I skimmed through Brandi's book last night because I was thinking that's where I first learned some Gerard Butler details. No luck so far, but I saw an interesting passage in the first chapter. Part of that chapter is available on the book's Amazon page. Excerpted from Drinking and Tweeting: And Other Brandi Blunders (2013)

This took me back to a sad snapshot at the beginning of the Santa Barbara (?) dinner table sucker punch. Intentional/loaded segue into the topic of Denise's acting career. For a nano second the impression that they were being authentically kind to her and interested in her reply flitted across Denise's face. She looked at their carefully bland faces and it was obvious that she didn't trust her impression and also obvious that she wanted to. She answered that one question, they pretended to digest her answer and then BAM what was it like filming a threesome? Again for a nano second, before forging ahead, her face displayed the realization that she erred in not trusting her initial instinct. Security expert and provider of professional bodyguards Gavin de Becker wrote that "Humans are the only animals who are conditioned to deny their instincts." The gazelle at the waterhole doesn't posit that "The lion won't attack me." The gazelle avoids, or runs like hell. A woman gets a hinky vibe from a lone man in the elevator when it arrives but, not wanting to be seen as rude or a bitch, enters the elevator and is raped.

Small piece of advice, hang onto as much of your dad's vinyl as you practically can. I realize that stacks of albums take up room and require temperature control - but there is a niche market for them that perhaps you could glide into later on at your leisure. Vinyl has made a huge comeback and some of the youngs and news prefer vintage, the real deal, rather than new and pristine. Much of that is fueled by an appreciation for the liner notes (sadly MIA today) and the art or photos on the covers. I realize that I'm prejudiced because I grew up in family music stores - but perhaps it is something you could consider. Music is a time machine and album covers even more so. Of all the items offered when we were downsizing my dad for assisted living, his vinyl drew the most interest and he hated turning loose of it - until he counted his take.

There are a couple versions, neither is flattering. The first thing I heard, which I think she said, is that they met at a party and went outside and hooked up on the beach. Second version is that it was a 3 or 4 day fling and much later some paps asked him what about you and Brandi Glanville and his response was Brandi who? Which, yeah, comes off like a dis. But he answered that way because he never knew her last name. He confirmed the no-name thing with Andy on WWHL but IIRC didn't say how long (or how short) the fling was. I can believe that part of him has wanted to divorce her for two years. Both are hot messes and they might have ended up with one of those relationships described as "when it was good it was very good and when it was bad it was horrible." I think there is some truth in his statement no matter how he worded it. -

That is done for "names" of all ages. I read a (considering the subject) very cool article about an obit writer who had reached retirement age. He spent his entire career writing obits at one of the big papers, I forget which one. The digital age has made it a snap but in the olden days ensuring that the obits in the filing cabinets stayed current was an ordeal. He said the young and busy names, and career criminals and politicians, required more of his time than the olds with most of their accomplishments behind them. The EGOT seasons kept him busy because he had to log nominees as well as winners. People with music careers and those who got married and divorced a lot also kept him on his toes. It's a pretty cool specialty, when you think about it. -
That is one of myself's pet peeves also.

Teddi re Denise: This is what she signed up to do, talk about what's going on in her life. Alrighty then, let's talk about some husbands! That's what they're being paid for. Teddi said so. Let the coven sit there and take it while someone leaks about their lawsuits and their rumors about infidelity and bailing on motherhood to be a stripper. Who wants to go first? "Denise Fucking Richards" didn't come out of nowhere and wasn't due to ego tripping. It was said after a pile-on, actually one too many pile-ons. Saying it and explaining why she said it was justified and, more importantly, was true. If you push someone too far they will push back. I figured that out in 4th grade.

My hell, the image of her speaking is even funnier than the image of her marching. "I, I, I, I can't go for that, no oh, no can do."

Are You Ready To Rumble? I hate waiting until 10pm to see the show in my time zone, I already wait a week between episodes. I tell myself to watch before reading here but no one listens to me.

File this under Why??? Does the aroma waft from the bulging chicken thigh on top? Just, no. Crocs and KFC collaborated to create a shoe that smells like fried chicken. Here’s what we know. https://www.deseret.com/entertainment/2020/7/29/21345841/kfc-crocs-classic-clog-jibbitz-fried-chicken

Pretty sure it's the Flats. The Bonneville Salt Flats are a densely packed salt pan in Tooele County in northwestern Utah. The area is a remnant of the Pleistocene Lake Bonneville and is the largest of many salt flats located west of the Great Salt Lake. The property is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and is known for land speed records at the "Bonneville Speedway". Access to the flats is open to the public. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonneville_Salt_Flats

Found it. A special edition of 20/20 called Regis Philbin: The Morning Maestro. -
The challenge is that both eyebrows will align and will begin just above the inner corner of the eye. One down, one to go. You can do it!

I couldn't find it and couldn't find it and then realized it was at the second link. Nice catch. Some people are so creative and the rest of us just plod along. I'm pretty sure I need that hammer and the hatchet.

