  1. I've been rooting for Ellie and Dani to make Show Group since they first auditioned and I hope year 3 is be a big DCC year for both of them. I think Ellie is a CPA, though, so I don't know if her work would allow for SG travel, group leader work, etc. I imagine but don't know for sure that some of the great DCCs' careers impact K & J's leadership choices. Megan was one of my absolute favorite rookies last year, and I'd love to see her make Show Group (and hopefully literally see it on a show next season!). I think KayDianna also would be a powerful contender for SG, given her powerful dancing and exuberant personality and performance style. I think those spots are truly up for grabs in the best way--now that I think about it, I think Kelli, Lea, Klein, and Jada could be serious contenders, too. Somehow, I think Amber is going to be a surprise in year two and come back much stronger.
  2. ITA. That healthy cooking challenge segment also was remarkably and unnecessarily loooong! To your point about cramming in too many guests into the episodes, one thing I did not like this year was how little we got to hear from some guest choreographers (we saw zero roundtable feedback from Evan or the kick coach after their visits, for example), and I felt like that was because they were trying to fit too much into those episodes. Conversely, the episode that featured Denise's 3-night visit was one of my favorites this season because we got to see so much dancing and there weren't lots of other distractions in the episode.
  3. I really like the guest choreographers and think they help liven the audition process and freshen up the choreography! ]Plus, I love hearing their takes on the dancers, both rookies and vets. I feel like they often gave me better insight than K & J, or at least a different professional take on the dancers. I didn't feel they had that many choreographers way outside DCC style the past two years. I think Evan Miller's choreo translates well to the field and that he is one of the guest choreographers they have who regularly teaches an elevated DCC style. For me, the only outlier choreographer they had this year, in terms of those who teach in DCC style, was Travis Wall. There were Brittany P-R and Crisilla, who both are a bit more hip hop but they for sure can draw on her choreo for halftimes and Show Group, Evan, whose choreo Judy says looks great on the field, the kick coach who obviously fits, Travis Wall and his contemporary barefoot that does not fit but I'm sure helps them all grow as dancers, and Denise Dicharry, whose work goes directly onto the field. That all seemed pretty on point to me. But I totally agree that there was a point they had a lot of contemporary choreographers and it felt like, OK, how much technique they won't be using on the field do you really need to see to decide who's on the team? (That said, I love that they had Tyce Diorio! I especially loved hearing his and his partner's thoughts and feedback on the team.) Also, 100%, the CMT guest plugs were awful!!
  4. Woah, I missed this! Details about this eye roll, please! I am shocked on the one hand, but I also am very curious and have always wondered what the deal with Lisa was in relation to the team. I have always wanted to know why none of the group leaders gave her a sticker rookie year.
  5. Favorite & most cringe DDC: MTT moments? A few of mine to start: Some favorites: Jackie Bob getting her boots (& how much Judy loved it); Jensen's whole-team pile-on when she didn't get cut; Tara saying, "Jesus brought the wind, though!" on the practice field. Most cringe: MTT trying to make drama out of Maggie having dry skin; Christina's interview answer to "What does the Star represent?" (her answer: "....the Dallas Cowboys." 🤣); Kitty criticizing women for their "horrible" hair while wearing her mess hair styles with those aggressive highlights and streaks. (Don't get me wrong--Maggie is one of my favorites, but the editing spin on this was cringe+.)
  6. Well, this is kind of shocking news! I, too, join those hoping another platform picks up the show and stat. I have been watching since season 3--and I want to see Ashlee's training camp where she becomes GL and/or point this upcoming summer! 😪 There were 2 jaw-dropping moments for me in that TX Monthly article: 1) Tammy Barber saying: “If I were in AT&T Stadium today,” she told me, “I would puke on the star.” An appropriately damning and honest reflection of how at least some DCC alumni feel about the high-paid peeping Tom locker room settlement. 2) The part about Jerry Jones's 25-year-old love child who is a congressional aide and doesn't want to be bound by her mother's non-disclosure. I totally missed that story coming out, but, dang, Jerry. Seems pretty on brand.
  7. Wow, 28 returning vets. And I like them all! I am really intrigued and excited to see who gets leadership roles and points next year. With so many strong vets, I don't see them going back to one point. And why not share the spotlight? Of this whole group, Marissa is the only one I didn't favor in their rookie year, and she grew on me some last year. Maybe it was because she had fewer talking heads her second season, but she appeared less pageant-y and to interact genuinely with her team mates. She is a favorite of TPTB and will keep getting prime formation spots, but I would think/hope they might pick a more mature vet over Marissa next year for GL2. She still seems so, so young.
