  1. Even though I didn't laugh my way through "Heart" I cared much more about what happened to Claire, a character we've known for several seasons and who is extremely important to many other characters I care about, than Madison. That doesn't mean that I didn't care about Madison, but I only cared about her because of the effect killing her had on Sam, and the effect that had on Dean. In this episode, it was the fact that she was bitten in the first place that got to me. Sam's reaction when he found her; Dean's reaction through the whole ordeal. Knowing that Jody would be devastated and Cas would likely feel some form of guilt because she's his vessel's daughter. Claire means more to me than Madison, even if she isn't someone I want on my screen every episode.
  2. @Geordiegirl1967, I wasn't talking about Adam when I said something about Ireland. It was in response to a comment about Eileen. I didn't quote it because 1) it was hidden and 2) I was on my phone and things don't work the same there as it does on my computer. Many people before have wondered how the BMoL could state they had eliminated all the monsters when Eileen's parents were killed by a banshee so I don't think I'm alone in thinking that she's from the UK.
  3. Ireland is a part of Great Britain. Great Britain consists of Ireland, Scotland and England.
  4. Which brings me to a point I made back in "The Raid" thread. If that is the case, then they are not going to come to the attention of the BMoL either based on how they hunt them. They don't have a vampire detection device. At least not that they've mentioned. They shouldn't be able to find vampires unless they are actively drawing attention to themselves. Combine this with the fact that Sam and Dean don't have a specific vampire to be concerned about, I can understand the reaction may be different. It's plausible that Sam never considered that they were killing vampires that aren't feeding on humans because they wouldn't be attracting attention. I'm not sure why they should assume that monsters who stay off the radar would be killed because if they stay off the radar, the BMoL shouldn't know about them.
  5. Also, even the one vampire (besides Benny) that they let live, Lenore, stated that she broke. Her entire nest went back to feeding on humans and she willingly died because the bloodlust was so great. As far as werewolves are concerned, however, even the one who turned Mike in "Bitten" had gone years without killing. I think it was at least 10 although I'm not sure as I've only seen that one a couple times. So they don't know any vampires personally that are not hurting humans. Benny is in Purgatory and so is Lenore presumably. They know several werewolves who don't hurt humans. Garth's whole pack plus Kate.
  6. Someone had indicated that Mick was the one to inject Claire. It was actually Dean who gave her the injection with an assist from Sam.
  7. I agree. I like him as a person more that Ketch, although Ketch might make a more interesting character. I could be wrong. I often am.
  8. I'm not sure which search got the bigger laugh from me. Maybe it was the search for ear hair removal techniques!
  9. Agree, although I do think Jo initially had a crush on Dean. Which he did not reciprocate until possibly late in the game but by that time, she was over her crush. Either that or she didn't want a fling just because the world was going to end. None of which makes it a romance.
  10. Well, I do cardio 5-6 times a week. I'm starting to run more, about 60% of the time. I've never been a great runner which is surprising as my dad won the state title in the mile in high school way back in the 40s. Unless surrounded by them and covered in zombie guts. But that's a different show. Seriously, my family spends way too much time discussing our strategy during a zombie apocalypse. My sister's grand plan is Twinkies for food since they last forever. Then again, once while discussing where to hold our family fantasy football draft, Hoth and Alderaan were brought into the conversation.
  11. I'm sure it does depend on the gun. I was researching and people were saying that a box of 50 was about $20? I imagine that's for handguns. There was also talk about reloading. I'll find out soon. I'm planning on taking a conceal/carry course because I want to be able to know how to use a gun in case I ever need to know. You know, if the zombie apocalypse ever really happens.
  12. I've always thought Dean would be a fireman if not a hunter. He and Sam are just like the guys that run into a burning building when everyone else is running out. That's how I see it too. I'm not sure if we are supposed to see it as Dean wanting those things or this is what Mary thought she was supposed to do. Even when Dean stated to Mary that he didn't want those things, I didn't think that was a change. I thought he said it more for hyperbole to get across his point that he just wants time with her. It depends. The prices fluctuate based on a variety of factors. The largest factor is the cost of the material used, usually lead. During the Vietnam War, the cost was higher because much of it was needed by the military. The price dropped after the war. At some point (1990s I think), the EPA regulations for the plants that made the ammo caused the prices to increase. Considering that a box of ammo isn't that expensive now, I'm sure he could buy a lot.
  13. Yes, they are private and tuition is generally over $10k now. However, if your son is on the football team, there is a $75 uniform fee. Some of the kids get in on scholarship (not athletic) and can't afford that, but, IIRC, there was fundraising you could do as well to pay for that. However, I asked my son who knows several people who played for the local public schools and they don't have football try outs either.
  14. That's true in cities as well if it's a neighborhood team and not a school or select team. My younger son played for the neighborhood team through 4th grade and then played select. There were tryouts for select but not the neighborhood teams. I remember how hampered we were in tournaments because you had to play every player for at least one inning in the field and we would have 17 and the other team would tell their "bad players" to not show up and only have 10. Now that I think about it, Sam's soccer trophy could be from a neighborhood team.
  15. I live in a fairly large city and the football league for the Catholic schools is extremely successful. So successful that this year the league, with 4 teams, had 2 state champions in football. One was division 1 and the other was in division 2. How is this relevant? Because both schools allow anyone who participates in practices, shows up for what they are supposed to and has at least a C average to be on the team. You may not play much, but you will have a uniform, dress for games and stand on the sidelines. If the team is winning by enough that they go through the 1st and 2nd string, you will then get to play. Not only that, but the stars will cheer for you when you make a play. Seriously. The one team had over 100 boys on the varsity team. They would have 2 players with the same number. Now, if the roster is limited by the state association, then there are tryouts and cuts. However, it is also possible that if there is an injury that is season ending, someone else will be added. Last note, the 2 teams that won state championships that were from the same league also are on the same street a little over 5 miles apart.
