  1. "Awkwardly uncomfortable" is on point but just scratches the surface. That Lisa video is painful and unprofessional. For someone who is coming up on her second audition, she should be more aware of her presentation and being evaluated as an ambassador/representative of the organization. She came off so ditzy and seemed nearly hysterical a few times in this video. Part of my discomfort was a new level of me wondering, what is she like in person?--which I've wondered a good bit about her before this, in part based on the mean-girl rumors but also because she came across as soooo intense to me on the show. I wanted to like her because she seems to have a lot to offer--smart, driven, biomedical engineering degree, powerful dancer, bilingual, Alanna seems to like her--but this video finally pushed me to the "no" side for Lisa and it should put her on Kelli's radar. Not only does she come off so strangely here, her outfit is ridiculous and brings me right back to wondering why/how she's not more aware that the social media postings they're doing are going to be considered when evaluating the rookies coming up on their second auditions. I mean, this is right on top of auditions, and frankly, DCC should know to treat their whole rookie year like an audition. She seems to think she looks cute and funky, but her outfit looked sloppy and far less than glam girl-next-door. Those shorts could hardly have bigger slits in them to show off more leg, the Flashdance sweatshirt with the hair and the hat looked a mess, and with those heels, ugh. Even allowing for the heels reference in the song as justification, just no. If you want to dance in heels, don't wear such hoochie mamma shorts. Don't get me wrong: I love me a Flashdance sweatshirt or T-shirt! But even with a body like hers, I would not put it together with an outfit like that, especially if someone else like my boss were going to see me in it. Guess I had pretty strong feelings about this video. 😅
  2. I AM IN SO MUCH SUSPENSE WAITING TO FIND OUT WHO MADE IT TO SEMIS! When is banquet again? I need verification that Christina is retiring and Bridget is staying for another 3 years. I really hope they give us good training camp tidbits through the summer. They can still surprise us with things in the show and not spoil it too much while still giving us glimpses of who's in camp, what they're doing, and how they're going to pull this off this year.
  3. Great list, y'all--thanks for the sleuthing and compiling! That's a pretty impressive list of potentially serious contenders. I find myself a little sad that so few spots are open this year but there are few vets who I really want to see retire. I feel like, however training camp actually will work, there is potential for a very strong rookie class. I agree with the other posters that a lot of these ladies don't look like serious candidates even just based on superficial quick glances, but it looks like there are some very beautiful dancers and ladies in the mix. I saw on the post below that they claim to have gotten "1500+" applications for round one. That seems wild, given the drop in numbers over the past several seasons and the exaggerated claims of 400 candidates each audition season. Still, I suppose a lot of folks who would not have been able or wanted to spend the $ on travel for auditions might have decided this was their cost-effective year to go for it. I'm guessing they will have ample footage for the are-these-women-really-trying-out sequence in the first episode from these submissions. Loved the post Kelly did watching one of the videos (with the cows) and hope we get more of those, too!
  4. Yikes. Agree all that tagging is a risk. Not sure how I feel about her look. She has a great figure and gorgeous hair, but the hair color needs to be something else and her makeup is too dark around the eyes and and lips and too light on her face. Maybe she's a fun makeover candidate. I can see where she could have the look.
  5. 😂🤣 I always have liked that the DCC have more than just beautiful Barbie doll lookalikes on the team, and Amy and Maddie were two I always presumed brought more to the table than just their looks--otherwise, I don't see how either made the team their rookie years. But, I also always like the idea of a point and triangle with the real "DCC look." They don't have to be glamorous, but as the prime photo op girls, they should be photogenic (how many pics of Maddie with a weird smile or all her teeth showing?), pretty or at least have that semi-glam girl next door look, and have clean lines and good curves for the photos. My list of vets who exceed these two in those categories is quite long. I'd love to see any of these girls in the triangle/diamond more than (or I guess I should say alongside) Maddie this year: Lexie, Gina, Caroline, Rachel W, Amber, Tess, Hannah, Ashlee, or Cianna. Very eager to see who GL and 2GL are this year! I predict Gina and Lexie will get the GL promotions if Miranda stays. Would love to see Ashlee, Caroline, Rachel A, and Amber as 2GL this year, though I expect only 3 new spots will be available. Unless I missed the announcement that Miranda is retiring? Looking forward to whatever we get to see of banquet this year and learning who all is retiring. Especially looking forward to Bridget announcing that she has decided to give it another year, in which case, I want to see her as a 2GL and in the triangle!
