  1. Two of my favorites were Buddy with his kids. The first was when Lyla told him how "unchristian" her mother was being by not hiring Santiago to do odd jobs around the house. A 10,000 watt lightbulb then went on over Buddy's head as he realized this was his chance to look good to Lyla and repair their relationship. The other was when he was after Buddy Jr returned from living exile in SF with his Mom and tree hugging step father. Buddy mentioned how his step dad loved seitan and called it "nature's meat". Buddy Sr replied that "Nature already has a meat...It's called cow." Loved Coach taking Smash to A&M. I also enjoyed Smash mentoring Matt about women, both at work telling him to tell them what they wanted to order and his "open relationship" scheme to get the gf to break up with him. (Might even top George Constanza's "It's not you, it's me.") Vince's Dad beating down the thug who was threatening Vince and Jess was great, too. I enjoyed every time Coach Taylor called Landry, "Lance" and when he made the FG to beat Dillon. Mac demanding a warrant from the officers who wanted to arrest Smash on the bus and his exchange with Smash when they got home was also one of my favorite moments.
  2. I would like to see season 3 episode 1 end something like this: Dean Norris wakes up in his bed screaming. Guest star Betsy Brandt tries to comfort him telling him he was having a nightmare. He blubbers to her saying "It was awful, Marie, I was trapped under this dome!" "Like a football stadium?", she replies. "No! It was invisible, with pink stars, and hands and lots of butterflies, monarch butterflies. It chose me!" "That's it Hank, no more Schraderbrau before bed! First you had that dream about Walt having cancer and being a drug kingpin, now this!"
  3. It is not a "crusade", I am merely expressing my opinions. I don't really care how Will is remembered or if he is forgotten. I am really anti-Shirin, not pro-Will.
  4. Certainly Will's over the top response to Shirin wasn't smart game play, but neither was Shirin accusation of him or especially her denying him the letter from home. I honestly don't think Will's outburst lost him any votes other than Shirin's (which he wouldn't have gotten anyway). He lost at FTC because he was a mediocre player who coasted to FTC on the coattails of others and because he was not seen as a threat.
  5. But Will's "gotcha" reward turned out to be the 2nd best (or arguably the best) prize. Will then chose to share that prize with the group (including Shirin). After he did that, the least the rest of the group could do is let him have his letter. It cost them nothing. Of course EVERY member of the tribe understood this and voted to let him have the letter, except for ONE petty, vindictive, childish member. As for players in poor shape, I don't think they all need to be athletes, I just thought Will looked dangerously unfit to go through the rigors of Survivor. I feared for his health.
  6. The sandwich comment was obviously a joke. I didn't particularly like Will, and I don't think people in such horrible physical condition even belong on the show, (they are worthless in challenges, and eventually one is going to drop dead on the set.) but I think he way too much has been made of his comments to Shirin (who also has no business being on the show due to her physical and emotional frailty). She called him a food hoarding liar, he called her soulless. They are basically even in my book. Then Shirin, demonstrated what a wonderful soul she has, by denying Will (who had shared all his food with the tribe) his letter from home. That was 10 times as ugly as what Will did, and was also horrible game play, and pretty much summed up Shirin...petty, vindictive, horrible person and horrible player.
  7. Dome of the Dead - The dead of Chester's Mill are reanimated and roam the dome consuming the inhabitants. These would need to be TWD style, flesh eating Zombies, of course, as brain eating Zombies would quickly starve to death in Chester's Mill.
  8. Just started speed watching on Amazon. Ridiculous writing at times but I enjoy it as a guilty pleasure. I love the unintentional absurdity of Norri's family. While I am sure there were a few interacial lesbian couples having babies circa 1997, they were probably only slightly more common than sentient, impenetrable domes appearing over small towns. I was glad to find out that Norri's real name was Eleanor (after Eleanor Roosevelt perhaps?). I was convinced she was named after "Moms'" favorite seaweed. I did find it refreshing that the writers were un-PC enough to have Norri be a messed up kid who was apparently embarrassed by having 2 Moms. (Though given the quality of the writing, it was probably cluelessness rather than courage). I loved when she covered by saying she meant Moms in a slang way, like Pops. Speaking of "Moms", what is up with them shipping her off to a reform school in Maine? Were all the reform schools in California (and Nevada and Arizona...and Ohio...and New Jersey and New York, etc.) full, or were "Moms" trying to put as many miles as possible between them and their beloved daughter? Also, wouldn't Norri have different names for each Mom. Maybe Momma for one, Mom for the other, or Mommy Alice and Mommy Carolyn? Calling them both Mom seems confusing. Funny to see Dean Norris playing the drug dealer hiding in plain sight. I was a bit disappointed that his brother in law wasn't the ASAC of the Chester's Mill DEA office. ;)
  9. Both were superfan misfits, but Cochran was a sort of loveable misfit, who was much more self aware. Shirin was an unbearably annoying misfit who everyone seemed to despise. The 2nd time around Cochran became a very skilled strategist and social player and won at least one challenge . I can't see Shirin going far in her 2nd chance. She is too irritating and irrational to even be carried as a goat.
  10. Regarding 150,000%, yes you can have a 150,000% increase or 150,000% more of something, but you can't be 150,000% right or give a 150,000% effort or be for somebody 150,000%. I believe that is how it was used by the contestants, though I am only 149,000% sure.