  8. Not sure, really. Natalie Wood made it sound like a newish thing that the organization did a wide call for alumni hosts for TCCs, so maybe they are more able to provide that option for those who may want or need it? I don't think Madeline's cut was for VK. I think she was a reasonable cut that year--lots of mistakes and rushing, and a much softer performer than she is now. VK gets all kinds of favoritism and ridiculous passes, but I don't really see the conflict of the "there can be only one legacy when VK is on the team" idea. But, that is just me! It's all speculation, and while we are waiting for auditions to come around, what else are we going to do? 😀
  9. With zero but forum info to base my guess on (gotta love the informed speculators!), I am going with 8-9 spots up for grabs at the start of training camp. Maybe as many as 10. Madeline S could be a struggler who has to prove herself, if she has continued to rush and be imprecise. She dramatically improved from her first time in TC to this year, but I still saw a lot of rushing and her just looking a bit different from the other dancers in the frame in this past TC. Hopefully, she gained confidence over the year and has cleaned that up with experience. I don't want any vets to be cut this year! I am not ready to give VK a "given" spot back, and I just hope Lisa doesn't try out again. She is one of my least liked as a DCC, but of course, I wish her recovered health and ongoing success. With VK, there's always so much hearsay. I am going to wait to see if she shows up at auditions, first, and then, I'll just have to wait and see! If she's a hot mess like her first year in TC, I think Kelli will have no choice but to say no, even if it drags almost to the end like before. If she is in DCC dancing shape, though, I see her making it back and a painful comeback-redemption story line prevailing next season. *prolonged eye roll & sigh*
  10. There is no Jensen hate! I refuse to believe it. 😅 The final office call-in gives me no real concern for her chances at a 2nd year. It absolutely felt like we need to create drama for the show more than anything, because K & J seem to have decided already that they were not cutting her. Her welcome back onto the field from the other rookies and group hug pile-on was one of my favorite moments of the show last season, though. She is engaged, so I wonder if she plans to go more than another year.
  11. ROTY is not all about being the best dancer, but Savannah seems like an exception among the winners in recent years in that most ROTYs go on to be top vet dancers in their more "advanced" DCC years: KaShara, Caroline, Heather O, Kelcey, etc. Since I really like all the rookies this year, there are a number I'd love to see get it: Tyra, Tori, Kellee, Megan, even Klein, who as Judy noted, is an earnest cheerleader for everyone. Each year, I'm happy for whoever gets it, whether or not they'd been a favorite rookie of mine from the show. As others are noting, we see such limited views of the ladies and the team dynamics. For Vet of the Year, I'm guessing Lexi or Amber (Gina already got it, right?).
  12. Totally agree that she is among the less dynamic dancers of a very strong rookie class. I suspect that one thing Jessica excels at that we haven't gotten to see really is the kickline. She was the captain of the Emerald Belles, Lacey's old team. They are killer kickers, she was trained on those intense stretches we saw last season, and I long have thought that must be part of what got her on the team a year before Tori, who I recall had some work to do on some of her kicks her first time around. I suspect Jessica also did way better in the media portion of auditions. For a tall one, they need perfect kickers to be next to/close to Jada/50 yard line more than anything, so I imagine that was the clincher. I just somehow feel like she is going to grow as a performer and become a wow vet. Count me among the votes that this is definitely 100% Jada's hair. It was blonde in training camp, and her hair really is that curly--no extensions needed to get that length. I love her hair like this, but I also love it big and curly. I am less a fan of when she wears her curls more smooshed down--it just is so gorgeous and fly when it's full! Straight hair shows off her pretty face more, I think.
  13. I know a lot of folks here say Jessica is forgettable to them, but there's something I really like about her and I find her a fun performer. I also like the way she appears to interact with her teammates.
  14. They do ongoing Cowboys and football education pretty much year round. I remember Mia at an Oxnard training camp event, where each Show Group DCC sits with a football player and folks come around and get stuff signed by them. They showed Mia chatting with the player, and she told him he was their Cowboy of the week or something that they studied the other week. He then quizzed her about what teams he played for and she named all four. So, Christie on the bus is part of the ongoing ed. Phil was part of the Cowboys organization and DCC auditions traditions long before the show began. He has been leading the auditions dance parties at least since Shelly B. auditioned--the footage is on this forum somewhere. Yes, I believe he is a major figure in stadium security for the Cowboys, and I remember also that he is the main person or one of the main people who curates the art at the stadium, which is fascinating to me and signals a huge deal of respect and trust in Phil by the Cowboys. I think it was @ByTor who posted an informational post or link about Phil's roles with the Cowboys ages ago where I learned that.
