  1. I think we'll see Elizabeth if and when the show survives past Francis's death and goes to Scotland. I think even for this show it's stretching too far to have Elizabeth, on her unstable throne, leave England to go to across the sea to a land where everyone essentially wants her dead. There's absolutely nothing that could be worth that risk. If the show had stretched Mary Tudor's life even longer they might have been able to swing Elizabeth being sent to French court as a gesture of her sister's goodwill, but that ship has sailed. Back in Scotland though Elizabeth and Mary will be much closer to each other geographically and could meet under circumstances that could at least make some sense. Peace talks, maybe.
  2. Nolan's been bi since the get-go. He even described himself as "a three on the kinsey scale". Plus he had a relationship with a girl in season two, I think.
  3. Ew! So no, it's not just you anymore. I can definitely see that and I cannot unsee it now.
  4. They weren't arranged, I think that was brought up several years ago. I think his father was commending Raj on not being stupid enough to marry for love and Mrs. Koothrapali went, "We married for love!" Which made his dad seem really uncomfortable. I'm so sorry for the loss of Carol Ann Susi, and for possibly the loss of Mrs. Wolowitz. My father had an extremely (EXTREMELY, it was freaky, us being Jewish, them living together for way too long -- although that was more the soviet union for ya -- and him being an engineer) similar relationship with his mother that Howard does. I still remember that Papa would visit my grandmother every single day, and when he would bring me along I'd see how he'd open the door, yell to his mother that he was there and included an insult, they would bicker good-naturedly and she would feed him. Papa was absolutely devastated when she passed away, even though we had several weeks notice before the end came. Howard losing his mother suddenly would be really hard to watch, I think.
  5. I've been thinking about Stefan and his attitude towards Caroline, and I agree it's coming from a place of self-loathing. But also I've been thinking -- his "true love" (or one of them anyway) ditched him for his brother about two years ago. Since then, despite this show's reputation for romantic Musical Chairs, Stefan has had what; some encounters with Rebekah and a short-lived fling with Ivy, that was never supposed to get serious? And despite everyone assuming she would jump back into Stefan's arms (that was back when everyone thought it was the sire-bond keeping her with Damon), Elena shows no interest in rekindling the relationship. Does she even remember why he broke up with her? Without the whole, "you're in love with my brother and I can't deal with that anymore", why would Elena and Stefan have broken up when they did? Overall, I'm thinking that Stefan is still suffering from a massive blow to his ego, romance-wise, and he didn't exactly love himself from the beginning. He obviously considers Caroline to be the best there is of vampires right now, so I can see why he'd never even presume to think he was worthy of her. In any case, I have a feeling that Stefan is going to be instrumental in bringing back Bonnie. He is, after all, the only one Damon told about what really happened, plus it was stated that he did get in contact with the Gemini coven when he was searching to bring back Damon and Bonnie himself. That was a dead end (I mean, would they even know that Kai's prison suddenly got some new inmates?), but at least Stefan knows where to find them. And if Stefan brings back Bonnie, I'm pretty sure that will be the moment Caroline completely stops hating him.
  6. This episode was so good in so many ways, but having just seen it I can only say: KUVIRA JUST PUT HERSELF WITHIN 20 MILES OF TOPH. I cannot stop cackling at the possibilities.
  7. I stand corrected, according to the official cw website closed-captioning, Catherine calls the girls "Emone" and "Henriette" (good ear, brisbydog!). Why in the hell those names are better than Joanna (or Joan, depending on the source) and Victoria escapes me entirely. Especially Henriette -- Catherine and Henry already have a son named Little Henry! So there goes my theory of the show changing names so that they aren't similar.
  8. Was anyone else expecting Bonnie to shoot herself up with adrenaline during the hospital scene? I'm surprised she didn't just spontaneously recover in a few hours the way Kai did.