  11. Will went way overboard with Shirin, but Shirin started the conflict by falsely accusing him of not sharing all of HIS food with the tribe. She not only accused him of being a liar, she was turning an extraordinary act of kindness into a negative thing, that could have had him voted out. Remember, in the 1st episode Will had chosen the big bag of beans for the tribe, rather than the small one and the advantage in the game, so he had already proven his integrity. Then that annoying, self pitying, useless, nasty Shirin rewarded his kindness by smearing his character and almost getting him voted off. She deserved to have Will rip her a new one, but he did go too far. Then she was incredibly vindictive and petty by denying Will his letter from home. Will was wrong to call her soulless. Shirin has a soul, but it is a dark, compassionless, bitter, twisted, mean spirited, toxic soul.
  12. You are right, men should have no rights and women should never be held partially or fully responsible for their actions. Will was wrong to brutally beat Shirin the way he did. Oh wait, he didn't lay a finger on her or threaten her in anyway. He merely insulted her after she insulted him. Was he over the top? Sure. But if he said the same things about Rodney or Dan, nobody would care much...including me.
  13. I hated Shirin's speech. She rambled on and on and quoted Sue Hawk, like she was Abraham Lincoln or something. Plus, she got Will wrong. Will was more or less dead weight as he was useless in challenges, but he didn't seem to be hard to get along with in camp. Shirin was the "dead fish" whose vile taste the other contestants were willing to put up with for a month to improve their chances at the million dollars. She was also a howler monkey, annoying the tribe with loud, irritating noises.
  14. Will's apology seemed sincere and apparently it was the 3rd one she rejected. Shirin LOVES being a "victim" so she consciously or subconsciously behaves in ways that will make people dislike her and never puts any slight behind her. I feel sorry for her, but even more sorry for the unfortunate people who have to deal with her lunacy.
  15. I can't comprehend how anyone would go on Survivor without learning how to build a fire. It is like going on TAR without knowing how to drive a stick shift.Last week, I saw a group of 9 and 10 year olds learn how to build a fire. It took about 10 minutes for them to learn.
  16. How pathetic was the fire building contest? I had never seen one before and I assumed they would have to do it from scratch, using sticks to create friction. They had flints, knives and husks and advice from Probst and it still took them about an hour. I think the rule should be that if neither person burns through the string in 30 minutes, BOTH get eliminated and they have only 2 at FTC.
  17. LOL! Actually, I think Dan wanted to make himself look good by voting for Mike after he was "real" at FTC. On a related note, someone suggested that Rodney didn't vote for Carolyn because she is a woman. As much as I despise Rodney, I am convinced it was a combination of his alliance with Will and the fact that Carolyn voted for him and beat him that caused him to vote that way. It was bitterness not misogyny, in this case.
  18. I don't recall exactly what happened, but I think Shirin was the one accusing him most strongly or at least the one he heard the most. Maybe he should have gone off on all of them. Also, Shirin made herself an "social outcast" with her constant bizarre and annoying behavior. Also, it wasn't just his generosity, but his integrity that she questioned. She basically called him a liar. And when a person who is starving, just shared his food with the group, and then gets called a liar by a useless, annoying member of the group, who nobody can stand, it is natural for him to get angry. He went way over the top, but he was provoked and he did apologize more than once. She refused to accept the apologies (and apparently LIED in front of millions of people about it) because she is a drama queen. Will had a very bad moment. Shirin's whole existence seems to be an ongoing bad moment.
  19. I never got why what Mike did at the auction was such a big deal. He hesistated and considered breaking the pact, but ended up buying the letter from home. Nobody was harmed in the slightest by what he did. Besides that, anyone who is not willing to trade a letter from home for an advantage in the game doesn't really deserve to win.
  20. He made the comments, because after he generously sacrificed HIS huge food reward to the tribe, the most annoying and useless contestant in the history of the show falsely accused him of being a liar and holding back most of the food.He went way over the top, but she prokoked him and was as bad as he was.
  21. I have to partly defend Will. While he went way over the top in ripping Shirin, we seem to forget that Shirin started the conflict and was way out of line with him. He sacrificed HIS reward and shared the food with her and the rest of the tribe, and she had the gaul to falsely accuse him of holding back some of the food (which would have been his right to do anyway). Perhaps a "victim of domestic violence and verbal assault" should have more empathy for others and should not viciously attack their character, without cause. Also, Shirin was an unbearably annoying person who seemed to be almost universally despised by the tribe. Will was wrong to say what he said, but Shirin owed him an apology as much as he owed her one. With her and "Choas Kass" on the show next season, I don't think I will be tuning in.
  22. "Something with all the fixin's?, Anybody? Re-something with all the fixin's? Anybody, anybody?"
  23. I don't know, but it is definitely wrong that I wished the melons Dan found were poisonous. :) Great episode. Mike is amazing. Good riddance to Dan who was really annoying. Watching Rodney flounder in 2 more challenges and miss out on yet another reward was sweet. I am convinced his muscles are prothstetics as he threw the grappling hook like a 6 year old girl. For his sake, I hope he has a mode beyond, "full force". While I think Dan made a sound choice in using his advantage, I think it might have backfired, as Carolyn seemed to be on the fence about using the idol and I think Dan using his second vote may he pushed her over the top. Was Carloyn really that naive to think Mike was "paranoid" about the alliance voting for her, or did she say that to throw off Sierra? It seemed obvious that the boys would want her out, as she would beat them at FTC, plus cry baby Rodney was angry at her for treating the rewards she EARNED by WINNING as rewards, rather than gifts to go to the most pathetic players.
  24. I got it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_metropolitan_areas_of_the_United_States I do see that it includes Providence RI and much of NH.