  6. That "Then & Now" video of Maddie is ridiculous--it's every clip that made her look bad and a scene-by-scene recap of her in TC for 2 seasons, and then we jump to her last solo at auditions. That's it. Why not show her getting GL! Or mentoring/working with TCCs as a vet? Or her doing anything else as a vet? Falling out at Hall of Fame week rehearsal. GETTING POINT. I mean, come on. So ridiculous to do a "Then & Now" of a rookie, and then to do a half-ass job of a longstanding vet. Weak editing. They have plenty of footage to do some great videos! All that video of Maddie did for me is remind me of two long-term things I've not liked about her dancing--her exaggerated faces she makes and her tight kicks, which still are tight (esp her left) for a vet let alone group leader and point. I won't even get started on her hip hop. They better keep splitting point if they don't want to demote her. I would be so bummed to have her entirely as point for a year or more. There are so many gorgeous and fun dancers on that team I enjoy watching so much more than Maddie.
  7. Thank you so much for posting this, @scorpio1031! I have adored Lacey since her rookie season. It's wonderful to see her so loved and happy! I see he proposed on the day my dad had a stem cell transplant, so this was in a period I was off these boards and missed all this entirely. I remember hoping to myself she wasn't marrying some tool, and this video suggests to me they really are perfect for each other. That's 1000x more prayer than I would ever want in a proposal, but that's the point: he's perfect for her and the kind of family and extended family environment she needs and deserves. Go, Lacey! I can't wait to see what beautiful children they will make!
  8. My wishlist for comeback girls in TC this year: Tied for 1st: UCLA Katie and Medeline S. Next: Gina Marie That's it! If cute Lindsey comes back a much stronger dancer, she'd be a very sweet and probably much loved DCC by her team and fans alike. I'd like to see Gina Marie and Lindsey make the team, but I'd love to see Katie and Madeline S as DCC. I like that I really only have 2 faves/significant hopefuls going into this audition, as that leaves me room to develop a handful of rookie favorites who currently are totally unknown to me and therefore will be kind of fun surprises. I am picturing that, when this airs, I'll be at next-level fatigue of isolation and anything new or exciting will be especially welcome. I really, really hope that they don't do a media lockdown on camp this summer! I would love to be able to see pictures and peaks at camp while it's going on. It would be nice to have as something fun like training camp to distract/hold my attention during all this stress and scariness.
  9. If it walks like a nepotist and talks like a nepotist...
  10. I hope Gina Marie comes back much stronger this year, too! She had a lot of performance personality last year and gorgeous eyes and hair, but she also was in way over her head in terms of skill, experience, and maturity. High school dance team captain to DCC is a tough leap to make. You basically have to have the technique and choreographic memory of a Lacey, Jenna, or Holly. Not many 18-year-olds make this team. (I never have been a Cassie hater, but I don't know that I would count her at the same level). Who are some others? Was Raylee right out of high school? Sydney? I can't remember any recently but might be missing some obvious ones. Oh, not so recent, but how could I forget: Abbigail Klein! 💡
  11. Oops--that was supposed to say "college and pro teams"! DCC is Caroline's first pro team. She was a Golden Girl at Mizzou, like Amy Trader, another of my favorites. Both incredibly smart ladies, well-spoken, seemingly well-liked by teammates, beautiful, and fantastic dancers!
