over the place. Metaphors to everything bagels is not art. It’s more of the writers saying “look how clever I am”.

Did anyone watch this? It’s on Hulu and nominated for best picture. It makes me lose faith in the industry when a movie this terrible is nominated. it started off interesting enough but once it got to the long disgusting It was awful. Who wants to watch that?

I hate when animals are killed. Especially dogs. Yeah I know it’s fake lol but whenever there is a dog I have to check ahead of time to find out if it dies. This was in the last episode so I dealt with. So many questions already asked. Like them keeping the brownstone etc. Also thinking the young security kid was the watcher. Those letters were being sent supposedly since the 90’s before he was born. Did they think he was a copycat watcher then? How did Theodora get so much info? A banker would tell her all about Deans money and how he didn’t make partner? Can he legally divulge that info? Did anyone think for a minute there was something weird between Dean and the daughter? No explaination of why the neighbors were so obsessed with renovations of the house.

I don’t agree with teaching teens sex techniques. I know they are going to do what they are going to do and I think it’s good practice to teach safe sex IF they decide to have it but I don’t think it should be condoned either. They need to know that they are probably not emotionally ready.

Can’t this show ever talk about controversial topics without being so heavy handed? And why can’t these shows find some new sex moves then the jump up with legs wrapped around and ending with them both falling back on the bed at the end. There are many less cliche positions. Was the pregnant girl under 18? I would think the parents would have to be notified.

First trailer Stephen Dorff is in it so that’s exciting.

I watched. Did the cops try and ping Cari’s phone? Wouldn’t that solve if the texts were actually coming from her?

It kept my interest but sometimes the dialogue is so contrived. Like the intern who said she pictured the walls beige when her mother died giving birth but they are blue. It’s not how people actually talk. Nobody can just have normal answers. They go into a heavily written monologues with so many ands. And then the in your face wokeness monologue about climate change. It wouldn’t bother me if it wasn’t so obvious.

Judging by J’s reaction after he poisoned Penny it seemed like he really did love her. I don’t think she would have said anything. I don’t feel J or any of the Cody men were complete sociopaths. That’s why I feel the show and characters were interesting.

Does J have it in him to kill Penny? I remember his reaction after he killed that girl that killed Baz. What was her name? I remember him getting into the car and freaking out about it. Or maybe he has become more of a sociopath as time has gone on.

Couldn’t Julia have gone to the police? I think she is only 16. Legally Smurf couldn’t kick her out. Or maybe time has passed and she is 18.

I assume Smurf knows Julia is taking money from her? Was Craig serious when talking to J about memories and how he is greatful he is helping them with Pope or is feeling him out? What is J’s angle with the girl he is helping? Maybe there isn’t one and he does really like her?

Did the lawyer say Pope would get out while he was still young? If he is 16 in the flashbacks in 1992, he is 46 now. Getting out in 25 years isn’t exactly young. Or maybe I misheard. I like the flashbacks only for the fact that I was in HS in 1992 and I think they do a pretty good job of representing that time.

It’s interesting to learn how Pope became so messed up. Could anything be more messed up then paying someone to sleep with your 16 year old son? Is J in love with this girl or is there another agenda.

I think Sean Hatosy should have received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. He plays that character so well. No other character has come off as creepy, is a murder, yet makes breakfast burritos for people that don’t have enough to eat and is so worried about a date. He is complicated lol.

So they all but say Will is gay without actually saying it and my friend said “They did? I didn’t get that impression at all”. I knew she wouldn’t get it. It was pretty obvious wasn’t it?

What was the thing with Deran beating up that guy about? I must have missed something. Why do both Smurf and Julia cuddle in the bed with Pope. Just something off And Pope was trying to do something good with his life by going to church (not my thing but I respect it) and Smurf tormented him. It’s crazy to think some of this things he has done including murder yet you almost feel sorry for him.

I thought it was very entertaining.

I’d give it a 7 out of 10. The first half was all over the place. I thought the best part was when they got to Vegas. I love the intro music so I’m glad they showed it being composed. They never showed him singing C.C. Rider though? I thought the casting of Priscilla was off and no mention of their age difference. I think a good depiction of their relationship would is the 1988 mini series Elvis and Me. I thought Tom Hanks was good. I always forget he is Tom Hanks in his movies even with his distinct voice. Austin Butler was good and especially in the Vegas scenes.

Teen Baz doesn’t look anything like adult Baz but he is a good actor. He was in a movie called Embattled (with Stephen Dorff) that he was really good in. Smurf was jealous of Julia therefore pretty much ruined her So they burned down Gia’s store? I can’t remember what she did to them in the past.

People saying it’s amazing I feel like are jumping on the bandwagon. It’s was paint by numbers. I saw if for other people and was bored. I don’t care about action. And people saying Tom Cruise doesn’t age? It’s called getting work done and lighting. And nobody else found Jennifer Connelly first scene at the bar annoying? Her contrived dialogue with a bit of sarcasm trying to act sexy was fake. And they kept calling Goose’s son a kid. If the timeline follows the amount of years since the first movie he looked about 4 in 1986 so he would be pushing 40.

My dad was diagnosed about 5 years ago with dementia. He is 78 now and hasn’t changed much. Still has his own routine, has normal conversations etc....the only noticeable changes are anxiety and getting angry easily. I am just so sick of Kate’s quiet frown face. And I might be in the minority but I am not a fan of Beths quirky, clever dialogue. I mean who says capiche?

Randall mention Miguel’s blood pressure meds like it was abnormal. He is in his 70’s. Most people that age are in blood pressure meds. The tremors could be Parkinson’s but also could be from age.

Or maybe he couldn’t settle down with a woman because he is gay or bi. Doubtful but it’s a route shows take now. Not a good or bad thing just very woke. Just another theory. I also agree we need one episode that shows how Miguel and Rebecca end up together. I know it showed a few seasons ago that they reconnected through social media but when did they lose touch? When did they actually meet up again?