  9. I don't think she called the twins anything. I rewound several times myself and Catherine mumbled a bit, but I think what she said was, "you're wrong, Henry had...". I'll need to see with closed captioning. They were my favorite part of the episode (cause called it! Woo!), though I wonder about that red flower. I know the story of Joanna and Victoria is gruesome and sad but this is one place where Catherine can be considered blameless, unless they somehow tweak history (which, of course they will, right?). Even Henry would be almost blameless as well, if it was he who ordered the physicians to save Catherine's life as opposed to the babies'. It was an awful decision to make but it was justified. Speaking of names, ever since I heard they were bringing Claude in, and the direction they were going with her character, I've suspected Reign would pull a Tudors and merge the two sisters. The real Claude was Catherine's favorite, and Margot was a handful and a half. They might be waiting on introducing Margot (although considering the timeline of the show, they have little time left in French Court to do that) because she's so infamous, but I suspect strongly that the producers, again, pulled a Tudors and melded the two because "Margot" and "Mary" sound too alike, and so they decided to use Claude. Maybe. Goodness knows after the whole ladies-in-waiting naming idiocy they've proved they certainly think the audience won't put up with names repeating or sounding alike (they renamed Mary's uncle too, as I recall.) I can't even with Mary, but I think Francis is starting to go too far in keeping the secret. As Narcisse points out, Mary was just as willing to kill Henry herself. I was getting very pissed at the writers when they said that Caroline had died and Francis freaked because I thought "uh, now it's just Narcisse's word against Francis's, (well, and Montgomery's, but I bet it would be easily believed that Narcisse paid him to tell tales) this is actually a good thing", but they made up for it with Narcisse mentioning Mary and Catherine's plot. Of course, since as mentioned, he has brought up that Catherine and Mary are both dirty, Francis may as well just tell both of them. Catherine could destroy the man with one hand behind her back. I don't know what to think about Lola. The Narcisse thing is still skirting the icky for me. I really like the idea but I'm not quite feeling it onscreen. LOVE how hard Lola slapped Narcisse though. I miss Greer, and was sorry to see that she only appeared long enough to be the face of The Coming Terror Upon the Innocent. As for Bash and Claude, I would love if this show went on contrasting Mary/Francis with Bash/Kenna, showing the latter couple functioning despite all odds, while the "fated" couple falls apart over lack of communication. If Bash just fesses up I wouldn't put it past Kenna to go, "Welp, so we've both done some freaky things in the bedroom." And then turn her nose up at Claude.
  10. Couldn't think of a wittier name for the thread so I went with the idea from Three Queens about actors pretending to be the Royals. I'm totally open to any other ideas! Anyway, I'm not sure how well this is known, but apparently Toby Regbo was the (uncredited) young Albus Dumbledore in Deathly Hallows, Part 1!
  11. NOTE: Reign airs on Wednesdays in Canada, meaning that the episodes are very often viewed a day before they have aired in the US. Therefore please be aware that this thread will almost definitely have spoilers for those who wish to wait until Thursday night to view the new episode. 12. They burn in the sunlight because the magic of their rings stop working. I assume they burn faster than the anti-magic barrier can turn them back into sunlight-resistant humans. It was night, so burning was not an issue. They were bleeding because crossing into the border removed the magic that made them vampires; they turned back into their human selves as they were the moment before they turned; in other words, dying. Stefan and Damon were both bleeding from the bullet they each took courtesy of dear old Papa Salvatore, and Enzo had died of TB, which made him start hacking up a lung, I guess.
  13. It's early, but there's already a sneak peek up on the official site. Sneak Peek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDaO0SG9E7U
  14. New Sneak Peek! http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/legend-of-korra-220-clip-579873451.html
  15. Loved the elevator scene and the confrontation scene, but I hate that they kept ignoring the elephant in the room: Daniel: You used me and broke my heart! You owe me some mercy! Emily (I wish): Yeah and you shot me three times and left me barren. I'm showing you mercy by not breaking your neck while all these security cameras are out. Seriously, how could the part about him shooting her off a damn ship not come up?