  12. I'm not saying it won't happen, but they would be beyond foolish to pick VK for 2GL over women who have been captains of their college and professional dance teams and cheer squads. Daphne (who I think Kelli's had her eye on for a leadership position), Bridget (who I've decided can't retire), Rachel A, Taylor J, and Ashlee (who I'm really* hoping gets 2GL this year or next) all are much more qualified in leadership and team positions than VK. Many more DCC also have more than 1 year's worth of experience on a professional dance team, not just as DCC vets but also on other college or pro teams (Hannah, Brianna, Savannah, Caroline, etc.) I see several of her rookie sisters being far more qualified to be decent 2GLs in year 2 than VK, again, based just off of team and leadership experience (esp. Chandi & Kelsey, 2 of my favorite rookies this year who I think both would be great DCC leaders down the line). I believe VK will be 2GL and GL someday, but I seriously am hoping TPTB can see she needs time to mature, learn how to be a good team mate (which requires more than high fives and going for facials together), and learn a lot more about how the DCC function first. I would think she'll be 2GL by year 3, but I'm hoping not before year 4. Like someone said above, can you imagine VK as a leader for 4-6 years??? 😵
  13. I think they liked Jazmin's personality just fine--Vikki K declared her one of her "best friends" in training camp her first year, so it seems like she'd be in with TPTB in that regard. I recall Kelli telling her how impressive she was. I think it is more her lack of dance technique and training, as she came from a cheer background. She didn't even know how to point her feet in the splits TC. I just don't know that she can overcome her lack of skill to really compete with the vets. I want to see more WOC on the squad, but as soon as Vikki declared them besties, I admit I've been a little put off by her and didn't mind at all that she didn't make it back.
  14. Vets going straight to TC is a boon for Lily and Meredith this audition season, I think, but that does put them somewhat at greater risk for getting cut during camp. I'd hate to see either cut, even though I don't think they're the strongest performers on the team. I hope Madeline S comes back this year and makes the team! I agreed last year that she wasn't quite ready. She had lots of moments where you can see past her technique to her performance spark, but she was shaky with choreography sometimes, and I think the main thing is she needed time to train more in the DCCs styles and push past the fluidity and her comfort zone of her traditional training in jazz, contemporary, vaudeville, etc. She's beautiful, smart, well-spoken, and has such a great attitude. I think if she comes back stronger, she'd make an excellent DCC as performer and ambassador. I love Amber! She grabbed by eye her rookie year, along with Caroline, and both mostly flew under the radar that year. Amber is such a killer dancer, and I love watching them both. I would love an Amber, Caroline, Ashlee triangle (assuming Bridget retires--that's my girl, and I'd want to see her in the triangle, if not at point, over pretty much everyone)! Yes to whoever said bring back the fan vote this year! Or give us something we can participate in and get peeks at to get a sense for the new process and candidates. As for why consider a cheerleading squad if there are no fans, I can think of a few reasons: They are a big part of game day entertainment--typically a bigger part at the games than on TV, but without fans to film in the stands, there's even fewer options for engaging TV during all the down time of American football games. Also, with far fewer appearances and performances outside of the games, and possibly no or fewer games, the Cowboys will be paying each cheerleader a lot less money, so it shouldn't be a crazy financial burden to them that it could be to other teams. Lastly, I think we need all the cheerleaders--literal and otherwise--we can get during this pandemic to help us all get through this. Their function is in the name. It is part of their job to cheer people and offer encouragement on and off the field, and I can't think of a time I've every thought lifting people's spirits, bringing smiles to faces, and cheering people on has been more necessary. I realize fully that, in a pandemic, much of this seems frivolous, but I think that cheering others is always noble and it just seems so vital now.
