These writers are hacks and often do nonsensical, dumb things, but since they already broke Oliver and Felicity up and spent time on that last season, it doesn't *really* make sense to spend any kind of screen time on it this season if they're just going to wind up where they already were. They spent time on it last night, even if it was about 30 seconds, and there's that 5th episode that is gonna be...whatever about them. So my guess would be that Oliver's "I don't know" will be answered at the end of the season in a positive way. There just isn't any point in showing a boyfriend after that statement, and then having an alleged "Olicity" episode in 5x05 just to repeatedly hammer home that they're over when they already did that last season.

I legit wasn't even entirely sure that the guy in the loft WAS the cop for a second there, since his Ken doll hair was so different than than how we'd seen it before then and they showed him at an angle that made him look only slightly less bland for a sec.

I doubt it - the EPs have teased some changes to the Arrow folks and mentioned that Felicity would be "carrying something" regarding Flashpoint. I think they were holding off introducing any of the Flashpoint stuff until Felicity appears on The Flash next week. I'm guessing Felicity will ask Barry what changed and will list off stuff about her, Diggle, Oliver or whoever, and Barry will tell her what was different in the original timeline that he messed up. Then she's gonna have to live with the knowledge that things were at one point different, but not be able to tell anyone about it. To what end? IDK.

Yeah. I'm not sure if it's because it was spoiled or out of left field or people assuming it's Flashpoint or whatever, but that's one "twist" that doesn't seem to be getting a whole lot of traction. It hasn't even been spared much more than a sentence in any of the reviews I've read.