Yeah, she went radio silent for a good while and finally emerged carrying a random empowerment book with the title conveniently angled for the paps. Did baby need daddy to hold her hand today after the blowback? He who was videoed choosing off a teenager at one of their son's games. He's a real sport and she's a feckless wonder. Gah! -
I blame a lot on the dumbing down of education by school systems and parents not insisting that their kids read. When we went to church or some place where grooming mattered my mom got me ready first and plopped me down with an encyclopedia volume while she got the littles ready. Then we all sat and turned pages while she got ready. Over the last hundred years a high school education has steadily lost its exchange rate for way too many kids. My grandmother was born in 1910 and in her day city high schools offered Greek, Latin, German, Italian and French and math and science (and music) at levels equivalent to a classic education. My mom was born in 1928 and Greek and Latin were long gone but city high schools offered German, Italian, French and Spanish. Four years of math, science and social studies were required and music (which included music appreciation) was greatly favored. I was born in 1950 and in my podunk town French and Spanish were the language electives. Only those who played in the band were exposed to music. Core requirements were 4 years of English and math, 2 years of social studies and one year of science and civics. Electives were in vogue but you could choose to take 4 years of any core. My daughter was born in 1971 and I was floored that she was presented with a menu heavy on electives and what amounted to remedial cores. You could choose 4 years of cores but WTF that 2-3 years of those earned a diploma. My 1968 diploma is the equivalent of the first 2 years of college. When I watched Jeopardy with my daughter and the grands we had to raise our hand before answering and they would say "Again, with her hand in the air" and it didn't compute when I said "I read a lot and I went to high school." They had attended high school and read a fair amount and they weren't raising their hands. Whassup? My impressions may not be typical but they illustrate a trend. Although I should confess that at a recent reunion a classmate said "I remember you reading the encyclopedia for fun." The US should not rank as low as it does. FFS we have the internet now! Pffftt.

I took the text about saving money as a tell, and not in Brandi's favor. From what was presented (which wasn't a defining string of questions and answers) Brandi mentioned the expense of a hotel room and Denise said if you want to save money you can sleep in my room on a rollaway. I think Brandi was fairly certain Denise would make that offer if Brandi pleaded poverty. Mission accomplished (in Brandi's view) as soon as Denise said no problem, we can share. Admittedly, I'm prejudiced and believe Denise over Brandi so that ploy makes sense to me. Did they not talk on the phone or see each other often enough to discuss it? I do not know. But Brandi is no stranger to the long con and that text ended up coming in handy, didn't it?

Your mention of loud talking reminded me of this. I waied for curbside outside Lowe's a few days ago for about 20 minutes. It was busy, by my count only saw 4 without masks. But.. 2 of them, big bearded guys, twice said pedophilia loudly while crossing the parking lot. The rest of it was a drone but pedophilia was loud and clear both times. lt was quite obvious, why did these clowns want everyone to hear it? I know you can't mask with a beard but how about a bandana, amirite? WalMart announced a mask policy but won't enforce it because it puts employees at risk. Old Chinese curse: may you live in exciting times.

I feel for Joy. Going by experience, and maybe I shouldn't, I think it adds to the loss a bit when a loved just slips away even when they are elderly. It's a blessing for them but you are perhaps less prepared. Live every day like it's the last one, say everything you want to say because you never know. Maybe they did that. -
Right on, Sunny. I was so happy to hear her mention people the youngs either don't know about or forget to remember. 1968 was a hellacious year, worldwide. Tommie Smith (gold, 200 meter run) and John Carlos (bronze) stood on the medals podium at the '68 Olympics in Mexico City and bowed their heads while raising a black-gloved fist during the national anthem. They wore black socks without shoes to represent black poverty and long strings of black beads to represent lynchings. Peter Norman of Australia (silver), because of Australia's race issues, shared in their protest by wearing a badge representing the Olympic Project for Human Rights. If you google the photo you see them all wearing the badge. John forgot to bring his gloves and Peter told them to share Tommie's pair so that's why they raised opposite fists instead of two right fists. Smith and Carlos were immediately suspended by the US team and sent home and Norman was unofficially blackballed from all future Games by his country even though he always ran the fastest qualifying times. His last Olympic race was his fastest race, so there's that. In '72 Australia sent no sprinter to the Games rather than send him. Smith and Carlos were pallbearers at Norman's funeral in 2006. Cassius Clay/Muhammed Ali won the gold medal for boxing in the 1960 Olympics. He was stripped of his World Champion Heavyweight title in 1967 when he refused induction into the army, saying "I ain't got no quarrel with those Vietcong." TPTB wasted no time and less than 2 months later he was convicted of draft evasion, sentenced to 5 years in prison, fined $10,000, stripped of his passport, denied a boxing license in every state and banned from boxing for 3 years, which is forever in the prime of an athlete's career. He remained free while his conviction was appealed and in 1971 the US Supreme Court overturned his conviction. And of course he returned to boxing and became the heavyweight champion twice more and still is the only boxer to win that title three times. Kudos to Sunny for reminding people of black athletes (and one white athlete) who protested on the world stage and are recognized today as being on the right side of history.

Maybe we should give them credit for not staying home and walking around Disneyland (in the state with the highest number of cases) without masks. ETA - Wrong info, I didn't verify the date. -

Kim for the ugly cry and a side of Kylie, Kourtney and Kris Jong Un with Stormi, Penelope and North walking around Disney World (in Florida, the state with the second-highest number of Covid cases) - all without masks. I call that Christmas in July. ETA - Disregard, it was TMZ, should've verified the date. Sorry...