  16. Glad to see that Dark Korra wasn't just a fleeting idea for the first few episodes. Man, that shot when Kuvira lifted her head and it was Dark Korra creeped me out! It was tough watching Korra get her ass handed to her by Kuvira. I always liked that she was such a skillful bender, despite her deficiencies in other Avatar-y areas (that season one "whose the half-baked avatar now, bitch?" -- paraphrased -- is still one of my favorite Korra moments). I hope that when she gets a rematch with Kuvira that she wins on her own strength alone, without the avatar state. Love that Varrick was willing to go down with his creations. Who knew he could be so badassedly noble? As far as Zhu Li's concerned, I'm starting to think she might have been somewhat sincere when she pledged her loyalty to Kuvira. I'm not sure if this is going in a "Zhu Li stayed on as a spy on purpose" thing or a "Zhu Li makes up for her betrayal later on" thing. I seriously doubt she'll stick with the bad guys in any case. Suyin pretty much screwed herself with the attempted assassination, and there's not much that can help now. Kuvira is technically in the right at the moment. I think the next stop on the "bring Kuvira down" mission is to go to the prison camps. Either to bust everyone out or at the very least document their existence and expose it to the world. After what Ozai tried to pull on the Earth Kingdom in the first series, I don't believe the new world order doesn't have "crimes against humanity" laws. Then again, this could lead to another world war against one nation, so I'd say that news of the prison camp conditions need to be spread throughout the Earth Empire so that Kuvira loses her backing.
  17. From Three Queens: Kenna: Legally, Bash even owns my coal sticks and lip rouge, although I'd like to see him try and take those away. Catherine: The nobles are just one leg on the three-legged stool that holds up France. If ever that stool goes down, you and I will end up flat on our royal fundements. *peasants revolting in the background* Mary: Perhaps we could talk to them, hear their grievances. Peasant: Kill the Royals! Catherine: Perhaps not right now. Mary: It was a foxhole! Catherine: Badger! Mary: Fox, and how would you know? You didn't even see it! Catherine: I saw it after my foot got caught in it! My feet are too dainty to get caught in a foxhole! Catherine: So you had an overwhelming need to pray to the patron saint of bearded ladies. Mary: ...There's a physician, in Beauvais, who is celebrated for his knowledge of women's problems. Catherine: I assume you mean fertility, because other than that no man has an inkling about women's problems. Catherine's very impressed observation of the faux!royals: It is a masterful exploitation of a weakness. Peasant Man: Your Majesty, is it true Queen Catherine once threw an entire family of hatmakers into the dungeon? Peasant Woman: Yes, I heard they cheated her, and she nailed their eyes open so they'd always have to see their deceitful bills! Catherine: Where do these stories come from?! It was one man, and I only stretched him a little. Nails, indeed! *sees Mary's face* First, you should know he was a terrible, terrible hatmaker. Mary: If I learned one thing at French Court, it's always keep a dagger on you. *Mary pulls a dagger out of somewhere. Catherine rummages around and pulls out a sharp, two pronged hairpin.* Mary: Poisoned? Catherine: Oh, you say that so hopefully now. Sadly it's not. I don't carry poison everywhere! I might accidentally kill myself.
  18. It's currently being tossed around from hand to hand in New Orleans on The Originals.
  19. I think Stefan's making a kind of classic mistake in assuming that what he did was so bad the the apology part can go unsaid; that maybe he feels it's obvious that he's sorry and doesn't think saying the words would be enough. And they might not be, but it's where he should start.
  20. I'm just wondering if anyone is gonna bother trying that cure again. Stefan (and more surprisingly Damon, who I had the impression had been killed almost instantly) lasted a pretty impressive amount of time across the border while bleeding out. If Dr. Jo was so inclined, he could very well cross the border, have his bleeding stopped long enough to get surgery, and voila, human. (But I would personally do it at like the very edge of the border so if it didn't work Stefan could be yanked back to the still magic-y side before he died. Enzo's saying he died of consumption seems off to me. Wouldn't vampire blood be able to heal or at least slow down a disease like that? He must have gotten that final shot of vampire blood at the very last second before he died.