  15. I am here for Ashlee at point!! Hope she gets it this year. I also would love to see Caroline or Kelcey at point; Claire would be great, but I would like to see these more senior DCC get it first. I know it's not all about seniority and don't think it should be, but, I've wanted to see Ashlee, Caroline, and Kelcey at point since each of their rookie seasons and my time is running out. I still am mystified by Caroline's seeming demotion last year. I want to see her at least back in the top triangle, if not at point with Ashlee. I don't think getting bumped back up in the triangle this season will be a "Tess Special," though--Caroline always has been a more captivating and powerful performer than Tess. I thought Tess is gorgeous but her dancing was uneven in power or pop to me. Caroline is so clean with her dancing, and there is always something so graceful and smooth about her moves--like Kelcey. My eye went to Caroline over Tess anytime they were on a screen dancing together, and I think C will have earned her triangle position, whereas with Tess, I feel like it was a weird combo of seniority and needing to glam up the triangle for photo ops that got her that triangle position. I would love an Ashlee, Kelcey, Claire triangle (with Dani behind point), and one with Caroline, Chandi, and Armani (with Ellie behind point). I have real preference that the DCC behind point should be tall and VISIBLE in the formation and pictures--I think it just looks way better than when they stick short people or same-height folks behind point. I love Dani and Ellie and am looking forward to them coming up in the triangle. Both got pretty good rookie and 2nd season spots, front lines of the triangle both years. I noticed Ellie and Tyra dancing next to each other a couple of times this season and they look great together. Would love to see them in a triangle together down the line, too! Really, though, I can't see them picking a point or triangle I don't like this year, because I like all the DCC currently. Maddie and Amy were among my least favorite members of their teams, so them at point sucked for me (Amy taxed me way more than Maddie, who at least had solid pop). I like both Gina and Rachel, but I am ready for fresh faces and dancers at point. This will be an exciting shakeup for next training camp.
  16. I always thought K & J liked Angela for the most part! They let her into training camp with a crappy solo and then called her a powerhouse her rookie year, which of course is high praise to get one of Kelli's favorite p-word compliments. Plus, they made her a group leader. That was a strong team with solid vets that year, so they weren't lacking for choices there. I don't know about other background stuff on her besides what is seen on the show, but my read on the Show Group situation was that she's a powerful field dancer but less refined and technically trained (which they love for SG); also, as a GL, she didn't know a dance at all one night and tried to say she was just having a bad day. I feel like the latter incident would put a big ding in someone's chance at SG and the trust Judy has to have in those dancers. So, between not being the best dancer, maybe turning down lots of gigs, and also having a big f-up while not living up to group leader expectations, I didn't even think to look for another reason she didn't make SG.
  17. Thanks for posting that video, @Kamal! I agree, she seems so genuine, and always so full of joy and love for life and people. It is sweet to see her with Jensen and the friendship they have forged in just a year. And I loved hearing Tyra say she wants to be a DCC for several years more! I would love to see her as a group leader and in the triangle or at point. I like this whole rookie class, but Tyra is among my faves, along with Kellee and Megan. Usually, there are one or two in a rookie class who I don't care for as much for one reason or another, but not this year. I would love this to be another year all the rookies try out again. So, I know that Taylor and Amber are retiring. Has anyone else announced their departure that I just don't remember reading about here? Apologies for asking if it's been answered and thanks for the update, if there is one!
  18. Wow, that's Megan P. from training camp! Smoky-voiced Megan. This is damning and dangerous stuff here--and as the lawyer/former cheerleader on the right points out, also criminal behavior--and includes some details I'd not encountered before of allegations against the Washington team/cronies and the Eagles back in the day. Very interesting when the last interviewee, a former cheerleader and director, asks where the hell the directors were in all of this. I really wonder that about Kelli and Judy--and how many NDAs they've signed over the years connected to such situations. I am guessing that K & J also have been made to fear retaliation and losing something very important in their lives and careers if they break the patriarchal club code and do damage to the football organization by speaking up on behalf of themselves or the cheerleaders or protesting too much. In this current case of the DCC, we are talking about a rich organization and family dynasty that allegedly allowed a VP to take up-skirt shots of another VP and the owner's daughter and her father and brother and colleagues let the guy live and keep his cushy job. And probably he only stepped down because ESPN broke the story. So, if this is the disregard and disrespect with which Charlotte is treated, then Kelli and Judy must feel a certain danger to themselves and the DCC. I'm not excusing them AT ALL here, just wondering what exactly they HAVE said and done in all this and what explicit or implicit demands for their silence they all have encountered from the Cowboys org. Yes!! And to build on this, maybe one question should be instead, Why are women subjected to this crap in the first place in so many different sectors of work and society? It's so messed up that the Cowboys felt it more worth it to pay out $2.4M to keep the violated women quiet than fire a predatory piece of crap who allegedly is a repeat offender or do anything to change a sexist, toxic culture and environment.