  16. I should have clarified that I mean this site. I think it use to be pretty even and I tended to keep out of it. I don't believe it's even anymore.
  17. Good point. I'd guess that Bobby rarely saw Sam during that year. It was just that Dean knew Sam so much better than Bobby did that he was able to figure out that something was off.
  18. Yes!!!! I'm so tired of the bickering! I have a slight preference for Sam but love them both. I spend more time "defending" Sam because he seems to have fewer champions and I tend to play devil's advocate in all aspects of life (which put me in an interesting position during the last election cycle). The concept that someone would want one of them in a coma for an entire season is unfathomable to me. I liked Baby last year despite the fact that Sam disappeared for the a substantial part of the episode. I know the fact that Sam wasn't in Baby as much is why some people like it, which makes me sad. I didn't notice that he was missing upon the first viewing just like I didn't notice that Dean was missing during American Nightmare. The only female characters I really haven't liked were Amelia, because I thought she was mean, and Toni. I wouldn't mind if either or both to have a romantic relationship. It couldn't take up much time because that's not what the show is about, but a few scenes occasionally peppered throughout could be fun. Especially if it meant more shirtless scenes. The only romantic relationship I hated was Amelia for reasons already stated.
  19. I agree with you here. I don't think Bobby realized that Sam was different until Dean pointed it out.
  20. Maybe hunger is experienced in hell because it's a form of torture and the physical body isn't necessary? I don't really feel strongly about when Dean experienced hunger. I can see the reasoning behind all theories stated.
  21. I wonder if Sam is thinking that if the monsters aren't doing anything to draw the attention of hunters, they would remain off the radar of the BMoL. If the BMoL are watching a nest of vampires or a pack of werewolves to see their interactions, it stands to reason that those good monsters wouldn't be interacting with those that are killing people. Therefore, the good monsters wouldn't be noticed. I'm probably wrong, but it was a thought I had.
  22. That would have been interesting, but then you lose all of the demons. I suppose that you could keep Crowley but then he's mortal. So, I was wrong that Sam would come clean immediately. Glad he did before the end of the episode. Not sure why everyone thinks that Dean throwing a fit would be a good thing but I was glad that he didn't. Standing up for yourself does not mean throwing a fit and refusing to consider other people's perspective. It does mean telling others how you feel even if you decide to follow their lead. He said he didn't like it and that he didn't trust them but noted that they work with people they don't trust all the time. Sam agreed to bail if things look off. If they are only sending them on hunts, it's not a big deal. It kinda what Bobby and Garth did for a while. However, I'm sure that something will happen to show that they shouldn't be trusted and Dean will have been right all along. Exactly. I watched with friends who also watch TWD and we loved the Negan reference in the beginning. They've made references to other projects the actors have been on. Jared with Gilmore Girls for one. I guess I just don't take it that seriously. I like the jokes. I knew the fact that Sam killed the hellhound was going to be a problem for many. It use to never bother me which brother killed what but now I cringe when Sam kills anything because I know it's going to be another episode that people hate and delete and then talk about how much the writers hate Dean. Sigh. It may be time for a break from the board. I'm starting to get bitter. This used to be fun.
  23. I generally avoid The Purge so I can't remember Sam's speech to Dean. I will watch the beginning with Donna because of the outtakes of Jensen with the donuts. However, if they had Dean tell Sam that he was sorry for Gadreel because he knows it's something that Sam would not have wanted but that Dean wasn't ready for his brother to die. I could even understand Dean saying that he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't make the same decision if he had sounded like he didn't like that he would. It was Dean being so unapologetic that was my issue, especially as I found it OOC for something this extreme. Dean even stated in the first episode that season that he knew that Sam would never agree to be possessed. I understood why Dean did it, but never understood why he wouldn't apologize. He appeared to be remorseful when he knew how confused and upset Sam was becoming over his lost time, so the fact that he wouldn't just say "I'm sorry" never rang true. They both have made decisions that they regretted and have forgiven each other for those decisions, usually fairly quickly. Wait, was that the "if you want to be brothers" speech? If so, I always thought if they had added something like "we need to work on that" or something that wasn't so definitive, it would have made it better. Sam was pissed, and had a right to be pissed, but the cutting off of the relationship was harsh. Even just telling Dean that he's pissed and will need time to get over it, but not saying that they were no longer brothers lessens the hurt. Dean would understand that.
  24. I knew I wouldn't change your mind @catrox14. My point was that there is nothing in that episode to suggest that Sam went to Mary and purposely didn't tell Dean because he was thinking about joining. @rue721 and @MysteryGuest have both given valid reasons why he wouldn't have called. There couldn't be a call because then Dean would have spent the remainder of the episode trying to get to the BMoL lair. I really don't think the writers thought anyone would think that Sam was not calling for nefarious reasons. They just knew that they wanted Dean with Ketch so Jensen could film later and therefore, Sam couldn't call Dean in the first 15 minutes of the episode. Then there would be complaints again about Dean disappearing for nearly the entire episode. No matter what Sam did before, in that episode, he clearly wasn't having any of it until he found out how many vampires had been killed. Then, he was intrigued, but not ready to sign up just yet. If he really went intending to sign up, or was open to it, he would have shook Mick's hand. He wouldn't have said he's leaving. Sam didn't even know that Mary's text was related to the BMoL until she said she wanted to show him what they were doing. Of course, I know that none of that will sway you.