  21. I haven't even clicked play on that sneak peak and I already like it! Edit having seen it:
  22. I actually kind of hope he does confront/taunt her, because he has no idea what she could do to him. As long as he's known her she's been a moderately fragile (especially when he was shoving her around after shooting her) woman who owned a gun for home protection. The real woman could kick his teeth to his balls. And I would like to see that. Very much. One kick for each gun shot wound, at least.
  23. NOTE: Reign airs on Wednesdays in Canada, meaning that the episodes are very often viewed a day before they have aired in the US. Therefore please be aware that this thread will almost definitely have spoilers for those who wish to wait until Thursday night to view the new episode. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPt8VUgqL8Q&list=UUPWQWav6BpPvtanCtloXkiw Producer's Preview (some spoilers): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VtyiPYgi0g&list=UUPWQWav6BpPvtanCtloXkiw Thoughts: The only thing that came even close to matching Megan Follows' performance were Adelaide Kane's reactions. I love how when Catherine says a line that, a year ago would shock Mary, Mary's face is just like, "fuck it, it's Catherine." I do wonder how many takes the hatmaker dialog took, cause I was laughing my butt off! The only thing that was a little off the mark for me was the running joke about her always wanting to eat. Years ago I read a book on Catherine De'Medici's young life and I'm pretty sure she came close to starvation at some points while she was held hostage as a girl. At least she wasn't nearly as well-fed as now. Loved the historical in-joke of having the fake Mary have the real Mary's red hair, and the additional mention that our Mary didn't look tall enough. (The real Mary of Scots was described as being quite a tall woman.) This was a good break from all the heavy drama, but I'll admit that I wanted it too be farcical to the last, with Francis just walking into the tavern while the fake royals were doing their shtick and everyone freaking out and bowing in the proper direction. (And honestly Mary, it's sweet you wanted to give the poor girl a job, but in these cases I'm pretty sure you need to behead imposters. Like, that would be medieval standard.) But it was an interesting twist that Elizabeth was behind it. Francis should employ Catherine to come up with some kind of equally bizarre and dirty revenge. I'm amused as always to be for once rooting against Queen Elizabeth in a Tudor-era piece, although I don't hate her. Otherwise, I liked Kenna and Lola 's interactions (and especially Kenna's assertion that Bash would basically get her makeup over her cold dead body). Poor Lola, being disowned. As for Narcisse, I was all for him being sexy and sweet while, again, also being a bad bad man, but the bath-taking thing crossed the line into skeevy for me. It was sweet that he helped her out with the money before the bath part, but still. Ick. I like where this possible relationship is going though. Lola may turn out to be Mary and Francis's secret weapon against Narcisse.
  24. I was just rewatching and something occurred to me: Bataar Jr. doesn't seem to be a bender. There's this very deliberate shot where you see him buttoning his cuff (with a metal button) by hand early on. Later in the episode he's seems super aggressive in his mecha-suit. And it got me thinking -- if Su had 5(?) children and two of them weren't benders, how would the nonbending child feel, especially one of several boys? Opal was the only girl in the family and that probably helped any feeling of inadequacy she had. But three years ago, Opal started bending. I think I'm starting to see why Kuvira was able to win Bataar over -- she went after him when he was probably feeling the weakest of his whole family. Looks like the drive to be better than the benders might be influencing Bataar a little too much...
  25. This show just does Halloween really well. I myself am partial to Fort Night and am still waiting for Millie to come back (also for Jessica, from Slumber Party)! One thing I really liked about this episode is how we can really see that the show has settled Louise's character. Where she used to be cruel and completely shameless, in this episode we saw her a soft spot for her siblings (especially Tina). She'll mess with them, but she knows when to stop. I bet if she had told Tina personally the two of them would have ended up pulling that last prank together. I'm still glad Tina did it alone, though. Take that, Jimmy Jr, Mr Dismissive!
