Video of full JB panel at Boston Comic Con on August 13 (posted on youtube by ChristineDoesCons) - partial transcription of Arrow-related comments below... -- On what other DC TV character he would want to play, JB said that he's happy playing Malcolm Merlyn and wouldn't want to play any other character. -- On what was his reaction to finding out he was losing both the League and his hand in S4, JB said that he tends not to look ahead of when he gets a script. He'll get a script and then read it to see what happens. He was "intrigued" because he wondered how he would fight without a hand. He understood why they had him lose the League of Assassins because there was only so much you could do with Malcolm in the League and as Ra's al Ghul. So he had to be "disconnected" from the League of Assassins. -- JB said that he couldn't tell us what's going to happen in the future, although he said: "You did notice that he got his hand back. We don't know if that was a bionic hand or if it was just a prosthetic or if he had just been to Jamie Lannister's house and borrowed something... Crossover episode! I would love that." JB noted that you think Oliver is going to chop off Malcolm's head but he chops off his hand instead. He said that Oliver just can't kill Malcolm and that he knows why and sometimes uses that against Oliver. The reason, according to JB, is that Oliver knows what it's like not to have a father and Oliver doesn't want that to happen to his sister. "So no matter what crap I put you through, you will put up with it. And you will deal with it... No one knows what kinds of stashes I have put away." -- JB said that, if you've read The Dark Archer comics that he and his sister wrote, then you know that there's another secret that Malcolm's hiding, which was the impetus for those comics about Malcolm's back story: -- On how he prepares for different roles in different shows, like going from Doctor Who to Arrow, JB said that he doesn't analyze it that much. He doesn't get a script and "go, 'okay my motivation is this,' blah, blah, blah." Instead, he learns his lines, "gets in front of the camera and listens to the other person who's talking to me, and I answer them." Usually, if he does that and "plays the personality and plays the words," it works. In terms of going from Captain Jack to Malcolm, it wasn't that much of a stretch because he doesn't have a problem "being an asshole." He said that Captain Jack was a hero and playing him completely changed his life. He also said that playing Malcolm also completely changed his life because the Arrow EPs were Doctor Who fans. He just puts on the costume and plays the part and has no problem doing it without deep analysis. "I don't know if that makes me a good actor or a bad actor." However, "seeing the response from people who love Jack and people who love and hate Merlyn," he though he was doing okay. ETA: At the end of the panel, JB hinted that he was in talks to be in a Broadway show.

See, if SA has performed Broadway musical songs before on stage, why is he so reluctant to do so now?...

You may remember that Greg Berlanti was an honoree at the Alliance of Women Directors Awards & Benefit Gala on April 28, 2016, at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, for his support of women directors. Here's video of GB comments at that event (he was introduced by Julie Plec) - posted by TraipsingThruFilms on youtube...

Thereabouts, I assume. Consistency doesn't seem to be a priority for Arrow.

It's official - Suicide Squad dropped 67% in its second weekend, although it was #1 at the weekend box office again. I thought this was a good article (fyi, the writer is not the guy who does the Arrow reviews)... That's a good point. I didn't even consider the military possibility but just assumed Lt. Conahan was a cop. I'm also hoping that the boyfriend is something that's Flashpoint AU only. Like maybe a reason why Oliver & Felicity didn't get together during the 5-month hiatus. Since Barry did what he did in the spring, the Arrowverse has been living in this AU since May. I agree that Malone is a good possibility. FYI, Tyler Ritter did shoot a nighttime scene with Adrian Holmes (SCPD Lt. Pike) for 501 or 502: ETA: Now that SDCC and TCA are over, I'm starting to organize all of the S5 spoilers that I've collected (for posting here). There's a lot more material than you might expect. Part of the problem is that there are a lot of variations on the same spoiler, with minor but sometimes significantly different nuances. I'll first organize them by topic, so that we can figure out who's who and what's what. Then when it gets closer to October, I'll organize them by episode.

Tyler Ritter is playing the recurring role of Detective Malone, a new addition to the SCPD. He was in the Arrow production offices on July 12. Ritter also appeared in an instagram pic with James Bamford and Adrian Holmes that was posted by Holmes (who plays Lt. Frank Pike) on July 23 with a comment about a "night shoot". There has been no news announcement (as yet) about Ryan Williams or about who is playing Felicity's boyfriend. This new speculation is based solely on @Sunshine's post above (about a pic of Ryan Williams being captioned "Felicity's boyfriend" and reportedly on the Arrow set for a day) and on Ryan Williams' IMDB page indicating that he's playing a Lt. Conahan in 501 of Arrow. So, two different cops. We don't know for sure if either, or neither, will be Felicity's boyfriend.

After watching his demo reel, I think Ryan Williams comes across as more genuine than BR and more mature than GG. He could be a serious threat to Olicity if he has on screen chemistry with EBR. As for the lack of news announcements, it could be that the EPs wanted to surprise viewers and also not have viewers predisposed to dislike him, if he just appeared in 501 and we saw how he interacted with Felicity first. But maybe we're wrong and he isn't playing Felicity's new boyfriend at all, but just another SCPD cop.

This is interesting - old pics of SA, KC, EBR, WH, DR, CH, PB, JB, ST, MB, BR and GG when they were younger (posted by First Last on youtube)... This pic must be from S1, but I never saw it before...

Ryan S. Williams' IMDB page lists an Arrow 501 credit (previous credits include Motive, Copper, Beauty and the Beast and Nikita)... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3466475/ I couldn't find his height, but from his demo reel below, he looks tall. And I believe these are his twitter and facebook accounts (follows Elysia Rotaru and there's a follower called @TaianaIsMyQueen)... https://twitter.com/ryslife https://www.facebook.com/ryan.williams.169405 If so, then he looks more like the comics Green Arrow than SA...