  15. I think they would have liked to see Taryn again, but I think she really gave her all in her performances and TC, so I don't know that she would have come back with the greater flexibility or performance pop she was lacking. She had it in moments but didn't seem to keep them up consistently. As for this last year's triangle, Amy did far better than I expected, but I am so ready for her to retire! She was among my least favorites of her rookie class, mostly because I didn't care for her look and thought she was a sort of boring dancer, but her dancing and performance improved greatly over the years. I definitely liked looking at her better at point than Maddie, but I did not love point choices for this year. I think Tess should be behind point--that diamond spot would be good for her and easier to balance out the height of the triangle--though honestly, I'd prefer to see Hannah behind point. Lexie was actually the one I enjoyed most in the triangle this year. I like watching Lexie dance way more than Alexis (going back to a discussion several pages back). I think she has the look and performance energy, is a cleaner dancer than Alexis, and to me, always is fun to watch perform. I think Gina would be a better and more worthy point than all of them for this year. They typically don't take point away (unless you're Jenna!), so I predict Maddie will share point again this year and I hope it's with Lexie or Gina. Gina better be in that triangle this year!! Glad her recovery is going so well. I agree with other posters that I'd love for seniority not to matter (we know it doesn't have to b.c Crystal T was point in her year 3), and I'd love for this upcoming 3rd-year group to have a shot at great spots this year. I am not sure when I'll get over Bridget retiring, but it's not today.
  16. Am I late sharing that Lacey is engaged to Trevor Knight?! As of a tweet he sent on April 3, they are getting married in just under 2 months. I didn't see any kind of Tweet from her, but I only scrolled back so far. She will be a gorgeous bride!
  17. I appreciate the exercise and dance combos the DCC have been posting and hope they keep it up! I've incorporated Erin's pilates exercises targeting upper body and Alexis and Rachel A's cardio circuit into my at-home routines and they're great! I am getting my strength and flexibility back as I recover from a series of interrelated injuries and these are easy enough on the body for me to do, but they also are great toning exercises for the more physically fit. More, please!
  18. Agreed! I also think some of those past DCC superstars we remember so fondly were such favorite standouts in part because the overall level of dance skill was less than now. There were plenty of past DCC who were gorgeous and well-trained technical dancers, but I agree that the show has brought more dancers on that elevated level to auditions and the team. Some of the past standouts and technical favorites have been local ladies from Texas and the Southwest region-- . And while the DCC have drawn candidates from across the nation and a few other countries for years, the show definitely increased the draw for beautiful and strong technical dancers from farther away. I agree that, if there is to be a DCC squad next year, it likely will be a veteran squad. And yes, it probably would keep some cheerleaders on the team who otherwise maybe would be cut, but I really love this squad and think they would make an excellent vet-only team. It makes sense, in terms of eliminating the unnecessary risk of spreading the virus at auditions for just a handful of positions on the team, because even when this isolation period ends, there still will be reason to weigh the benefits and risks of larger group gatherings. Also, training camp seems unlikely to happen at any length or intensity on par with past summers. Of course, these over the top training camps are a main factor in how they have elevated the skill and talent of the team over the years of the show to the quality they have now. I would be happy for Christina, Amy, Miranda, Maddie and Victoria to retire, though Miranda has grown on me this past year or so, Maddie surely is going nowhere because what else would she do and why give up being teacher's pet DCC, a nd, of course, VK won't be retiring before she's cover girl, group leader, and PBC. I actively like most everyone on the team, am indifferent to a couple, and
  19. Consider me on the obsessed train with that choreo and video! Agree about Maddie's faces, and while I know she was exaggerating on purpose, I've always disliked her pagent-y performance faces. They are just too cheesy and cutesy while also being really unattractive to me. All the ladies killed it, and while I'm rooting for Lily to make it back, she was the only one who didn't seem to nail it in every frame. She looks great in the post picture, though! Natural and fun. Even Meredith was performing closer to the level than Lily. That said, I have seen Lily shine brighter since she made the team and maybe she still is a slower learner and just wasn't as confident with Jen's choreo. Funny, I didn't even realize no VK. How refreshing.
