If you call the number listed on Q's calling card, you get an outgoing message that the Q Continuum can't come to the phone and that it's pointless to leave a message since they already know why you're calling. I wanted Tallinn to have a cat.

I Expect You To Die got a sequel with its own Bond pastiche, this one a take on "Thunderball" as compared to the first one's "Skyfall."

She was also one of the best parts of the Marvel's Hulu series Runaways and the first season of Bosch.

Star Trek IV showed us the 80s, Voyager showed us the 90s, Enterprise showed us the 00s, and DS9 already showed us 2024. What we've been shown thus far is pretty consistent with the themes that DS9 explored.

Hell, “The Late Philip J Fry” is one of the show’s all time greatest.

I don't usually watch The Ready Room, but Lea Thompson was the guest this week, and I highly recommend checking it out. She and Wil Wheaton had a great conversation. Turns out, she's a proper Trekkie too.

What's inside the Tan Zhekran: Speculations
starri replied to MissLucas's topic in Star Trek: Picard
Just bumping this so as to not derail the episode thread. but Guinan has a line "You're looking for a Supervisor, also known as a Watcher." "Supervisor" was Gary Seven's title. Oh, does that open up some possibilities. -
I'm not much for shipping, generally, but I will absolutely ship Seven and Raffi. Great chemistry, unapologetically queer, and both of them are over 50. Any of those individually is a rarity on TV, so to have all three at one... My favorite part, though, was how it happened because someone took a picture of Jeri and Michelle together and when they saw the finished product and how gorgeous they looked together, they asked the producers to lean into it.

My mind went to Gary Seven as well. To my mind, it would be deeply cool if this had anything to do with that. The beta-canon said his employer was a group of aliens called the Aegis, who were, like the El-Aurians, sensitive to changes in the timeline and took it as their mission to protect it. I'm not holding my breath that they'll make that actually canon, but I can dream.

The Julia Child Challenge - General Discussion
starri replied to Yeah No's topic in The Julia Child Challenge
While I don't think she's going to win, Elena might be emerging as my favorite. She's adorably dorky, the proposal to her wife was cute, and despite what's clearly a lot of anxiety, she seems determined to have fun. And her utter lack of shame of taking big bites of things. While I know doing so well in the first thing saved her, I felt really bad for Britt. She clearly knew what she was doing (Christina, frankly, didn't), and just had lousy luck with the piece of chicken. This is the first American competition show that really replicates the experience of watching GBBO, That's the highest possible praise I can give it.- 157 replies

Just like with Dewey. I enjoyed it a lot. As good as the first two? No. But still better than 3 and about even with 4. I was honestly okay with Dewey dying, just because I think it would have felt very cheap if all of them survived again. I only wish that Gale and he would have had maybe one more scene of just the two of them together.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - General Discussion

"At first, I thought the catwalk was spinning...." -
In the clearest possible terms, it is okay to discuss that: A) Stacey Abrams appeared on the show and has an acknowledged love of Star Trek B) Your feelings about the appropriateness of casting a politician on the show WITHOUT including the commentary on that politician's positions C) The fact that Star Trek has historically featured certain philosophical themes WITHOUT relating those to contemporary politics It is NOT okay to discuss: A) Stacey Abrams' specific positions B) Whether or not you agree with those positions or feel that they are or are not in keeping with Star Trek's philosophy C) Anything else regarding contemporary politics as spelled out in the official Primetimer policy. I understand that this is quite the needle to thread. I just request that you err on the side of caution if you're not sure the comment you want to make is allowed. If you have specific questions, please send me a Private Message. Thanks.

The Julia Child Challenge - General Discussion

I adore that their aprons have the L'Ecole des trois gourmands badge on them. -
Mariner: "You guys don't know anything about my family!" Tendi: "WE are your family! We will always be there for you! And right now, we're headed into a pile of crazy dangerous space debris."

I find a lot of beauty in narratives about Chosen Family. Futurama is one of the best there is. That's all. That's the post.

I'd like to remind everyone of Primetimer's rules regarding discussions about Politics. Multiple posts have been removed regarding Stacey Abrams' appearance. It's totally fine to mention her appearance, but her career, her political beliefs, and people's opinions on the same are out of bounds. Thank you.

I am...not happy with it. I get that the origin would need some tweaking given how we're trying to pretend Inhumans didn't happen. But part of the first arc of the comic was Kamala using her new powers to look like Carol, and needing to embrace that she's awesome just for being herself. Now, if they've kept an appearance by Brie a secret, on the other hand...

In alpha canon, they've at least hinted that United Earth is a parliamentary democracy, Nathan Samuels was described as a Minister of some kind indicating a Westminster-type system. The beta canon (which I guess I always decide is "correct" until it's directly contradicted) expands it even more, stating there's a President who is the head of state, and a Prime Minister, who is the head of government. The Earth capitol is London.

MirrorSarek seemed like a decent guy on Disco. Although I don't understand how General Picard could have executed him in front of his son. Q made it seem like it was a child. Even in the unlikely event that Spock could exist in this world (wouldn't it more likely have been Sybok?), either would have been well over 150 by the time Picard could have crossed paths with them.

I actually wondered about that. There was a statue of an Adam Soong (well, a hologram of one) sitting in the middle of San Francisco Bay, with an audio clip of Brent Spiner's voice saying that a strong galaxy is a human galaxy, so things for the Soong-type androids are probably very different, if they exist at all.

I acknowledge the need to bring the Queen along with them, but I'd be willing to bet that Seven could have worked out the math on the warp breakaway. You can take the Fenris Ranger out of the astrometrics lab, but... The actor playing President Annika's husband is Isa Briones' father. Eradication Day has gotten SO commercialized.

Corollary: “The Living Daylights” is one of the best Bond themes.