  19. Yes, I definitely see the point that some of these folks are surprised to make training camp and just wanted the experience. I guess I'm a little hung up on a few people like car-racing Taylor, who seemed so crushed and kind of surprised when she got cut. But again to your point, her kicks were so low, that maybe she, too, just wanted to try out and was surprised she made it into camp, and that made her get her hopes up.
  20. I agree it's a little old to see the same old choreo for the past decade and more! This is one reason I liked how many guest choreographers they've had the past couple of seasons--I enjoy seeing them do new choreography. Regarding the moves not fitting the music at times, one thing I often am unsure of is how often the show replaces the music they're really dancing to with something else. I think this often makes the choreo seem like it doesn't fit the music when maybe it did live. Like on the last episode, they showed the Miller outdoor performance to one song, but it was performed to a Prince song and was just way better on the video with the actual music (admittedly this song is one of their decade-plus staples, but it's Prince so that's more than OK with me!). That said, I am not arguing in the least that the approach of cutting and pasting chunks of choreo to different songs does not always pay off. It's always been a thing to me since I started watching the show.
  21. A different kind of audition speculation. Watching the show, when rookie candidates who say things like, "I've always struggled with my kicks," or, "I've always struggled with choreograhy," I always wonder: Why are they trying out to be a DCC?? I mean, with some, auditioning is just a bucket list kind of thing. But, I'm thinking about candidates who make it to training camp and then are crushed when their insufficient kicks or memory get them cut.
  22. Michelle's look is a little shocking to me, too! Yes, seems quite dated and extreme with the super blonde in front and heavy makeup and pink cut-out top. Whew. It's a look! Rewatching the last season again, and I'm more of a Kylie fan than I was before. I hope she can bring the power and memory, if she returns. I'm thinking they'll keep the online audition for at least the first round this year. It really must open the door to more potentially great dancers. Plus, it helps them regain those lost big numbers from auditions all those years ago! Kelli needs the high numbers. 😅 I wouldn't mind a first episode like last year, skipping to the finalists for training camp. I liked seeing more of the vets and rookies dancing and wasting less time on all the fluff and puff and terrible dancer sequences. I think they could have smoothed out the presentation and explained what they were doing better last year in the opening episode, but I liked seeing solos and the vets in the game right away.
  23. Oh, wow! This was my second season watching the show and I was years away from discovering these forums (or whatever forum it was back in the day) to get this gossip. I am shocked and intrigued, and I agree that there is plausibility given her next audition and attitude when she didn't make it to training camp. She really did seem less technically prepared and flexible the second time around. At the time, I chalked it up to nerves getting the better of her, but maybe it was lack of preparation. She was one of few candidates I can remember who Kitty really loved who didn't (initially) make camp.
  24. I'm not sure if this goes here, but it made sense to me because it's audition-related: In one thread, someone posted a link to this article: https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/inside-dallas-cowboys-cheerleaders-fight-for-fair-pay/. What caught my eye about auditions is this line: "Director Suzanne Mitchell and choreographer Texie Waterman were not so impressed with Dana, but a local photographer acting as one of the judges secured her spot. At the time, each judge had a “trump card” vote they could use on one candidate..." Maybe there are too many judges to give everyone a power card to get a favorite into camp, but I kind of like this idea better than the fan vote they had for a while. I wonder when they got rid of this judging feature, and I think some version of it could be kind of fun.
  25. 100%. I remember one year at first meeting, Kelli said something like, everyone has a title or a crown or a championship--meaning to me, rookies, you only used to be big fish. That would be a very difficult thing to adjust to, I'd think. Some DCC handle it better and with more grace than others, which is always interesting to see. Strangely, I repeatedly looked at those side by side pictures of Madeline and had a hard time telling what might be different and thinking they pics look a lot alike! I also think her face has changed this year (not visible to me in those pics, obvi), and I attribute it to fillers and less-invasive procedures than surgery. I do not think Jaylyn looks as good with her lip fillers as she did without them. She just looks like someone with thin lips that are now full of stuff. Watching her lips move while she talked this season, they just looked kind of strange to me. I'm a Jaylyn fan and I am loving her redemption arc in year 4. I hope she doesn't feel like she has to keep doing stuff to her face to look young and pretty. I think a lot of ladies just want to try it and experiment and think why not, if it is free or at reduced price. Not my cup of tea, but they didn't ask me!
