  1. I feel bad for Justin and all but please just stay the hell away from Jessica. He's not redeemable for me in that relationship. He needs to move on and become a better person, with someone else.
  2. The scene where Clay imagines what he would've said if he had stayed is everything I've been waiting for since reading the book. For me it was a major what if and to see the possibility acted out like this was tragically bitter sweet. Great Scene. Both actors were devastatingly good.
  3. I think with this being tape 2, the expectation is that things get worse and that these first few incidents have a spiraling effect
  4. Clay taking the tapes slow is completely understandable to me. Hearing the dead girl you loved talk to you from beyond the grave is a lot to take in. What is annoying, but likely the product of the TV show structure, is the constant threats to not listen further and the demanding that people tell him what the tapes say.
  5. Clay finally opening up to his mom was one of the best scenes of the series so far for me. I don't know how she didn't drop the case as soon as she got home. There is no way you can represent the school and potentially go after your son's friend after she commits suicide. Add on that she's putting the pieces together that he was in love with her and it shouldn't be a question. I'm sure she'll come to her senses. I don't think Hannah's inaction regarding the rape is excusable but she accepted responsibility. At that point, thats all she could do.
  6. I read this as Tony has been helping Hannah's parents try to understand what happened or help them in their lawsuit. At this point, we now know he was at the house right after the suicide so they may have been like "who are you and what are you doing here?" In the limited flashbacks we've seen Hannah and Tony haven't looked particularly close but definitely cordial.

Fair point, and I'm 100% positive if someone pointed this out to the creators, they would add in a number of new characters to represent whatever group is thus far underrepresented.
  8. I was speaking more putting this into practice in the real world. While I am enjoying this show and can relate to the characters and how difficult that time in life is, this is Fiction. Just wanted to add, that I desperately wanted Hannah to find out Clay was drawing the rabbits for her. But I guess if things like that happened then maybe we wouldn't have a show cause maybe she'd still be alive.
  9. I know most probably disagree, but please don't tease me like that.
  10. For me, Zach not throwing away the note is a bit of a red herring. Its distracting. At the end of the day he stole those notes. He found that letter Hannah wrote and he knew what she was going through. I completely understand him not knowing how to deal. But to stay silent is unacceptable. He deserved this tape. This seems small but when I think about it, if I were having these depressing thoughts and I reached out to someone and they just ignored me, it would be soul crushing. As for the compliment bags, I think you are assuming the worst in teenagers that it would automatically lead to abuse. I won't deny that it is possible. But if the teacher had created a safe space for these kids to be open then I think it could work. I think the more likely scenario is that the kids who really need the help wouldn't get anything as they would continue to be invisible. Although, in this case, Hannah wouldn't really qualify.
  11. I don't know how the actors playing Hannah's parents do these parts. I watch their scenes and I can't understand what their going through. Like, I can't imagine being relatively normal parents of what seems like a nice young woman who kills herself. How would they feel? What would they be thinking? Every time I try to think of answers to those questions I can't fathom the answers.

    S02.E17: ODYOKE

I've said this before but this show's commitment to diversity is really distracting. As someone who picked which college he attended based on diversity, I don't want to harp on this too much but now we have a Spanish national as the speaker of the house's chief of staff. Maybe that in and of itself isn't too crazy but you couple it with the south african lawyer the CIA recruited, the mexican national/criminal the CIA recruited, the half american/half indian the FBI and CIA recruited, the englishman the CIA brought over and gave unlimited access too, the two muslim twins who I can't recall where they're from but clearly have an accent that is not American and you have way too many people involved at the highest levels of national security who have questionable ties to the US. Also, the moral high ground these clowns were taking was really annoying. A muslim registry is idiotic but it must be nice to live in a fictional world where muslim terrorists don't commit acts of terror and instead its always some grand conspiracy involving old white men. Maybe if the creators took half a second to dwell on the utter devastation this fictional US has endured it would make a little more sense to see why that conversation was happening. New York has been attacked twice, the President was assassinated, a mall was blown up, the FBI training center was attacked, its no wonder this citizenry is scared out of their minds. And this has only been in the last 2 years or so. I also wonder if the show writers care if Republicans watch their show because they spent about 2 minutes of cumulative show time just shitting on them.
  13. I don't think it had been mentioned before and if it had it certainly wasn't conspicuous.
  14. This show desperately needs a second love interest for Megan that is more legitimate then this clown director. Megan/Kyle have real hurdles in their relationship and Megan has real reasons for questioning wanting to be with him. The show shouldn't wed istelf to this pairing as an otp. But thats what it seems to be doing despite Kyle being a borderline sociopath.
  15. Tyler's lack of self-awareness was a little jarring. He really doesn't seem to understand how creepy he is.
  16. I really liked this episode. I am loving being able to see so much more of the Clay/Hannah relationship as compared to the book. Its really bittersweet. Ok, that may be an understatement. It's heartbreaking but I love their chemistry. I was also dying for Clay to tell his mom who Hannah was to him. I also hope that plot line doesn't get dropped. Clay is carrying a lot right now but watching his mother dig up dirt on Hannah and help the school would be over doing it. She needs to know the truth.
  17. I don't know. Without getting too spoilery, I would think Clay would be the person she would want to notice the most.
  18. Yea, he definitely downplayed it. It wouldn't have made a difference had he kept it a mystery. At no point, while reading, did I care how she did it.
  19. Maybe, I'll understand more as I go along in the series. I didn't think there were scenes that were Clay imagining what could've been or could've been said.
  20. I really liked this first episode and really liked Clay/Hannah. I thought the actors did a nice job with them. I do have one small critique and I'm a little unsure whether I can discuss it or not. But I was a little taken aback when they showed the flashback to Clay complimenting Hannah on her shorter hair. Having just read the book, that was something that resonated with me when she told everyone listening that they never noticed or at least they never mentioned her chopping off her hair.
  21. They did say how she killed herself. She swallowed pills
  22. I hate to be the one to tell you this but your research on Northern Virginia landfills is way more research then anyone associated with this show has ever done. I wouldn't think about things like that too hard.
  23. I think thats one way to look at it and certainly reasonable. I think Lara looks at it differently though and in a much more self-assuring way. I think Lara looks at it like no one sacrificed a dime to help them so why should they. In this case Axe would have to take a hit to not screw this town over. Lara is thinking, no one else was willing to do that when they needed a break. I also wonder if at the end of the day most people would understand that it was their stupid politicians that did this. Bruno's sleazeball nephew actually put the town in this position.
  24. That's interesting because I think I agree with you. The public perception might be that 9/11 was worse but intellectually I think its the other way around. Thinking more about Lara, I might be more inclined to want to watch her if she went full Villain. I found her more interesting when she gave that little speech to Axe saying everyone else could fuck off.