  20. Malena didn't just have memory issues. She lacks some of the technical foundations and power to excel in auditions and camp. And she seems to lack the recognition that she lacks in these areas, hence her constant, "I just need to clean up those small errors and show them that I'm giving it my all," which we heard in virtually every episode. I agree that she didn't really hear the critiques in camp--and surely there were 1000 more given that we didn't see on the show. Last year, the clip of her in the kickline was painful. She looked as winded as the year before, her face looked tortured--meaning no power or projection--and her feet looked sloppy. I truly hope she's just taking these classes for fun. I don't know how someone who got sidelined dancing for the Jets thought they had a real shot at DCC, but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and there's no room for competing ideas. I wish her the best, and part of that is wishing for her that she doesn't try out for DCC again. I'm still not ready to think that Bridget might not try out again this year. I have settled into the idea that Molly is retiring, which makes me sad, but I saw that Taylor posted on Molly's thread about wrapping it all up after her "junior year" saying she's still sad. So, I take that to mean Molly is retiring. She seems like she was/is a great team member. Any word about Miranda retiring now that she's married? I know DCC don't all quit after marriage, but I was wondering about her. Especially after seeing that she was one of the lowest-ranked vets at auditions last year. Someone please tell me Christina is retiring.
  21. Kyndall eventually got a job at the Star, maybe in the fitness center, but I don't recall the specifics or exact timing. I feel like this maybe was them helping her out a bit, at least until she could get another professional-track job (or maybe she decided to become a personal trainer, IDK). Just because it's not shown on the show doesn't mean that TPTB don't try to make connections for TCCs or DCCs in need of work. I think gymnastics Kat and Milwaukee Stephanie might have had jobs at the Star fitness center for a minute, too, after they left the team? I might be imagining that. Also, right when I was reading the thread about the Kelli mat talk "Cheer" style, my neighbors started fighting and I can only hear her, and she sounds a lot like Kelli, practically hysterical and shredding her vocal chords. But it's not that funny over here, because this lady is not playing and they're often fighting. I'm of the opinion that they should split up. Today, it's all, "I HATE YOU!! BECAUSE YOU DON'T CAAAAARRRRE." Time to turn up the sound on Making the Team to drown this out.
  22. I'm so sorry for your loss, @CrazyMoon, and that it was compounded by family battles. I recognize the sympathetic slant towards the widow, but honestly, Kandi's defense sounds weak to me. Why would a mother not entrust the finances, heirlooms, and schooling of her children to their father? The date of changing the beneficiaries is wildly suspicious to me, and I'd be hard pressed to think that someone who is actively dying from cancer is operating at full mental capacity. If she had been so concerned about what her husband would do with that money and her jewelry, I'd think she would have changed her policy sooner. And if she was that worried about her husband's inability to care properly for her children, including managing their finances, I would think there would have been additional legal efforts to do something about custody. But, to leave him with the care of their daughters and to take away her life insurance policy to make it harder to secure her kids' financial futures--that sounds fishy to me. But yes, as someone posted above, there likely are multiple sides to this story, as with every story. I wish him well and the best for those little girls.
  23. I'd say...about 6 months. Or whenever they release the next calendar. I'd love to see Ashlee or Kristin make the cover, and I'm guessing Kat could be a real contender (if she makes it back), as they love how photogenic she is and she has a killer figure. Have they ever had a black or Latina or Asian solo cover girl for calendar or the magazine?
  24. I just clicked on Sara Parton's Instagram after seeing @Pau84's post and she's great! I noticed that someone claiming to be a scout or something for So You Think You Can Dance responded to her post saying DM them if Sara is interested in auditioning. Is it wrong of me to hope she stays in TX and auditions for DCC? 😄 I see that she dances (or danced, don't know if/when she graduates) for UNT, where Holly Hubb danced. I know some folks on here were not Holly Arielle fans, but I always loved her. I thought she's gorgeous and always looked so crisp and effortless with her dancing. Sara falls into a similar category for me, but she might be a better dancer than Holly Arielle. Even if there were only 5 or 6 rookie spots, I'd think this one could make it. I've already stated my indifference to Bret trying out again, but I'd love to see UCLA Katy back, and she's looking very lean and more toned in the recent pic posted here, so I hope that's a sign she's worked to get fit throughout the year with an eye on auditions again. I loved her dancing, her smile, how positive and composed she was after getting cut, and how sweet she was with her daddy. I'm serious Team Katy over here! I'd also like to see some serious women of color contenders at auditions. This team is profoundly lacking in diversity--and no, Jenn A., hair color doesn't count. Added: I'd also love to see Madeline S come back and be a rock star. I loved her attitude so much!
